Two Lovers, Six Deaths is a gripping mystery which will keep you hooked right from the beginning till the very end. It is a story about Dominic who is believed to have stabbed his girlfriend Lisa and then killed himself. But his wife, an estranged one, believes firmly that Dominic is not capable of taking anyone’s life especially that of Lisa, whom he loved deeply.
So, she takes the help of Tyrone Swift, a capable private detective who starts investigating the deaths. As the investigations progress, Tyrone will uncover some dark secrets and buried truths which will shed some light on these deaths. And to make the investigation more challenging, there are more deaths.
Will Tyrone be able to solve this peculiar case? To know the answers, you will have to read this engrossing novel which will interest the readers who enjoy reading detective stories and murder mysteries.
Dominic was well lived and no one would believe he would kill any one. Tyrone Swift is drafted in to investigate.
This was a good read but I wish I had read the previous books in this series. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
This book sounded great and it started off well but after a bit the story dragged and I was struggling through it
Really enjoyed this novel and certain had be gripped from beginning to end I haven't read the previous two books, which i hope to read in the near future. Recommended.
My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review.
A MAN STABS HIS GIRLFRIEND TO DEATH. THEN HANGS HIMSELF, LEAVING A NOTE CONFESSING TO THE MURDER. OPEN AND SHUT CASE? NOT FOR DETECTIVE TYRONE SWIFT
We all know there is never a case that could ever be as easy as solving it right away. Nothing is ever that simple in crime land.
What a great interesting story this turned out to be. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is book 3 in the series, and not having read the previous books, I can safely say it can be nicely read as a standalone. It was very well written and I can't wait to read the previous books in the series.
Worth your effort and time.
Dominic Merrell was found hanged at his place of work. He left a signed confession to the brutal murder of his live-in girlfriend, Lisa Eastwood. Even though Dominic had left her and their two sons for this other woman, his estranged wife, Georgie, does not believe that the man that she is still married to, could commit this atrocity. Georgie hires a private investigator to find out the truth.
This was an ok whodunnit mystery. There were some surprises but no twists and turns that makes you say wow. After reading the reviews, I found out that this is book 3 in a series. I did not read the prior two books which would have helped to know their background. There was a lack of character development and I was a little confused on who some of the other characters were in the story. I also do not like the title of the book. There were definitely more than two lovers and I'm not even sure who the six deaths are (I guess we are counting the deaths that happened over 35 years ago?).
Thank you to NetGalley, Joffe Books, and Gretta Mulrooney for the opportunity to read and review "Two Lovers, Six Deaths".
Another enjoyable read in the Swift series with a complex case, lots of secrets and unlikely culprit. My only criticism would be that there are a few too many characters to keep track of
It was a typical detective novel. It wasn't interesting.
This was a beautifully written Police procedural novel set in London that has an engaging storyline. It took me a while to get used to the British dialogue but I had no trouble following the storyline. I read this in one sitting because I wanted to see how it ended!
This is the third in the Tyrone Swift series. What looks like an open and closed case involving Georgie Merrell's estranged husband who leaves a suicide note after taking his own life admitting that he murdered his girlfriend Lisa (the woman he left Georgie for). Quick and easy? Anything but. Nobody believes Dominic was a killer but with no apparent motive he is the prime suspect. Enter detective Swift charged with finding the truth as Georgie fights to clear his name. Needless to say there are many secrets to be revealed and multiple personal stories that will hold your interest. Although I haven't read the first two books in this series I enjoyed this one so much I have all intentions of reading the first two.
This was a well written, dramatic, suspense filled novel. The hard working, thoughtful and sensitive private investigator Ty, is hired by the bereaved, estranged wife to clear her children's father's name. The surrounding cast of characters and a thoroughly obnoxious investigating detective made this novel difficult to put down. This was my first reading of this author's work but certainly won't be my last.
This is the third book of the Tyrone Swift series and the first one I have read from the series. Looking back, I think I should have read the first two because I feel like my relationship with Tyrone was a little impersonal and I think getting to know him better would have helped me to enjoy this book just a teensy bit more.
Two Lovers, Six Deaths had me hooked at the beginning as the death of Dominic Merrell and the murder of his girlfriend Lisa and the events leading up to it were chock full of drama and questions at every turn.
I was a little confused by Tyrone's relationship with his ex-fiancee and her now husband. I think it might have taken away from the main storyline a little bit, and I found the ex-fiancee to be so unlikable that I groaned inwardly whenever her name was brought up. This subplot was almost upsetting in a way and the husband so vile that I wished it didn't exist. Though, I can see it being important for readers to get to know a different side to Tyrone apart from that of a Private Detective. I will take from this that Tyrone Swift is a patient, loyal, and selfless man who puts others before himself, which are traits that make him a good P.I.
I waited for my a-ha moment and I'm sorry to say it never came. It could be that I was distracted by the subplots (there are more than one), but I can't put my finger on it. There were good turns to the book and exciting bits of information about Lisa and Dominic were revealed, but the turns weren't quite as twisty as I had hoped.
I liked this book, I did, but at the end when everything was revealed I thought that maybe I skipped ahead on my kindle by accident. The ending and what I believe were to be the shocking revelations surrounding the death were a bit milk toast. I almost felt more invested with the subplots than with the main storyline. However! I did not solve the mystery myself and that says a lot for the book. Quite a lot.
Would I recommend this book? It is an interesting story and the fact that I was unable to solve the mystery leads me to recommend this read in a cautiously optimistic way. I would recommend reading the previous books in this series, which, as I mentioned, is something I wished I would have done.
If you are triggered by the topic of suicide, you might want to avoid this book, or at the very least, know that this is the way Dominic Merrell died and prepare yourself for some descriptions and conversations about suicide.
