The Christmas project follows Kate who is a professional organiser, whose next client is her best friend’s brother Michael. Michael’s home and life hasn’t been on track since the separation from his girlfriend. Kate and Michael’s first meeting doesn’t go very smoothly, but eventually she takes the job. While Kate and Michael slowly organise his home, they get to know one another and warm up to each other. Will they fall for each other?

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. It’s well written and has a great pace. Kate and Michael are both very likeable characters and their banter was so much fun to read about. It was my first book by the author, but I definitely want to read more after enjoying this one. I’d definitely recommend this book and not only for the holiday season.

Firstly I loved the cover which was super cute and Christmassy and it was a nice easy read, a good one for snuggling under a blanket by the fire with the dog curled up on your knee (this is how I read it!)

It was as some so called chick lit books are fairly predictable and nothing really happens to surprise you but if you are looking for a relaxed easy read to get you in the mood for Christmas this is a nice choice.

There are some giggles and a few tears along the way and I would read more titles by this author.

What a delightful book - I had to sit and read this in one go - luckily it was our Easter holidays and was able to do this uninterrupted. Yes, I was a little late getting to this book (a Christmas story) but I'm so glad I didn't pass up the opportunity to read this gem by Maxine Morrey. Thanks NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this book in return for an honest review.

Kate Stone is a professional organiser who helps people declutter their lives. She loves what she does and feel a sense of satisfaction when people get their lives back under control because of the organisation that she has brought to their surroundings. No job is too hard, well no job till now. Kate's friend Janey has asked for her help organising her brother, Michael O'Farrell's life. Michael's life and house has spiralled into a mess since his divorce but as he is about to host the family Christmas get-together it seems time that he got life back under control. Michael is not as enthusiastic as Janey about having Kate's help and at first puts as many obstacles as possible in Kate's way including leaving her freezing on the doorstep when he is an hour late for their first appointment.

This book is full of fun and chemistry. Michael and Kate's relationship unfolds quite dramatically as the pages turn and you quite believe in this relationship. Janey's friendship with Kate is lovely as well and Janey's family is a delight. There is even a dog or two to help the story along - this is a really nice touch. While this book might not be for everyone if you like a romantic comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously then this is the story for you. I still haven't recovered from the sex toys that had to be cared for by Kate for one of her octogenarian clients.

Ok, so this book is very cute and has a great main character, I seriously loved reading about Kate! But I feel like I need to get some things off my chest about Mr. O'Farrell here, Kate's love interest.

My first impression of him was awful... I mean, the guy is super rude. And there are other things as well, especially as we get to see him more during those first encounters with Kate.

Now, maybe this is a personal thing, but I'm just not into guys who sleep around. I also can't believe him when he plays the gentleman part, like he doesn't just pick a different hot girl to warm his bed every now and then. Maybe he says he respects them and that it's mutual and whatever, but the day he finds someone he wants to actually stay with... How is it going to work? I don't know, is it just me? Am I giving it too much thought? To me this guy doesn't care about women at all, he just wants satisfaction in the moment and would not be able to stay in a serious, committed relationship after leading this kind of life. I don't think it's that easy.

Again, maybe this is a personal thing. But hey, I'm my own person, and this is my opinion.

And honey, most of us have had our hearts broken, no need to blame everyone for it, it happens. From the very beginning we come to understand that his ex-wife had a bad personality and that she was very shallow, but I think that he "fell in love" with her because she was incredibly gorgeous, everyone around him told him how she was not good for him, but he was just blinded by her hotness, at least that's how I see it.

Oh, and let's not forget about his temper...

Anyway, let's just get back to Kate, she's the one worth talking about.

Kate is just incredibly nice and sweet, she works really hard and even volunteers at this animal shelter, I mean, come on! She's too good for you, Mr. O'Farrell, I'm sorry. You and those lost thongs under your bed can go now. And yes, Kate has a crappy boyfriend and their relationship is awful, but that doesn't make you any better.

I also loved what she did for a living, even though it seemed like she just makes the place of a client more tidy and clean, in the end it can be so much more than that. She helped Michael have a real home, one where he could have his family over for Christmas.

And I liked her even more once we find out about her past, it's amazing she grew up to be this incredible accomplished woman and that she's so nice and friendly.

I guess I can say that I'm happy for Kate, even if she found happiness with Michael, she deserves whatever she wants in life.
