When Kate's childhood sweetheart husband Matt dumps her rather than sitting at home moping she decides that it is now time to travel - Matt would never go anywhere - and first on her list is Rome

Arriving in the city Kate makes friends with Jamie an American tourist and then meets the gorgeous Alessandro, a policeman - and who wouldn't fall for a sexy Italian in uniform!

With just a week will things work out for Kate or will she return home with a broken heart - luckily there is another book due to carry on the story!

There aren't a lot of surprises here but Tenant, as always, writes a nice light, entertaining romance. This is wonderful escapist fiction. Kate and Alessandro make a lovely couple; all the little problems they encounter in their romance are not going to stand in their way. Tenant does a good job with the Italian setting (ah....) and Alessandro's family. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Try this one for a good relaxing chick lit read!

The story primarily takes place in beautiful, sunny, tourist-filled Rome. Our main character, Kate, goes to Rome on an impulse after her marriage is shattered. Rome is the perfect place to get away from her problems - plus it's something her ex-husband would never have done. Unfortunately, nobody warned Kate that tourists are the target of many scams in Rome - including the numerous purse-snatching attempts. I was just in Rome 2 years ago, and indeed, we were incredibly careful with our items, so this actually made me giggle (in a oh-i-can-imagine-what-you're-going-through sort of way). :-)

Kate gets over this trauma relatively quickly, aided in no small way by a good looking local police officer. Yay, men in uniform! Sparks fly from the beginning, and it's fun to watch their relationship grow. I was actually more smitten with Kate's newly-formed friendship with US business traveler Jamie.

I would classify this as a very light romance. While there some amusing interactions, it wasn't so light that I'd call it "chic lit", and it had less humor than other books I've read that fall into that category. And while I did really enjoy the interactions between the characters, some of the descriptions felt a little bit over-done. There's a pretty large cast of characters, and I think the author did a really good job giving each one their own unique personality. Rarely (if ever?) did I confuse them. I also enjoyed the little bit of intrigue with Jamie, though it's possible Kate is more patient than I am!

I thought the book was "ok" but honestly expected a bit more. Sometimes I was more amused by the UK-English language than by the plots; I think there were some missed opportunities for some fun Italian misunderstandings. All this said, I will still read the next book because I want to find out what happens, so obviously I still enjoyed this despite some of my quibbles. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would!

I am a massive fan of Tilly Tennant's books and have read nearly all of her releases so far (I'm working on the remaining ones at the moment), and I have to say that her writing style is one of my favourites.  I love the pace of her books, the characters always have good personalities and depth and they help her bring the words to life and will admit I loved this book, it made me feel all mushy inside and really played on my pregnancy hormones!!

I was delighted when I picked up a copy of this book and loved every page.  I've been to Rome myself and have walked some of the same streets mentioned.  I really enjoyed Kate's story and the next book in the series, A Wedding in Italy is just as good and out later in the month - keep your eye out as I'm on the blog tour for it! :)

Rome Is Where The Heart Is, is another lovely read, 5 stars from me and its out now!

The title of the book caught when i was browsing NetGalley and i thought it would be a nice, light reading. But it was really lighter than necessary! My mistake was that i did not read the summary, otherwise i would have skipped it.
Kate just got a divorce after Matt, her husband for the last 12 years, decided it is not what he wanted after all. So, after the first devastating months she decided to take control over her life, and do all the things she dreamed of starting with a nice holiday in Rome.
So far so good.
But, for her first day in Rome she falls for this handsome Italian policeman! And from that part i felt i did not really enjoy the story anymore.
For a woman professing to become independant , she turned out to be particularily needy. I am sorry to say i did not like Kate at all, or her ways nor decisions.
The story in itself was not bad, there was some funny moments that i enjoyed but that was all.

Wonderful, lovely book! I am so happy to have decided to read this one! I loved the fact that half of the book takes place in Rome, Italy. It felts like going on a vacation! loved it! and I really loved the main character Kate, I recognized myself in her a lot, her story was so much like my own in many aspects and it was so nice to read about someone going through the same issues. I really loved also the character of Alessandro...we all want a guy like him in our lives! and I really loved to read about Kate's strong bond with her sisters. I understand that there is a sequel to this book and I really can't wait to read more about Kate and Alessandro's adventures in Italy!
I totally recommend this book! Tilly Tennant is an excellent writer in my opinion!

I liked the sound of the second book in the series so much I thought I had better read this book first.
I had never read anything by Tilly Tennant before but loved this book apart from the ending which I felt was a little rushed.
I am really looking forward to the second book in this series and reading more of this romance. I may then read the more English back catalogue by this author.
I was given this book by Netgalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Tilly Tenant is one of my favourite chick lit Authors and this book was a joy. It was really nice to have the book set in Rome and the love story definitely has a feel good factor.

I love a book like this, it transports you away to another country with almost no effort. The author has done an amazing job with this story.

My favourite character, apart from Kate, has to be Jamie. He introduces Kate to the Rome some people don't get to see in such a way that the reader can almost see the scene in their mind. At least, that was how it was for me.

The story flows very well, the characters are all extremely well written, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I was delighted to discover there is another book in the series and I can't wait to find out what happens to all of the characters.

Many thanks to Bookouture and a Netgalley for providing a copy.

I love a book that makes me laugh, it definitely warrants a 4 star from me when it achieves that but when it goes one step further to make me snort tea, then it quickly moves up to a firm 5 star rating and giggle I did, time after time. After finding her cowardly husband trying to sneak off from the house they lived in together, Kate decides that she needs to get away from the dull and gloomy shores of the UK and head for one of the most romantic cities in the world, Rome.  I mean even saying the word Rome makes you pucker your lips.
Well you know those times in your life when you think things can’t get worse, and then they do, well that is Kate at the moment and she seriously begins to doubt her ability to judge men’s characters. Is she really so gullible? So when circumstances cause her to be involved with the police twice in two days, it makes you wonder if this is all bad luck or a twist of fate?
What a super story this is. I loved the quaint cafes, sunny climate and of course the will they won’t they romance that was bubbling away for Kate and the special man that she had met. It had the added bonus of the different life styles, family expectations and the worry of it being just an holiday romance or something much more. How I wanted this to work for Kate, a character that I could see myself being friends with, whispering in her ear to go for it. I have already mentioned how this book made me giggle, which I think is important in a story that has such raw emotions in it and Tilly Tennant has achieved the perfect balance for an all round good feel factor book, that can be read at home or at the side of a pool, where you can take a break, take a quick look around and think, ‘I wonder’

I do love a good romance and this is such a lovely one. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Kate, her sister's and the other wonderful characters in this book. It isn't often I read a book in less than three days, so that says a lot. I was captivated! I love Tilly Tennant's writing.
Kate is 30 and when we first meet her she is scared and confused as her husband, Matt, suddenly decides he's had enough and is leaving her. They were childhood sweethearts and he's all she's ever known. What is she supposed to do now?
She gets through it with the support of her two sister's. (I loved the relationship the three sisters share. They reminded me of me and my siblings.) When her decree absolute comes through she decides she needs some excitement in her life. She has always wanted to travel, but Matt had never been keen, so before she has the chance to over-think it, she books herself a week in Rome. She looks forward to a week on her own, seeing the sights, relaxing in her posh hotel and eating when and where she fancies. Nothing could prepare her for the week she was about to experience though. Before the end of the week she has found a new best friend called Jamie and romance in the shape of Alessandro. I loved the relationship she developed with Jamie. He's someone I think I would get on with too.
Alessandro is a lovely character. He's a cop, so tough when he needs to be, but also very sweet. He's a very likeable character. It's easy to see what Kate sees in him. There is an obvious attraction between him and Kate from the very first time they meet, despite it not exactly being Kate's finest moment! A very funny moment, but one Kate would prefer to forget. There are many funny moments throughout this book and I laughed out loud on more than one occasion.
Kate is understandably cautious of her attraction to Alessandro at first. She is only there for a week after all. She soon starts to fall for Rome though, as well as one of it's most handsome residents. How can this possibly end happily for anyone?
I really warmed to Kate and I think she is really brave. I can't imagine hopping on a plane, alone, to a country I have never visited before. It sounds exciting, but I would be far too chicken! It's great to read about though. I've always wanted to go to Italy (just not on my own) and this has made me want to even more. It sounds amazing!
Many thanks, as always, to Bookouture for my auto-approval status on Netgalley and to Kim Nash for inviting me to be a part of the blog tour for this fabulous book.
I highly recommend!

Do you need a vacation but it isn’t happening anytime soon? Me too, but after reading this gem of a book I feel as if I’ve had a refreshing holiday in Rome, it provided an absolutely lovely escape from reality and transported me to the sunny streets of Italy.

Poor Kate, when the story begins she’s just been unceremoniously dumped by her oblivious husband Matt. He seriously needs to get a clue, and though Kate knows she’s better off without him, that’s easier said than done. They’ve been together for almost twenty years after all, and while being suddenly single and free again is exciting, it’s also scary for her. Looking for a way to escape and heal her heartbreak, she books a vacation to Rome, all alone. She has plans to sightsee and eat plenty of delicious Roman cuisine, but almost as soon as she arrives, things don’t go according to her plans, but is that always a bad thing?

I LOVED the characters in this book, Kate is warm and likable, and her relationship with her two sisters, Anna and Lily was sweet and genuine. She meets Jamie in Rome and they immediately hit it off (as friends) he’s there on business from New York and he was just a whole lot of fun, just the type of friend Kate needs at the right time. Alessandro is a local police officer who represents everything you would picture in terms of a sexy Italian man. I kept hearing his accent in my head and let’s just say I could completely understand why Kate was charmed by him. He has a crazy, dynamic family with five sisters and a typical Italian mother. They were all easy to like and made me laugh.

This was my first Tennant book and I was drawn to her easy, breezy writing style. The beautiful backdrop of Rome was the perfect setting for love and romance and then add in the food? Heavenly! I was suddenly craving good wine and even better food, guess I need to book myself an Italian vacation. I loved the storyline but what I appreciated the most was that even though Kate and Alessandro had an instant connection, it wasn’t a quick fix to happily ever after. Kate returns home and has to deal with her ex and family making it so much more real than if she had stayed with Alessandro initially. I’m so pleased that this is the first book in a new series and the second book is out in April, can’t wait to see what happens with these two next.

Kate came home from work sooner than usually and that’s when she found her husband about to leave. It was unexpected and hurt her, but life goes on and she decides to do something her husband didn’t like-go travelling. She decides to go to Rome all by herself. Right after arriving in Rome, she meets Jamie, who’ll become a big part of her vacation and their friendship does not end in Rome. While discovering the magical Rome, Kate also meets Alessandro, who is a policeman. Kate tries to find balance between her sisters, Jamie and Alessandro. Kate’s sisters worry about her and they keep in touch as much as possible. Kate enjoys the company of her new friend Jamie, but her heart beats faster for Alessandro. Kate is in Rome for a short time, is their love going to survive the distance?

I really enjoyed the book, I loved the deep connection between the sisters and also the atmosphere in Rome. Kate’s stay in Rome was full of adventures and different happenings, which were so much fun to read about. As I really enjoyed this book, I can’t wait to read the second book and head back to Rome and meet the wonderful characters again.

I have really enjoyed everything I have read from Tilly Tennant, so I was looking forward to reading this one, and, indeed, wasn't surprised to find myself spellbound by this title too. Once I got started, I found it difficult to put down, so there were quite a few late nights Kindle in hand. I have never been to Rome, although it is on my list of places to visit, but Tilly brought the city to me nicely, with her descriptions of the famous landmarks, the gorgeous food and wonderful restaurants, and the people themselves.

The story revolves around Kate, who suddenly finds herself free to do as she wishes after her long time marriage to childhood sweetheart Matt comes to an end when he walks out. Kate has always wanted to travel but been held back by Matt's unwillingness to venture far. She sets off for a holiday in Rome, a city she has longed to experience more than anywhere. There she first encounters Jamie, an American who helps her find her way around and introduces her to some of the Roman culture, and then meets the incredibly handsome Alessandro, a local policeman. By the end of her week, she finds that she has not only fallen in love with a city, but also with a man and has made a new friendship that is made to last. When she finally has to return home, Kate is torn between a desire to up sticks and return to this place she has become incredibly drawn towards and her family, especially her sisters Anna and Lily with whom she has a close relationship.

Although this is a beautiful love story, all is not plain sailing for the main characters. There is quite a bit of drama going on throughout, with a few mishaps at home and in Rome for Kate and her fiends and family. It all adds up to a book which, as I said at the beginning, is difficult to put down. I'm glad to see that there is a sequel on the horizon. I'm looking forward to finding out how things progress for everyone and experience a little more of life in Rome.

Errrrr and the award for the biggest testa di cazzo goes to.....!! WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?! It wasn't WHAT Matt did (people are entitled to dump their partners if they see fit), it was the WAY he did it. Geez Louise, even I got angry and I wasn't the one getting dumped! I think that Kate was perhaps a little too easy on him, but then I would say that haha.

I really didn't know what to make of Kate, especially after the Matt incident outside the flat. Part of me was hoping that she would come out of her shell a bit more and become a bit more bulshy to the situations she didn't agree with, instead of just sitting there and taking it. Yet, the other part of me was thinking that her 'over the top of the head' persona, may end up working in her favour. I'll be honest, I couldn't call it either way and I was looking forward to watching Kate's journey in Rome.

Tilly Tennant taking us to Rome was an amazing experience. Okay, I didn't experience it first hand (don't be picky!), but as always, Tilly's trademark ability of enveloping her readers in a hug via her words was evident from the very start. She really does have such a cosy writing style; even when she is making her characters do fun things whilst they're drunk! Let's just say that there were a lot of entertaining situations happening during Kate's time in Rome, and not just for her either! Various interesting characters popped up on Kate's holiday, some more interesting than others but all memorable in their own ways. Several things made Tilly's novel stand out from the other novels I have read set in Rome, such as how Tilly didn't describe a focal point or a monument as just being that, 'a monument'. Every historic feature, every food course, every emotion of the city were described in such a beautiful and delicate way, and it completely blew me away.

There were a few moments within the storyline where I found myself disconnecting from what was going on, as I didn't find Kate and Alessandro's relationship that authentic. Now, I have never had a holiday romance so that may be why my heart wasn't connecting to it fully. Or maybe it's because I more ice queen than a soppy romantic....so I've been told haha!

Despite my reservations with Dr.Love (ahem), Tilly Tennant's novel was perfect for me to lay on the sofa with, calm my thoughts, and escape.

'Rome Is Where The Heart Is' is a beautiful getaway for the mind, as well as being yet another relaxing and light-hearted read from the incredibly talented, Tilly Tennant.

Thank you Bookouture.

This book is labeled as "an uplifting romance," which is in no way false advertising.

Fresh off a divorce she isn't sure she wanted, Manchester-based Kate heads to Italy for a week-long visit. She's at more than just a marital crossroads: she has a job she can't stand, and her dream home is more than she can afford. Her two sisters are firmly entrenched in their own relationships, and her mother lives in Scotland with her new husband. If anyone is ripe for change, it's Kate.

She meets two men in Rome who nearly immediately alter her life's trajectory. First is Jamie, a New Yorker in Rome for business. He becomes a fast friend and challenges her to think beyond what she finds comfortable. Then there is Alessandro, a police officer who challenges her to consider love a second time.

Tilly Tennant writes a cute, sweet romance that makes you smile. If her occasional attempts at showing a divide between UK language and American language falls flat (for instance, Americans know what "bull in a china shop" and "happy medium" mean), her ability to create characters who entertain you does not. A subplot involving Kate's mother goes nowhere, but Tennant makes up for it with a poignant thread involving one of Kate's sisters.

This is the first of a series, and I'm in for the others. If nothing else, Tilly Tennant makes me want to go to Rome really badly.

I loved this book!! It was so well written and I found myself imaging I was in Italy too - it's made me really want to visit (something I wasn't too bothered about before!). I loved the storyline and the bond that the 3 sisters had. I was so upset for Lily when she lost the baby and thought perhaps Tilly wouldn't go to Italy after all so I was very happy with the books ending! It was funny, romantic and covered a couple of serious topics well. I will be keeping an eye out on this author in the future - I'm also excited to note that the second book is already up on NetGalley!! I'll be putting a blog up about this book next week - thank you for the chance to read it.

Kate is married to Matt, they were childhood sweethearts who made the next step.

The next step probably should have been children. But for Matt it was separation.

The next step for Kate is unknown. She is in a dead-end job, which she tolerates, just and her love is for dressmaking.

At the chance to change her life, she books herself a holiday to Rome, on her own. It is time she did something with her life.

At the airport she meets Jamie, who helps guide her through a city so she can see just as much of the tourist attractions as she does of the real Rome. However, Jamie has problems of his own and it is when he leaves Kate alone she finds herself on the Spanish Steps.

That is where Alessandro finds her.

Kate had not gone to Rome to find love, but something has captured her love, for the place, the buildings, the way of life, the food, the people and Alessandro is determined to make an impact on her life and a dent in her heart in the time she is there.

Trouble is Alessandro has five sisters, a strong matriarch family head and a rather jealous ex. It is never going to go well for Kate, especially as tragic events back in England means she has to go back home.

Will Alessandro just be a past ghost or will Kate be able to maintain the dream of Rome, of Love whilst back in Manchester.

The book did start off a bit slowly for me, but it picked up pace once Kate was in Rome and I flew through the pages and the story as if I was a tourist in Rome itself. Tennant has brought the characters to life very well, I could almost sense the expectation in Alessandro's home when Kate first goes there. Just as much as I could feel the despair and desolation when Kate returns home to finalise some issues and put a closure on one part of her life. I was most annoyed at her elder sister Anna, who seemed to be ready to take over Kate's life, her constant interference whilst well-meant was positively irritating. But for me those feelings and emotions are the sign of a writer who has created a story which gets under your skin and characters who you actually care about.

Another book to escape on holiday with, without even having to get out of your pajamas for.

I was given an ecopy of Rome is Where the Heart Is by Bookouture, Tilly's publisher in exchange for an honest review, something that I'm more than happy to do.

The main character is Kate, her marriage has suddenly ended and she's bereft. She needs some time out and decides to totally escape her life and embarks on a solo trip to Rome to gather her thoughts and gain some traction on her life. Her sisters, are seriously worried about her plans and make her promise to keep in touch - something that she finds difficult as she is absorbed into Italian life.

This is such a lovely, feel good book. Tilly Tennant has the ability to suck you right into the heart of a story and Rome Is Where the Heart Is had me hooked. It is such a sensory read I so want to go to Rome now and walk the routes Kate trod as she discovered the city, tried new foods, made friends, plans and found love - I felt as though I was there with her the descriptions are so vivid the story just wrapped itself around my heart.

This is ultimately a romantic read. It couldn't be anything but, the cover just exudes sunshine and happiness and brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. It isn't all hearts and flowers though and there are a few mysteries to solve along the way too.

I loved the way Tilly provided an instant friend in Italy for Kate, she so deserved some happiness and support. Arriving in Italy Kate stood out as a tourist and is about to be ripped off when she was rescued by Jamie, larger than life, with an air of mystique that runs throughout the book. My thoughts about him yo-yo'd as he ambushes Kate's holiday and she finds herself in more than one awkward situation - one such incident though brings her face to face with the delicious policeman, Allesandro so all is not bad. He's another man who takes her under her wing and gives her a glimpse of real, Italian life. The instant, romantic connection between the pair fizzed off the page and I silently crossed my fingers for a romantic, happy ending for them.

This was the perfect book to read, it inspires hope, happiness and thoughts of good things to come, a perfect slice of deliciousness that had me oohing and aching through every chapter. A dream like book, that melted my heart and has left me wanting just a little bit more. I'm off to the travel agents now - Italy here I come.
