Book 4

Another exciting compelling read from this author with the same D.I. Jessica. I have seen Jessica grow book by book in her dealings with people, her team and her sheer gutsiest and I am loving her growth and determination.

We have children this time who are disappearing at an alarming rate from a list that is discovered.

It’s a race against time and I’m truly out of breath!

This is proving one of the best series I’ve read for a long time.

I discovered Kerry Wilkinson through Netgalley and she is now one of my favorite authors ever! I have read all of her books and can't wait for more. This novel is no exception; it has everything you will want in a mystery suspense novel. I love all of the Jessica Daniel novels.

This is the 4th of the Jessica Daniels series of detective stories this one set in Manchester. The story starts with a car crash and the death of the driver Jessica is there. The body of a child is discovered in the boot and quickly links are formed with an historic case.
Jessica is an off the wall character in some of her investigation techniques, but she gets results. The development of the story allows for the further development of other characters and relationships from previous books and I would recommend reading these earlier books, as I did in order to help with this.
The book ends with an unexpected cliffhanger which leaves you waiting anxiously for book 5.
I was delighted to come across Kerry as an author with a whole series of books for me to discover.

Bookouture and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Think of the Children. I was under no obligation to review this novel and my opinion is freely given.

Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel and her colleague DC Dave Rowlands are the first on scene when a stolen car crashes right in front of them. The driver is killed instantly, so he can provide no answers to the gristly surprise that Jessica uncovers in the trunk. A map found in the vehicle provides little clues and many more questions. When the search leads investigators years into the past, will Jessica and the team be able to solve the current case, as well as the cold one?

The author gives Jessica Daniel a chance to grow during this novel while, at the same time, focusing fully on the case at hand. With a fast paced plot and good character development, Think of the Children is a great addition to the series. The abrupt ending was not unexpected, as the author ended with a cliffhanger in some of the previous novels. My favorite character is Jessica because she is honest, realistic, and determined. I would recommend that readers new to the series start with the previous novels, although it is not strictly necessary.

This is the fourth book in the Jessica Daniel series and I really, really enjoyed it. It can easily be read as a stand alone but if you want to read the whole series (like me) its best to read them in order. I think this is the best so far out of the four I have read. I really enjoyed the plot and was gripped from the first to last pages. Going to start the fifth book now. Really enjoying these books at the moment.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for books 1-6

Continuing on in my binge readathon. If you thought about reading this as a standalone, you probably shouldn't. We are now getting to the point where you will want back story to Jessica and her team. Which I am enjoying getting to know more about the secondary characters. Still love Jessica and her smart ass ways, but its refreshing to get a break from it.
This book was good, I enjoy Kerry's writing style.

Book four in a so far great series. I have read these in order and it's been great to keep getting to know Jessica Daniels and her team better and better. Now Jessica has a vocabulary and temperament to match my own, so maybe it's not a surprise I feel an affinity her. “ As she tried to force another smile, she thought the unrelenting cheerfulness in the photographer’s voice went some way to helping her understand what could make a person turn to violence.” And you know you're getting invested in a character when you're happy when things turn out well for them, like Jess re-connecting with Adam.

The plot here involves the discovery of a dead child in the boot of a car involved in a fatal car accident. This in turn leads to a map which takes them to the clothing of a child that went missing 14 years ago and a list of other children’s names. As always, there doesn't seem to be any connection between the children and the team struggles to find the link. When one of the children on the list later goes missing, the kidnapping unit is also brought in to help.

The books in the series are consistently well written with solid character development. He gets a lot of the details right - the internal politics, the battle between police and the news, even the bad marriages. For anyone who has not yet sampled Wilkinson’s series, I can heartily recommend it.
My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kerry Wilkinson has done it again. You will not be disappointed. This is every bit as tense and taught a thriller as her previous title!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advance copy of Think Of The Children in return for an honest review. I absolutely love Kerry Wilkinson's books and started reading the Jessica Daniel series in order and even though you don't need to i think it does make them more enjoyable. I have grown very fond of Jessica's character she is strong when she needs to be but she is also very human and compassionate. I love the banter and jokey relationship she has with her colleagues. Think of the children had me gripped from the beginning as all his books do and i so didn't see the ending coming WOW what a twist!!!!

Detective Jessica Daniel is called to an auto accident scene when they find a young boys body in the trunk of the wrecked car and a map that leads them to a list of names and some clothes. She concludes the clothes are from a boy that went missing 14 years ago but there are no signs of the body. When another boy goes missing she must try to piece together what's going on before someone else disappears. I really liked this novel especially the ending that took me by surprise. I especially like that this points out there are missing children everywhere and not all of them get the same consideration especially if they're not blue eyed and blonde haired.

I loved this book. While Jessica is still growing stronger with every book, she still can’t just help herself from either putting her foot in it or going off against everyone’s advice and doing her own thing! There is also a lot more humor in this book! I loved the fact that Jessica’s personal life featured more and, without revealing spoilers, how we finally might be seeing the new improved Jessica.

Kerry Wilkinson does a wonderful job of creating an world where Jessica Daniel isn't just a police officer but is human with emotions that she works hard to control. Every page the readers will feel as if they are standing next to Jessica watching though her eyes. This was a well thought-out story full of twists and turns the reader will not expect. Just when you think you get it BAM... Wilkinson changes it up on you!

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

I am really, really enjoying this series!! I love a good crime /procedural book and this is one of them.

The characters are fleshed out and relatable, professional and fun, everything builds together to a complete yet disturbing story, one you want to read more of, one that grabs you and refuses to let go.

This was a blast of a book.

Expect a thrilling cat-and-mouse game with a surprising ending!

I loved our characters and was very surprised by why everything happened - and especially by what happened to one of the children in the book. Note that there were a few moments where the logical parts of my brain protested, but they were few and far between and I was mostly simply riveted by the chase.

I'll very happily continue reading this very exciting series.
