Utterly brilliant as usual from the author who never fails to shock and surprise with a chilling flair for creating fear.

Twisty and full of shocks.. It does not disappoint.

Five stars from me.

A gripping thriller that I couldn’t put down. This book reeled me in from the start. I recommend this book to all thriller fans.

A girl found murdered in a dustbin means the start of the next Calladine & Bayliss investigation. The murder strongly resembles an old case. That murderer has been recently released. Surely, that could not have been a coincidence?

Another police procedural, and as always a quick read. One thing that started to bother me a little bit at this point in the series is the character of Calladine. He is presented as the somewhat troubled hero of the series but I don’t like him at all.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is the sixth book in the series and Calladine and Baylis are working again. This time it’s the case of a teenage girl found murdered.

I hadn’t read any of the previous books but this didn’t stop me enjoying it. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I have read a couple of books by Helen Durrant and both have been really good. This book is all as good and was another excellent read. Fully of twists and turns and kept me guessing. I really must read the other books in this series.

This book was just right up my street - absolutely loved it! I can't recall having read a book by this author before so an added bonus is that I have now found a new series to get my teeth into!

It was an easy read with a great storyline and great characters. I really liked the working relationship between Calladine & Bayliss and am looking forward to reading the rest of the books.

An easy 5 stars.

This is the latest story featuring detectives Calladine and Bayliss. In this one they are investigating the horrific murder of a local sixth form girl. The MO is the same as a murder committed years ago, for which the murderer, Craig Donnelly, went to prison. Now he is out and is obviously the prime suspect. However, can they be sure that Craig was actually guilty of the initial murder, or was it a miscarriage of justice? And who is the mysterious Jason Swift who visited Craig in prison and wanted to know all the gory details of the murder? This is another page turner from Helen Durrant, and will keep you guessing til the end.

This being the sixth in this series and I feel like this series is getting better and better! I was thrilled to see Ruth returning to work. DI Tom Calladine certainly needs her with this case that has similarities of an earlier horrific murder.

This might just be my favorite of the six books. There’s a good and interesting plot. Helen Durrant has another well-written novel packed with thrills and a great deal of suspense. I was surprised that in such a small town that more parents or the community didn’t cause problems with all these crimes and the missing girls. I feel like you would have had town-wide panic on your hands.

The detective team is so close knit and they really work and play well off each other. I’m starting to wonder if we are going to have a bit of romance on the side in the next book with Ruth and Tom. I just feel like there’s something simmering here.

So here we are six books in and I am just as hooked and have never been disappointed by this police procedural series. I mean really what can I say I've read all the books in this series and I think this is just the best! It starts off with a bang!! I feel like there was more murder and thrills with twists.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

I enjoyed catching up with the characters I've come to know during this series. It was great to see Bayliss back fully from maternity leave and back with her sidekick Tom Calladine.
I have come to learn that this author writes serial killers with a gruesome nature and as such I'm less shocked these days however this case felt a little different, don't get me wrong it was still gruesome but felt written more from the forensic teams perspective than that of the killers.
The case had several angles and the fact that the case focused on killings starting in the same style as an old case just after the original killer left prison made me think it had to be someone else which of course the author filled with several ideas from an array of other characters leaving me guessing right to the end (and in this case I was way off).
There were a couple of things that didn't sit right with me which sadly I can't elaborate on without spoilers so I will just summerise that this wasn't my favourite case of the series however I'm still a fan of the series in general

Another great Helen H. Durrant book featuring D.S. Ruth Bayliss and D.I. Tom Calladine.
I have enjoyed all of Durrant's books and wasn't disappointed with this one
Bring on the next book in the series
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

I thought this book was ok - but nothing really special. The detectives in the book had obviously featured in previous books and although I may have missed something by not reading the others in the series I didn't feel this affected the story too much. I think my main problem with the books is that the characters seemed wooden - they didn't seem real and affected the way I dealt with the story. Also I felt that perhaps there could have been a couple more twists in the plot - there were only two characters who could have feasibly been the murderer. I may read the others in the series sometime because this book was what I'd call "easy reading".

I really wanted to give this book a 2 1/2. It's not as bad as a 2 and not quite a good as a 3. That said, I have read all previous 5 books. I greatly enjoyed the 1st two and then they began to get worse instead of better. I think this happens all the time when authors hurridly try to write new books to cash in on the popularity of their books. The characters, who seemed interesting to me at first, became formulaic, and more than that, became cartoon characters of themselves and never seemed to evolve.

The worse though of this series was the 5th which needed serious editing. It brought in a whole new character and sub plot that wasn't needed, didn't add anything to the story or to the character's lives and only prolonged the book way too much. The book would have been so much better had this whole subplot be edited out as it wouldn't really have impacted on the story at all.

That said, this 6th book is certainly better than the 5th. But I find, again, that the characters haven't evolved at all and I really do not know who they are, especially the main character Tom Calladine. He is like a stick figure instead of a fully rounded portrait. I cannot begin to make an image of him in my mind (even though there is a physical description of him) as his dialogue, his manner of speech is no different from any one else's and the descriptions of his character are mere cartoons of a real person.

However, I do think at any rate that the plot moved along nicely and I was anxious to see "who dunnit".

Another good read to add to this series. This book had me on the go, with trying to figure out whodunit. Lots of excitement and suspense

Dead Nasty is the sixth book in the Calladine & Bayliss series. DI Tom Calladine has cleaned up his act a little more and I liked him better than I did in book #5, but the gem of the series is DS Ruth Bayliss. She is the one who really pulls the investigation together and pushes for new leads.

A gruesome murder victim is discovered shortly after a murderer with a similar MO gets released from prison. Although Tom wants to immediately pin the murder on the paroled convict, Ruth wants to follow the clues. And the leads and clues are not leading back to the convict. And what's worse, is that there are more missing girls and they really need to find this killer fast. This is another solid murder mystery from Ms. Durrant.

Tom's team is a good group of characters and I like the way they work together…it seems very realistic. I like the wav the personal details of Tom's and Ruth's life are woven into the story giving both characters really good depth. Tom is cleaning up his lifestyle a bit and Ruth, with a new baby, is being stretched to manage home and work. (I remember those days and could definitely relate to this!)

Dead Nasty is definitely another good British procedural from Helen Durrant. I'm a fan of her writing and can't wait for the next in the series. I received an ARC from NetGalley.
