I've been hearing so many positive things about Carol Wyer's books that I decided to pick this one up. I read a lot of this type of book and wasn't sure if I needed to start another series. I'm so glad I did! This novel as everything I like about a crime novel; a complex plot; good character development, and a great main character. DI Robyn Carter is returning to the police force after a devastating loss. Robyn begins investigating a teacher who is missing and a man who is murdered. This is a busy novel. In addition to Robyn's story, there are flashbacks to a character, Alice, who was sexually abused as a child and a mother Abigail in the present day who is receiving threatening phone calls. This is quite the page turner. I will definitely be picking of Wyer's second novel, "Secrets of the Dead" very soon.

A gripping, psychological thriller that captivates you from the beginning. Lots of twists and turns that keeps you guessing. Another great female lead detective series with will developed character. I loved this book and look forward to reading more in this series.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of Carol E. Wyer's "Little Girl Lost" in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the first in the series featuring my new favorite bad ass detective Robyn Carter and I stayed up very late last night, I just had to finish it! I'm busy with book number 2 now, can't wait to see if that one is as brilliant as this one!

Still playing catch up with my reading pile, so lucky for me I have book one and two that I can happily read back to back.
I've been looking forward to reading this book, and finally got it to the top of my TBR pile.
I believe this is Carol's first book writing as a crime/thriller author. That alone needs applauding. It's a very well written book, interesting storyline and keeps you gripped throughout.

DI Robyn Carter going back to work after the loss of her husband, but she hasn't been idling about at home, she has been helping her cousin with some PI work.

Robyn is faced with a difficult and complex case, and it takes some figuring out to discover the who and whys with this story.
You are kept interested and gripped throughout the story, it is very well put together and flows effortlessly. Everything in the story finally comes together.
The amount of secrets that are revealed through this book is brilliantly done.
I will be starting the next book shortly and look forward to reading more from this author.

Great, gripping book and I look forward to more of DI Robyn Carter.
The clues were very easy however and I didn't get a "WOW" reveal moment, that said it was still very enjoyable.

I absolutely loved this book. Twists, turns, edge of your seat moments. It's very well written and the scene settings so real. I can't wait to read book 2 in the DI Robyn Carter series, she is such a strong independent character that you just love.

I'm sorry, I wanted to give this book a great review as it's been such a huge success but I couldn't read past the prologue featuring child rape which was too graphic for my liking. I am reviewing on Netgalley to clear it from my bookshelf as reviewed, thank you.

kept me thinking. kept me at the edge of my seat.

I read this basically because I'm a Bookouture thriller-trash. I'll probably read every Bookouture thriller that's out there. Also, check that hook, I'm always into those perfect-family-but-not mysteries. Gotta read them all!

Little Lost Girl opened with a prologue of a young girl ending up being raped by her supposed-to-be step-brother. But before anything can happens, she stabbed him with a pencil (i think?) in the eye. No one believed her when she tried to tell what happened. Because of the incident, her supposed-to-be step-brother's father ended his relationship with her mother which ruined their life thus the revenge plot happens. But where does the perfect-family-but-not plot comes in? Let me tell you.

This detective mystery-thriller novel follows the points of view of: (1) DI Robyn Carter -- so we can try and solve this care. Also, her mind is super sharp and she has strong intuition/gut feeling. Not the best way to solve a case, of course, so she finds things out; (2) Abigail Thorne -- she lives the perfect family life. Her husband has a good job and she just gave birth to her daughter Izzy. However, she started receiving threats pushing her to reveal her secret, whatever that is. She slowly gets paranoid throughout the novel which she even ended up doubting her husband; and (3) the serial killer -- there's a 'now' and 'then' point of view and it's very intriguing. I was really trying to find her out as I read this.

If you've seen my updates on goodreads, I was actually both confused and intrigued by this novel. There were deaths and, of course, I know they're related but how? I even had NO IDEA as to how to relate the disturbing prologue to Abigail Thorne and this anonymous threat she's receiving. All throughout this confusion, I was intrigued to know the connections. I was constantly thinking as to who the serial killer is especially when it was revealed that the girl from the prologue grew up moving places and changing names. It made the entire mystery more difficult. HOW EVEN?

However, throughout this really crazy mystery-thriller, Carol Wyer successfully explained and wrap the mystery up. It was like reading a Christie Mystery and at the end of it all, you'll just have that moment of: oh wow, that actually made sense. That was amazing. Yup, I think this was an amazing mystery with amazing writing that's completely worth reading if you're up for really engaging mystery that will keep you thinking.

DI Robyn Carter is a detective with an unfortunate past and strong intuition. She follows her gut feelings and strongly look for clues from her line of inquiry. She sticks by it which makes her a stubborn detective but she does show results. At some point, she reminded me of Detective Erika Foster because of the death of her husband but DI Carter has her husband's ex-wife and daughter which were really good to her.

OVERALL, Little Lost Girl is a completely intriguing read. Carol Wyer is a great mystery writer. She kept me thinking and always shifting suspects until revelation time. DI Robyn Carter is a must read detective crime thriller if you're a fan of DI Kim Stone by Angela Marsons and Detective Erika Foster by Robert Bryndza!

Detective Inspector Robyn Carter has very good instincts. She's experienced some recent personal tragedies and has been on leave from the police force but is working as a PI until her leave is up. After taking a missing persons case that ends up being so much more her instinct helps put the pieces together.

Robyn has friends looking out for her that know her heart is heavy with loss. I didn't want to put the book down and found myself cooking and doing chores with the book in my face. Lol. This is the first DI Robyn Carter book but it didnt read like a first. Carol Wyer jumps right into the series and gives backstory without weighing you down with it.

Thanks NetGalley for providing me a review copy.

Follow DI Robyn Carter in this British crime thriller as she tries to get to the bottom of family secrets and a number of suspicious deaths.

I found this novel a frustrating read. It is not a regular crime thriller told only from the Police’s point of view but from all the characters involved. Family secrets are hinted at but you are kept in the dark for a very long time. All this hinting from the characters becomes very tedious. To add further frustration, the characters change their names and identity through this novel. There is a lot of misdirection throughout this story but this does not come across as clever, just annoying.

I did not find Little Girl Lost to be an enjoyable read but quite a drag. It did not give me a buzz and did not entertain or enlighten me. I did not develop an empathy for any of the characters. I thought the writing was soap opera quality and it started to grate on me very early on. One character’s chapters were always written in Italics which was both annoying and distracting plus the time frame jumped back and forth between present time normal text characters and the Italic text character explaining what they had done earlier. Sadly Little Girl Lost brings nothing new to the crowded crime thriller genre and this POOR read gets just 2 stars from me.

After suffering through the first chapters of this book that are confusing and slow moving I'm glad I stuck with this and read it through. The rest of the book is action packed and compelling and has a lot to offer.

This book has the most disturbing first chapter of any book I have read. After reading the first chapter I had to put the book down and consider if I wanted to read a story with this subject matter. Thankfully I gave it a go and thoroughly enjoyed the tale of love, hate, secrets and revenge. The story continues the trend of being told by multiple female voices, including the killer over various timeframes. The identity of the Killer wasn't hard to guess because it was made quite clear who it was early on.

The story moves at a good pace and you dont get bogged down with frivolous unnecessary background of the characters. I enjoyed the relationship between Robyn Carter and Ross but at times felt that the dialogue between them was unrealistic and a bit robotic. The writing created suspense and did keep me guessing about who was involved or what secrets they were keeping even if not the identity of the killer. A great start to a new series.

People are going missing, bodies are being discovered. Meanwhile someone is targeting Abby, hoping to ruin her perfect life - why and who would want to do that to her? DI Robyn Carter who is also suffering from traumatic events in her life has to solve the case before there are any more deaths. Despite working out who it was fairly quickly, still enjoyed this novel. I liked how it was written, the "then" parts and how it all fitted together - plenty to get your teeth into. An engrossing book to bite your nails along with! Wonder what Robyn will be asked to solve next!

I cannot praise this book enough! Little Girl Lost is an intricately written story that is fast-paced, gripping, and completely intense. If I didn't have any responsibilities I would have easily devoured this book in one sitting. The story is told through multiple character perspectives connected by abuse, secrets, and revenge. With several twists and turns throughout, the meticulous plot had me sitting on the edge of my seat the entire ride. This book has stayed with me for a long time and I can easily say that this is one of my favorite psychological thrillers. Carol Wyer is brilliantly talented and I cannot wait for the second book in the series to be released!

I love mysteries and thrillers so was glad to be given the opportunity to read the first in a new series. The plot was fast-paced and had me enthralled from the first page. I can't wait to discover more about Detective Robyn Carter as there wasn't time to explore her character a lot in this book. This is one of those books that you won't want to put down!

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I did not add to my blog.

The promotional material promised <I>'a gripping thriller that will have you hooked.'</I> I didn't find Little Girl Lost thrilling, and I definitely wasn't hooked. In fact it has, for me, taken an inordinately long time (5 days) to read because I just could not feel any involvement with either the characters or the plot. It was quite a flat read. If anything, I felt it was all slightly 'overdone' and the writing was quite laboured and superficial in places.

I didn't have any real trouble with the time-line; the story is told in chunks of 'then' and 'now', and was reasonably easy to follow. But I didn't get any sense of suspense or excitement as I read and that is what I was looking for.

I am not going to try and précis the plot - it is quite impossible to do without giving things away, but I will say that I had figured out who Alice had reinvented herself as by midway through the book. That on its own wasn't enough to cause me not to enjoy the book, it was just one of many things.

And there was one piece of utter stupidity almost at the end of the book, which for me was the final straw - <spoiler> Detective Robyn Carter has found Rachel and unbound her. Rachel is telling her what happened and says <I>"...and then it dawned on me who the person was."</I> Robyn's reply is not <i>"Who was it?"</I> to confirm her suspicions, but a very inane <I>"I know you haven't had time to look, but do you think they've stolen anything?"</I> WHAT????? A baby has been abducted, she needs the identity of this person confirmed, and she is asking if anything has been stolen. </spoiler>

2.5 stars

Little Girl Lost by Carol Wyer is a fast paced, edge of your seat thriller that you'll want to get your hands on asap! Trust me! This series ( yay , I need more stat!!!) follows the main character, DI Robyn Carter as she delves into murders that seemingly have no connections. It starts with a missing school teacher, a murdered famous actor, and your mind is reeling as Robyn races to connect the dots before any more bodies turn up dead.

More people turn up dead, others are threatened and receive mysterious threatening notes, phone calls and messages. This book had me guessing the entire time! I My nerves were on edge as I flew through the pages, my heart racing.

The author did such an incredible job with this book. It started off with a bang and it never dropped a beat. It was an intense, and fast read that will keep you guessing the entire time. I highly recommend it and can't wait for the next book in this series!
