I love a lot of things to do with Cupcakes so when I saw the name of the book, I could help but read it. I did struggle to get into the book, but I do think anyone who like books about cafe's, cupcakes and summer will like this book. I will definitely see if the authors next book is one that is more up my street..

This isbook 2 out of 3 in a series. You can read this book as a stand alone.
Dora has come back home from America. She is an actress and was just let go from her tv series.
Millie owns Cupcake cafe and has just let go of her love of a lifetime.
The book is ok, a little slow. I liked the characters and the story but just a little wordy. I would like to read the rest of the series just to see how everything develops

This was the second book in this trilogy by Georgia Hill. Taking place on the UK Coast, some of the similar cast of characters return for the second book. I liked focus on Dora and Mike this time around. I don't know what it is about Jed and Millie, but they kind of annoy me. More Jed than Millie. The character of Jed just seems to fake. Thankfully they weren't major characters in this book. I enjoyed getting to know Dora & Mike and the story of putting on a play in a local town. I'm looking forward to the third book.

After being introduced to the Cupcake Cafe, I was intrigued to see what would happen in the summer. Millie is on her own again after her Spring romance with rich boy Jed, but her cafe is surviving and so is she, especially when her school best friend returns to Berecombe unexpectedly.

Dora, a successful actress returns home and finds Millie's love life in tatters. Determined to see her friend happy she doesn't
expect her own heart to be threatened when someone from her past returns to challenge and allure her.

Dora and Mike's love story is poignant and steamy in equal measures and mirrors the theatre production they both find themselves involved with. Millie and Jed's path to true love is equally frustrating and seems unlikely to have a happy ending until Millie can trust Jed again.

The older generation is determined not to be outdone in the romance stakes and provide much of the humour in this story, which seesaws between laughter and tears.

Another cliffhanger ending makes reading the festive chapter of this story a must.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I quite liked this second book of the Millie Vanilla's Cupcake Café but not as much as the first book. I really like to be back in Millie's life and Jed's life. We also get to know Dora, Millie's friend and Dora's highschool sweetheart. The story was lovely but a bit too much focused to my liking on the theater play that Dora is working on. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book.

I loved the first book so it was really great to get this book and catch up with the previous characters and there was the introduction of new characters which I thought was great and kept the book fresh and gave us more story etc. Can't wait for part 3!!

Summer Loves, the second book in the MIllie Vanillia´s Cupcake Cafe series was a gentle, rollicking adventure, focusing on the two romances between cafe owner Millie and businessman Jed and the love affair between the ever dramatic Dora and Mike. The novel had the added buzz of being a story within a story as Dora was the lead actress in an adaption of the novel - Persuasion by Jane Austen and her love affair with Mike closely followed this plot. Millie and Jed´s romance also had it´s own complications, particularly when Jed´s mother and brother popped up towards the end of the novel. At times I felt that the characters, were too one-dimensional and the plot-lines predictable however it was a gentle, summer read. I look forward to read the third book to see the future of the romance between Millie and Jed.

A story told in four points of view, there are two romances winding their way through a story that focuses on a local play as a means to raise money. Newly returned residents of town, Mike and Dora, have left successful Hollywood careers to return home. There is a past between them, not always a happy one, and their story unfolds as they learn to work together in this new dynamic. Mike is the director and a bit difficult - as all are – because he sees the success of the production as a feather in his cap: raise money to refurbish the town’s theatre and whip a bunch of amateurs into shape. All will look good on his resume. Dora, returning afer a cancelled series is good friends with Millia, and not entirely certain she wants to work with Mike again for several reasons, but she makes it difficult to empathize with her at first: pulling Diva-like stunts, often to the chagrin and dismay of her friend Millie.

But, all is not lost for Millie: she’s still stuck in to making her café a success, and while she’s thrilled to have her friend back, two things are weighing on her. There’s competition and her shop is truly past needing a makeover: but she is cash poor and work heavy. Add to that her continued concerns about her new maybe-love relationship with Jed, and her worries about his trustworthiness. With Dora about and needing friendly chatter and distraction, she’s completely focused on her work and can’t seem to find a way to make time for herself. Her moments with Jed, especially to work /move forward on their relationship, and to settle her own concerns about him seriously take a back seat to the drama surrounding the production and her friend Dora’s own situation.

This was fun and clever with plenty of moments where it was easy to picture (or almost taste) the scene. The town comes alive with vivid descriptions and the addition of just about anything you might find in a small British town: a theatre, cafés, tea, Austen references and plenty of ambience. Food is also a character: Millie’s first love is baking and her creations are mentioned and described well enough to taste. While we see the gradual reforming of a relationship with Dora and her childhood first love Mike, we also get a taste of Millie and Jed’s relationship, but each falls into the background as the play, and all the issues that would arise with the production, including the fallout to the other characters takes the main stage. I’ve purchased the first and hope to read it soon, to discover Millie and Jed’s start: and can’t wait for the next.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

4 - "Right pair, aren't we?" Stars!

I really enjoyed the first novella in the Millie Vanilla Cupcake Café series, so it was great to go back to the seaside town of Berecombe and have a Summer catch up with some of them.

IMAGE.

You could probably read this installment without getting confused too much about who was who, but I would recommend that you read the first novella if you can, as it gives you the beginnings of Jed and Millie’s relationship, and also gives the reasonings as to why it is at the stage it is in this novella.

"I’d forgotten how good snogging in a car could be."

But this novella also focuses on newly returned residents Dora and Mike, the former from a successful acting career in the U.S, and the latter a successful directing career in the theatre. This is a couple with a past, and that is bought firmly to the fore when they find themselves involved with a production of Persuasion being bought to the towns run-down theatre. Mike as director is trying to bring some money into the theatre for desperately needed repairs, Dora for the same reason, but also to keep busy.

"There’s something about you that makes me behave in a very ungentlemanly fashion."

I took a while to warm to Dora to be honest, she was a bit of a self-entitled cow at the beginning, but once the author gives you a little more insight into the past relationship between her and Mike, you can understand why she’s a tad prickly around him.

"You don’t have a bad side… Never did."

The four POVs from Millie, Jed, Mike and Dora, keep the story moving along and it’s essentially two stories running concurrently. I am a little frustrated with the Millie and Jed side of the equation, and hope that the author, gives them a little more page time and a chance to work things out in the final novella; Christmas Weddings due for release in September.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this review copy.

This is the second book of Millie Vanilla’s Cupcake Café series. This series is best read in order to understand the story properly. We are back in Berescombe and back with Millie and her Cupcake Café. We are introduced to new characters, mainly Dora and Mike. Dora is a successful Berescombe actress who has made her name as a soap star in the States. Loved it cannot wait for the third book

This was a cute little read which didn't take too long at all. It was a nice next installment in this series though not a lot of time was dedicated to Millie and I would have liked to see a bit more of her story evolve in this. Though the characters the story did focus on were nice and their own story was sweet. Again it's an easy summer read and a nice little getaway.

This is the second book in the series and this time we get to know Dora and Mikes story.
I loved hearing their story but after waiting so long to hear how Mille and Jed were getting on I have to say I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t more focus on them. They seemed to be demoted to secondary characters. In saying this I still love the series and cannot wait to see what happens next. I’m also hopeful that the next instalment will be all about Millie and Jed!

Thnaks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars. What a charming second part of the Millie Vanilla's series. In this book we meet new characters and learn about new relationships.

I will be honest and say I preferred Millie's part of the book - and her relationship with Jed - than I did Dora and Mike's story. I'm not sure why, maybe it was because the first book was all about Millie that I expected the second to be the same? But overall I definitely preferred Millie's story.

I loved the growing relationship between Millie and Jed and even though Millie didn't think that they suited, I thought that they did! I found Jed to be so gentlemanly and romantic! He was very kind and loving towards Millie and isn't that what every chick lit reader wants to read?

Their relationship developed hugely in this second part of Millie Vanilla's and I found their relationship interesting and really lovely. The story was easy to read and I really enjoyed it.

Overall, I loved reading more about Millie's relationship with Jed (if you couldn't tell) and I found this book quite heartwarming. I'm looking forward to the next one to see where the story can go!

Millie's Cupcake Cafe has got some competition from a new cafe that's opened and is taking her customers away. While trying to keep the cafe open her first boyfriend Mikey Love who now likes to be known as Mike comes back to Berecombe. He's a director who's putting on a show at the local theatre as a tribute to the local person who built it. Georgia's descriptions of Berecombe make it so real and makes you want to visit.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advance copy of Millie Vanilla's Cupcake Café book 2 in exchange for an honest review.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series and it's great how each book is based around a different person in the village. There's a lot happening in this book and you go through a journey of feelings - happiness, sadness, lots of ups and downs and some really funny moments. Perfect for a beach holiday. 4 out of 5 stars for me.
