Another fun read from the reliably entertaining Sue Moorcroft. Just the right mix of an attractive setting, relatable characters and believable tension to create a page-turning yet comforting reading experience.
This was such a warm and fuzzy holiday read. I loved the fact that whilst this was a romance it also touched on so much more. It felt like love in all of its formats, good and bad were described in this book and you could really resonate with all of the characters.
This was my first Sue Moorcroft book and I look forward to reading more!
I'm a big fan of Sue Moorcroft. She creates such wonderful characters and Just for the Holidays was no exception. The will they won't they romance of Ronan and Leah is centre stage and we all know how it will end but it doesn't detract from the story. My favourite character however was Curtis and his blossoming relationship with Natasha. It was so sweet!
This is the perfect book for a summer read
Moorcroft always writes an engaging story about people who feel very real. Even if you, like me, aren't able to vacation in France, you will recognize Leah and Michele and everything they are both coping with and enjoying. Theres laughter and a little romance. A good one.
Leah is on holiday with her sister Michele and her family. Trouble is that Michele is in the middle of a divorce and things are about to get even more complicated.
Then Leah meets Ronan, the man next door, who is there with his son Curtis. Leah is attracted to Ronan but is it just for the holidays?
Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.
This is a brilliant modern fiction story. I really enjoyed it. The story is set in summertime France. It's family chaos with sun!!
Just how complicated can families get? All areas of it beautifully researched and written. I loved it. Could there be a sequel?......
At this stage of my blogging career I have realised that there are certain authors that it is a crime not to have read and as a rom com blogger this lady was high on my list of author's to get to and now I'm glad that I did!
On beginning this book I was actually more struck as an author how lovely the author came across in this book in her addressing of the readers( I always take note of the acknowledgments, dressing of readers etc and that puts someone very high up from the off!) and I was thrilled to dive into this, the story of Leah, who ends up in France to help out her sister Michele, whose marriage is struggling (mostly because she has flitted off, even though she's pregnant, with her new boyfriend!)
I enjoyed all of the characters in their various roles, with a huge thumbs up for some of the loveliest male characters. The setting was so vivid and vibrant and I sat back and enjoyed the lot of it the ups, the downs and above all the chocolate. I will admit it wasn't always right up my street, at times the amount of detail on everything took over and took away from the story but in general less description is my preference and I totally agree that it is a read that should definitely be bookmarked for some time off chilling out. Thanks so much to Avon and Netgalley for the book in return for an honest review.
Rating: 4/5
The perfect escape book! And that is probably what Leah was thinking when she was offered the chance of a holiday for a month with her sister, Michelle and her family who needed to get away from it all. Her sister and husband are going through a tough spell, and Michelle needs her sister there for support! How could you say no?!
But Leah soon finds that her auntie duties are going to be put to good use, when Michelle disappears off with a new boyfriend, and her husband ends up in hospital out of action! Auntie Leah to the rescue! And she couldn't do that without the help of a rather gorgeous neighbour, Ronan, who is there with his teenage son and struggling with his own issues and the never ending issues of teenagers and their problems!
This is one of those books that just relaxes you the moment you pick it up and you can't help but just go along with the flow and enjoy the interaction of a variety of characters and watch how they deal with a number of issues! The 2 children of Michelle and Alistair, are often left wondering just what is happening with their parents and it's nice that they can turn to their Aunt for support when all else around them seems to be crumbling.
Such a fun and enjoyable read!
A light read for pure escapism. A window into not one but two family dynamics and how the sins of some members can impact the innocent bystanders. Blood ties us to some uncomfortable situations and keeps us there. A lovely setting for some frustrating characters.
Hopefully all’s well that ends well...thank goodness for good neighbours and family.
Perfect book for easy reading, thank you for sending me a free copy, good for a quick summery read, enjoyed the setting
A family holiday in France turns into a disaster as pregnant Mum Michele goes AWOL leaving sister Leah in charge of the teenage children Jordan and Natasha and estranged husband Alister.
After a horrific encounter with married man Tommy, Leah is only looking for a holiday romance, but after meeting neighbour Ronan, can she be tempted to trust again?
This is a fun holiday read with great characters and a fast storyline.
Just for the Holidays is a country hopping romp filled with titillating drama, heartache, and laughs that will keep you turning the page for more. Moorcrofts light-hearted story weaving will have you coming back for more.
I love Sue Moorcroft and this book is as lovely and enjoyable as all her other books.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the Avon and Netgalley for this ARC
A lovely, easy read. Not too light with some great humour. Some realistic life challenges along the way. A good read of other peoples holidays with all the family drama and challenges that go along with it. I enjoyed this for a change of genre.
I read many genres, but very rarely read holiday reads such as 'Just for the Holidays'. It's the first time that i have actually enjoyed a 'holiday read' book. There is so much happening in this book that I suggest that one will have to read for themselves. Recommended.
With many thanks for my copy. This is my honest review, freely given.
Really great read. It takes you on a really great journey of different emotions. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book, nothing like chocolate to make everything better. Well written and beautifully presented.
An enjoyable and entertaining novel showing how families pull together when necessary. Leah was a wonderful deputy mother for her sister’s children.
