Lovely book, lovely stories. This book was light and easy to read.
I enjoyed the first book, Paris for One, in this short story collection. However, I felt the others were too short, I would be just getting to grips with the characters and the plot and it would be over. I often found I was reading the next story without realising. The writing itself was still up to Moyes' high standard, so no faults from a quality point of view but in future I think I will stick to full length novels as I like to really get my teeth into a plot line.
I basically got this book because I was very curious for Jojo Moyes' short story Paris for One. So I was happy when this book started with this story and this story did not disappoint. It was fun and cute and I loved following its characters in Paris. The other stories though were a bit hit and miss for me. The other longer one is the sequel to a novel that I hadn't read so I felt a bit like I was missing vital information to understand what was going on and why the characters were acting that way.
And then, we had several really short stories. Some were OK but a couple of them were very different to what you expect from Jojo Moyes. This shouldn't be bad per se but I had a hard time following these stories. Especially with the robbery one... it didn't make sense for me...
I have to say though that they were really quick to read so most of them were a nice distraction. Especially if you are between books and don't want to get invested in a heavy and long story right away.
I loved this!! It was one of those books that fell into my hands at the right time, I needed to feel transported and Moyes delivered. I felt like I was walking the streets of Paris and was utterly disappointed when the book had to end. The collection of stories developed alongside each other and easily begin as the previous finished. I will be recommending this to everyone, a thoroughly enjoyable read!
Really enjoyed it. I don't usually like short stories but as this was JoJo Moyes, I wanted to give it a try and I'm so glad I did! Wonderful stories!
I really enjoyed all the short stories but I especially liked Honeymoon in Paris where we get to see a little backstory of the characters from The Girl You Left Behind. The perfect book for summer.
I enjoyed this book very much and could have read it in one go, but I showed some restaint and finished it in two nights!! The people in the book were very believable, true to life and very like people we all know in real life. A book for a vacation where we can imerse ourselves in a fun loving story.
This book had 11 stories. I liked the first one which was the longest. Then I lost interest from then on. I felt the stories were quite dated and they did not appeal to me.
I never used to be a fan of short sorties but in the last 12 months I have really got into them. This collection of stories are all about relationships that have some problem. I found the collection of stories enjoyable but I had hoped they would all be set in Paris. There are only two stories that are.
I would recommend the book as a holiday read even though there are a couple of stories set around Christmas time.
A lovely book of quick and easy reads by jojo moyes. It's the kind of book I would pass on to a reluctant reader as the short stories are lighthearted but interesting enough to draw you in. A wonderful introduction to Jojo's work.
I love Jojo Moyes and everything she writes. Paris for One and Honeymoon in Paris are my favourite short stories of this book, although I liked most of them. It portraits life and all the dramas in the romantic part of. All the stories are kind of different, but all of them has the romance as a subject. It was really enjoyable and easy to read this book.
Thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange of my honest review.
I love books by JoJo Moyes, so was really excited to read this. The 11 short stories were quickly devoured and although short there were some good twists. I haven't read short stories for a long time, but this has encouraged me to give them a try. It would be a great holiday read as you can dip in and out without losing the plot. My only criticism is that the writing is maybe not quite so developed as previous literature by Moyes, I wondered if they were her earlier writings?
Oh what a fab fab read! This book may come in a small package but it certainly packs a massive punch. I had no expectations going into this book, which i think is the best way sometimes don't you? I sat down with a glass of wine and this in my hand and i didn't get up until i had finished both. (This is the perfect length of book for a large glass of red by the way). This book has all the feels. I loved Nell, she really blossomed over the 95 pages of this cute little novella and i had completely fallen in love with her by the end. Her confidence and self-belief grew and she learned how to have fun and be spontaneous.
This book has romance and laughs, a little bit of sorrow and the beautifully described city of Paris. I loved the descriptions of zooming around Paris on a moped, no detail is left out , despite the short length of this novella. The wine and the coffee sounded amazing so i really do defy you not to at least want a croissant whilst reading this delightful little offering. There were also parts which made me laugh, Nell's friends and her American nemesis provide the laughs in spades and along with the aw factor, the writing style was wholly satisfying|!
There are two possible suitors for Nell's heart and the French one of those two will definitely melt your own heart and he's a writer too. They've both been hurt and so you know that makes for the best kind of will they won't they situation. because Nell is only in Paris for a couple of nights, her trip is a short as the book and so you are definitely left wanting more. This ends on a delightful cliffhanger and i so so want to find out from Jojo Moyes exactly what happen next...like now!
Paris for one by Jojo Moyes a surprisingly short four-star read. The main story made me love it, the plot was great, the characters were fab, they made you care and want to follow the story, my only problem is I felt it was way too short. I am a huge JoJo Moyes fan so I think that’s why I was expecting the stories to be longer, just felt I couldn’t sink my teeth fully, but if you are after some short fun stories this is the one for you.
Delightful collection of short stories
What a delightful collection of short stories. I have read a couple of Jojo Moyes’ novels and enjoyed them immensely, so I was excited to read her short stories and I was not disappointed.
There are eleven stories in total and each one is a complete story, a glimpse into the lives of the characters and their emotions and dreams and loves and heartache. Jojo Moyes writes with total conviction and has a way of getting to the very heart of what makes us all tick and this resonates with the reader.
I am a hopeless romantic at heart so the first story - Paris for One - was my favourite. Jojo Moyes writes with such empathy that the reader is drawn into the story from the first couple of words and this ensures that the reader is captured by the unfolding drama of the story.
Each story is cleverly constructed with a couple of good old fashioned twists to the tale which I always enjoy.
I am usually not a fan of short stories, for some reason I am always left wanting more but not this time, hence the 5-star rating.

I don't usually read books with short stories in but this book definitely surprised me. Each story is unique, and all different lengths. Perfect book to get you back into reading if you're in a slump, or while commuting. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this book from Jojo Moyes. This book was a number of short stories that started with the main one, Paris for One. The main character Nell thinks she is being whisked to Paris for the weekend by her unreliable boyfriend so when she finds herself boarding the Eurostar on her own she is out of her comfort zone. Being in an unfamiliar city on her own is very strange to Nell and not what she imagined for her weekend. She manages to convince herself to stay and has an experience she'll never forget, with a few twists and turns along the way, this is a really heartwarming story. The other short stories are just as good and the main female characters are from different backgrounds as well as different eras .Jojo Moyes keeps the reader entertained with these lighthearted short stories.
