This is supposed to be none short stories. Not read anything by Jojo Moyles before but enjoying the first story Paris for one. This is a lovely novelette that takes you to about 40% into the book.

Between the tweets

Ok I didn't like this one at all.

Love in the afternoon

This is a few pages long and a nice quick scene but I wouldn't class it as a story. Nice enough for a few minutes though.

A bird in the hand

Another quick little reads but a good quick scene that tells enough to warrant a story.

Crocodile Shoes

Oh this is a little gem I can relate too. Short and sweet but a good story.

Holdups

This is my favourite out of the shorter stories. Funny and sweet.

Honeymoon in Paris

Oh what a great story this one was. Two stories of a present and past couple spending their honeymoon in Paris and adjusting to marriage. Both sweet stories.

Last year's coat

An heartfelt story of making do.

Thirteen days with John C

Not one of my favourite stories on here but still good.

Margot

I loved the quick story. Funny and uplifting.

The Christmas list

I wish I had done the same to my ex husband. Loved it.

This collection of short stories was a refreshing read for me. of the 11 stories in this collection, I found the main story the most engaging- this is probably due to it's length and subject matter. I loved that the female character took herself outside her small world and experienced life and living and what true love actually is about.
The other stories were too short for me, although the story regarding the husband and wife and finding their relationship again was very touching and likeable and I easily could have read more about them.
I like being involved in the characters lives which is hard to do in only a few chapters, although there were some lovely life lessons told.
I would definitely recommend this collection to other Moyes lovers.

I actively avoid reading short stories, they are not enough for me and I find them a bit irritating however with this book my mind was changed somewhat as I really enjoyed it. Of course I would have loved some of the stories to be longer as I was enjoying them so much but it didnt take away from my enjoyment. Would definitely recommend.

There is just something so magical about this book and the fact that you could finish a story in one sitting made it even more enjoyable.

4☆ Great collection of short stories

This is my first book by Jojo it was a fun read with some great stories.

Each short story is very different.
However they feature romance, some humour, breakups, secret love affairs, a little mystery and lots of different emotions.

They give a portrayal of life and the problems women face within marriage and relationships. Not every story is written with a happy ending.

Paris for one is the main story and it literally is what it says.... Nell embarks on a trip with her boyfriend... only he doesn't turn up...leaving poor Nell alone.... She shows so much strength when she decides to go to Paris alone, who knows what exciting encounters Paris has to offer!

There are 8 other short stories included is this delightful collection.
Some very good, others are just ok.
But that's ok as not all stories are to everyone's taste.
For this reason I chose not to list the ones I particularly liked as I feel it's only fair you read them with a fresh look.

Overall a delightful and different collection.

Brilliant set of short stories that will lift even the darkest mood .

I'm really finding this book hard to rate because I found the first story (the novella by Jojo Moyes) charming and funny and an easy read and if I was only rating that story I'd have given it three stars.

However as a complete set of stories I can only give it two stars because I just didn't really enjoy the others. I just found them, for lack of a better word, a bit boring.

This was however a quick and easy read.

Love Jo Jo Moyes books and this one is no exception. Easy reading, perfect summer beach book.

A beautiful collection of keenly observed stories with a range of topics but Paris features in a couple. Jojo Moyes appeals to all readers with her well crafted stories bringing to life stories that will resonance with all women, whether they make you laugh or cry. As someone who is not a fan of short stories I am completely conveyed to these "gems". What a good read for a summer's day or even in the depths of winter. Definitely a winner!

This is a nice little pick up and put down book with stories that have previously been published in magazines. It was a lighthearted entertaining read and I enjoyed it.

Sensational writing

This collection of stories ended on the same high with which it began. No story fell short of its mark, within a matter of seconds Jojo Moyes could leave you feeling the same as her characters. The first and the last stories were my favourites- the first being 'Paris For One' and the last being 'The Christmas List.'

The collection of stories are suited for all: there is a mix between the more emotional, the depressing kind and then the ones included more for comic effect. A good balance, really plays with you emotions. Not to suggest any story made me cry, just that there was emotion in the writing. This is the first I've read of Jojo Moyes work, (I have yet to read 'Me before you'.)

These books cover a lot: love, feeling lost in the world, misunderstood, lonely or feelings of having your youthful dreams stolen away, reminiscing on the 'could have beens', the 'should have beens', all that has become lost and forgotten. Some of the others, the ones more on the 'comedy' side of romantic comedy, were less serious but written equally well.

I received this book through NetGalley.

I really like JoJo Moyes as an author, and I really like a short story so I thought the two would go well together! I liked most of this book- there are two longer short stories if that makes sense, and I only liked one of them. I guess with a book of short stories, there's always the risk you won't like them all - the world would be boring if we all liked the same thing!
A couple of quite witty stories though, and I'd still recommend it to friends!

I don’t remember when the last time I read a collection of short stories, but I had to try this one. I have to tell you, it was quite entertaining and attractive. In the book I received, there were eleven short stories, in another publications there might be only nine. I will try my best to share a short description of them.

Paris for One: When reliable Nell is tricked by her boyfriend, and ends up in Paris by herself she is shocked at the beginning. Strange place with no language knowledge makes her stressed at the beginning, but she finds herself, new love and new adventures during this weekend stay in Paris.

Between the Tweets: When a person named Becca, accuses a known person of cheating on his wife, on twitter, Frank is hired to find out who Becca is. But he is really surprised when he finds out who this girl is, and it brings even bigger twist in the story.

Love in the Afternoon: When the couple, who is exhausted from daily family life, decide to spend a weekend for two in the hotel, they notice, that they actually forgot how to be alone. So they need to find it again.

A Bird in the Hand: When Beth and her husband go to a friend’s party, she suddenly meets a man with whom she had an affair. There has been years since they seen each other, but they find out why they fell apart in the first place. Now, Beth has another difficult decision to make.

Crocodile Shoes: When Sam’s gym bag gets mixed up with a rich lady’s one, all she finds in it is a pair of crocodile leather shoes. She doesn’t have any option but to wear them, and it turns her ordinary life around.

Holdups: The Jewellery shop where Alice was working is being robbed by burglars. If there were three according to the owner, why there were only two according to Alice? Mini detective story with unexpected twist.
Honeymoon in Paris: This story is one of my favourites in this book. There are two stories which are happening in Paris. One happens in 2012 and another one in 1912. Latest story is about a couple on honeymoon, where the groom chooses work over his Mrs. The second story is about a newlywed couple, where wife’s mind gets poisoned by an evil woman. These two stories cross each other and shows, that true love always wins.

Last Year's Coat: Evie desperately needs a new coat, but the one she likes cost fortune, and their family can’t afford it. All you need to do is really wish for something, and in some way it will reach you.

Thirteen Days with John C.: One day Miranda finds a phone. Suddenly she starts getting texts from John. She gets very intrigued, even though she is married; she still decides to meet him. The meeting goes not the way she expected it to go, so in the end she has to take some decisions.

Margot: When Em gets stranded in the airport due to delayed flight, she meets this old lady Margot. They spend some quality time together at the airport, and after that go different ways. Only after a while, Em figures out why Margot lives her life to the fullest.

The Christmas List: While running around London for that perfect Christmas dinner with the in law’s, Chrissie ends up in a black taxi. While talking with the driver, she realises, that pleasing needy in law’s, who doesn’t like her, is not what she wants to do this season. And she takes an impulsive decision instead, which might change her life.

All the stories in this book are really different, but at the same time similar. Some of them are about love, some of them about family, others about making those hard decisions about who you really are. Most of the stories have an interesting twist at the end, or as I call it “the right thing to do” action. Even if the situation is not the best one, there is still that action to take to make it right for everybody. I tend to believe, that author has great love for Paris, as some of the plots are set in the city of lights. My most favourite were “Paris for one” and “Honeymoon in Paris”, they were the longest ones and for me, the most interesting ones. I really enjoyed the topics author was discussing in this book, she found those little day to day problems, and showed possible solutions to them. I enjoyed this book, and if you looking for something light and entertaining but with great meaning to read, give it a try.

I'm not usually a fan of short stories but this collection has totally changed my mind all great sorties especially the first one. A great read which I will recommend to everyone

I was disappointed by this collection which, in the second half, felt like a badly cobbled together collection of not-very-good short stories. The initial novella, Paris for One, was good and would have been a good 3 stars for me, but then there are a lot of other stories that I just felt didn't hit the mark well enough. Occasionally there would be one that was a little better (the one with the shoes...) but otherwise there was a lot of adultery, and what felt like sloppy writing. It was disappointing as I have enjoyed other stories by Jojo Moyes, and can only feel that this was a hurriedly put together bunch of woman's weekly short stories. I'd much prefer to just have the novella as a standalone, or even for that to have been stretched out into a full novel.

A delightful way of passing an Easter weekend. Full of laughter and thought provoking sentences . Short enough to pick up and read to while away a passing moment.

Wonderfully romantic, funny, touching and surprising short stories. Paris For One is a more substantial story followed by a number of shorter ones.
