This detailed account of the failed 1918-1920 Murmansk expedition to fight Bolshevism certainly has its points of interest for anyone wanting to learn more about what was happening in the immediate post-Revolutionary years, not least because it is written by the Commander of the force, Major-general Sir Charles Maynard, but I really feel this is a book more for the military historian than the general reader. For me personally the descriptions of troop movements and strategies didn’t keep my attention, and although the book is admittedly excellent of its kind, it wasn’t one for me.
