I found that the author added in bits of information about the pianist's life which could have been explored more and i never gained a connection to the character .- how did he feel when a romance broke up for example, no emotions were relayed to the reader. I was disappointed in the book, expecting more detail of how a foreign national settles into a new country and career but felt that the book failed in this.
