Only received a brief sample of the novel - based on that it looks interesting but will depend on the authors ability to sustain the plot across the narration switches. Good basic premise and style looked good.
An intriguing premise told from the dual points of view of two women who have both lived at the mysterious One Folgate Street. Well-written, suspenseful and gripping, it's easy to understand the hype surrounding THE GIRL BEFORE. This was a sample and I'm looking forward to now reading the entire book.
I love it when an author comes up with an original idea and then turns it into a thoroughly good read and that is exactly what happened here.. It was easy to see why the tenants were tempted into moving into the house but I could almost hear myself shouting 'don't do it!'
I did not even slightly get the 'who done it' element right and the ending was a complete shock to me. The book was a lot more than just a who done it though and the questions set by Housekeeping had me agonising about my answers. Now I've finished it at least my moral compass can relax!

Dare you live in One Folgate Street where there are rules for everything and consequences to breaking them ?! First you will have of complete the most bizarrely strange questionnaire to vet you on your suitability !
Told in alternating chapters in the.voice of Emma the previous successful applicant and Jane the new tenant, this book is a real page turner ! I thought ,whilst reading it , it would make a good movie and I find that this is indeed on the cards .
Thoroughly enjoyed this book 4.5 stars from me with my thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my arc which I have chosen to review. Look forward to reading more from this author
I received a sampler of this book and I will certainly be buying it to find out how the story pans out. It follows two young women, one in the past and one in the present, whose lives intertwine.
The suspense grips you from the first page, with lots of secrets and titbits about the girls past. I don't like the owner of Folgate street and look forward to finding out more about him
This is a very unusual story with the main focus of the story being the huge expectations of an architect who lets his property. He makes enormous demands on his tenants and will not accept anything else.
This has an effect on the tenancy and results in a repeating pattern of events and the reader becoming aware that there are several 'girls before'
It is a good read, particularly if you can read a good percentage of the book at the beginning to really engage with the characters. The twist at the end is a good one.
Fabulous well deserved 5 stars. I will definitely be looking out for more by this author
Sample chapters outstanding and left me wanting more. Cannot wait to see how the rest of the novel pans out.
I knew as soon as I'd read this sampler that I would not be disappointed when the full script came through. And I wasn't. Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the sampler.
I read this sample book, but I have to say that this alone would not have urged me to buy the full book. I initially found the style rather confusing and repetitive. However, as I had an ARC of the full book, I continued to read on...... (see my other review for the full version of the book).
Great read and easy to follow story. Look forward to reading more from this author
I have only read the sample of this book kindly sent via NetGalley but it certainly has me gripped and wishing to read the entire thing.,
It was very written and easy to follow the two different timelines with Emma and Jane as the main characters. The storyline of the house designed by the eccentric or evil - I guess I'll find out if I get to read the whole book - architect is interesting and almost unbelievable but not quite.
I'm not sure who JP Delaney is but I like his or her writing. I understand that this is also to be a film which I can understand as the gadget controlled house '1 Folgate Street' will lend itself to a film well.
Now I just want to know the end!
