Just for the Rush was a 5 star read! I couldn't put the book down and long after it was completed I wished it never ended.

This book had me confused as to what was going on and who all these other people were. I understand he was going to divorce Sharon but was he having flashbacks of better times or different women but he didn't seem to be the jerk the writer was trying to make him out to be. I was overly confused about Emily and this book just has to many sub plots and randomness going on for me to follow.

Just for the rush is a story about relationships, lust and a bad boy.

Ivy is in a long term relationship that is just going no where. It has gone stale and is no longer exciting.
Ivy craves excitement but just feels after 6years it's time to move on.

Jack is Ivy's boss and he oozes sex appeal. He's a bad boy and has Ivy's heart racing.
Ivy has always had sexual chemistry with Jack but as he's her boss and they were both in relationships she stayed away.

But it's Christmas, Jack is going through a divorce, Ivy is newly single.....

They find themselves alone at Christmas.... and what better way to spend the holidays.... together..... hot sex.... lust....and plenty of fun.

Christmas is over and they find themselves out of their bubble. Jack goes back to being her boss. But has things changed? Can Ivy tame her bad boy boss?

I enjoyed reading Just for the rush. Although the title doesn't really live up to the story. The only rush that really happens I guess is the sex scenes and drug use.

Good character development. I didn't like Jack but I believe that is what Jane wanted the reader to feel. Everyone loves a bad boy in a book but he changed and I think it was good how Jane made the reader feel uneasy about him. Even Ivy annoyed me. 6years in a relationship I understand why she held on and there are women and men in those same situations which made the characters believable

I disliked Jack in the beginning, yes he was a bad boy but he was an idiot.
He really didn't portray himself in the best light. He was a cheat and had no sense of emotion.
We all love a bad boy in a book.... but with Jack he changed. Ivy changed him slowly.

Did I want to see Jack and Ivy together yes and no.
Ivy deserved to be happy.
But on the other hand I didn't want her to be with Jack as I couldn't buy into he's whole I've changed.
Guess it's because I've been hurt by a cheat!

Overall a good book, very slow to start. But good characters, sizzling sex scenes, drama and a love story.

Workplace romance. Personally I can’t think of much worse than working alongside (or even worse, working for) your beau, but I might be in the minority on that one. I get that proximity can be alluring and as we’re all spending more time working than ever before, the chance for love to blossom over the photocopier becomes more likely. Throw in a slice of forbidden fruit and we’ve got ourselves a neat little premise for sparks to fly.

(This 2016 piece on office romance is perhaps not scientific but still interesting)

Having said that workplace love isn’t for me, I haven’t worked in an office with Jack, sexy leather-wearing, motorbike-riding, thrill-seeking, risk-taking, divorced dad-ing, love god. If I had, I could possibly be persuaded to think otherwise.

It is an obvious setting for romance; the successful, powerful boss catches the eye of the sassy, independent colleague and there’s fireworks. You’d be forgiven for thinking this is just another steamy love story, punctuated with lots of risky secret sexual encounters. That’s partly true, but it’s about a third of the way through this book when you begin to realise that there is way more to this than first appears.

When Ivy is the victim of a break-in & starts to receive threatening mail, she believes that someone is watching her. Is entering into a secret relationship with her handsome boss really a good idea?

I haven’t cwtched up with a sexy hot romance novel for AGES and boy is this a steamy one. The chemistry between Jack and Ivy crackles off the page as we watch their fun fling develop into something more meaningful. The sexual tension is palpable and makes for a thrilling read. I have to say it was pretty obvious who Ivy’s stalker was, although for me this didn’t detract from the pleasure of finding out for sure.

Significantly more substance than the usual steamy romance, get your copy here. Four cwtches!
(Ps. Oh and the strapline? No-one wants Mr Nice Guy? ….Yeah they do. But he’d better be bad in the nicest possible ways…!)

Just for the Rush isn't really what I was expecting. It isn't horrible, but it's not great either. The sex is hot, but the characters are lacking in development and their connection is pretty thin. The writing is ok, but the pacing is really off. It's much too long and drawn out, and quite frankly, drags A LOT throughout the middle of the book. I almost quit reading halfway through, but I really hate to not finish books, so made myself finish it.

Ivy has just broken up with her long time boyfriend because she wasn't really getting much out of the relationship. So now she's single and her hot boss, who's going through a messy divorce, asks her to spend Christmas with him since neither has plans. They spend a week together having sex and enjoying each other, but when the real world calls, neither knows how to handle their new dynamic. Jack and Ivy spend most of the time figuring out if they even want to be in a relationship, and it's not until near the end that they figure things out. Even then, they only figure it out because something really dramatic happens that flips their thinking. I wanted to really like both Jack and Ivy, but, unfortunately, I didn't end up liking either of them. I didn't feel their connection was anything other than physical, and neither is that nice of a person. Jack is a control freak who likes to experiment with sex and drugs and is addicted to the adrenaline rush. Ivy is his opposite in almost every way except she finds out that she craves the adrenaline too, but in a different sense, she craves the adrenaline that comes with being with an adrenaline junkie. That is why she broke up with her ex, he was too safe. Jack is the opposite of safe and it's really the only thing she likes about him, other than the fact that he's hot and good in bed.

If you can get past the fact that neither character is all that likable, and just want to read some steamy sex, then Just for the Rush might be the book for you. If you want a solid love story with a strong connection, you might want to look elsewhere.

It was good, you have to stick with it, because at first you truly dislike Ivy, and Jack. Ivy is totally unhappy in her relationship with her extremely nice boyfriend, who she has been with for 6 years, but she can not take it anymore, she is bored, and she breaks up with him, you think wow, why wait so long, but as you continue to read, you realize it wasn't that she wanted to hurt him, she felt safe. Then there is Jack her boss, whom she has always been attracted to, but never acted on. He is going thru divorce and both of them are alone for Christmas, so they go for it, and at first you dont like Jack, but he truly changes thru out book. When you read about Ivy, you realize she did the best thing by ending it with Rick, she felt love for him as a friend, and so they stay friends. Someone starts stalking her, and Jack at times, who is it? His crazy ex-wife, or just someone attracted to Ivy. It was interesting, and loved how Jack and Ivy truly fell in love and were devoted to one another.

Looking for your next book to read?? If your looking for a book with some romance, drama, and suspense this is it.
Such a great story by Jane Lark. I couldn't put it down.
I didn't have high expectations since there weren't many reviews out yet. But I sure was surprised how much I loved this book.
Ivy had just ended a long relationship and Jack had filed for a divorce so it was perfect timing for the 2 of them. Who wouldn't want to spend a week with their sexy boss having hot and steamy sex.
And you know there has to be drama with the exes.
The only part I disliked was the beginning where she ended it with her ex. Like she seriously needed to wait 6 years before realizing that she wasn't happy with Rick. I mean come on. You dragged him along making him think there was a future ahead.
Other than that I pretty much loved this whole book from start to finish.
I love the fact that Jack is an adrenaline junkie and he gets Ivy to do some similiar activities with him. There always has to be some compromise in every relationship.

What do you think of when you hear the words just for the rush? Extreme sports, drugs or perhaps even a dare. In this case it is more about having the strength and determination to grab what you want in life. Even if it happens to be a hot-blooded hunk.

I can imagine that quite a few readers will find Jack a wee bit controversial. I know I did, One one hand he is the hot bad boy who could charm the skin off a snake, on the other hand he can be selfish, insensitive and has some really bad habits.

He seems to be nearly incapable of having any kind of intimate interaction, to have fun or relax without some kind of external stimulation. His stimuli of choice is usually weed. I found that slightly irresponsible, especially after he found out about Daisy. Then there is the whole sexual experimentation, which again makes it seem as if he can’t feel at ease or happy unless he is making extreme choices.

So all of that makes for an interesting bad boy, which of course is what most people think girls look for. Is it a myth? Or is it just because there is a ‘bad girl’ in all of us or rather a girl looking for a rush just like Ivy.
I admire Ivy for having the guts to not accept what I would call normal and comfortable. For being bold enough to say no, despite all the opposition, and saying yes to the possibility of a rush. I think everyone should experience that type of breathless intensity at least once in their lives.

Lark knows how to get pulses racing and often infuriate, at the same time she manages to get readers hoping for the happy ending that will warm your cockles. Her characters are passionate, realistic and approachable. A jolly good read.
*Thank you to the publisher for my copy of Just for the Rush.*
