I usually love James Patterson but this did not seem like a typical James Patterson book to me. It was ok, not his usual page turner.

Engaging, but not Patterson’s Best
James Patterson has a reputation for fast paced, intriguing mysteries, that hold the read on the edge of their seat. This book is a letdown.
The plot rolls along, like travelling down the winding Scottish lanes, but fails to develop the tension that I was waiting for. Detective Standon is asked to consider the mysterious disappearance of playboy Paul White.
The characters lacked depth and life, which, along with the lack of pace in the storyline, gave the book a formula approach to writing.

This was just an ok story Nothing special and all felt a bit rushed. Could have been expanded on which would have made for a better read and a higher star rating.
A short easy to read story. When Paul White goes missing his sister Diana asks Police officer Bruce Standen to look for him. A fast paced story about greed, drugs and murder. I thought this story could have been longer. I enjoyed this book but would have liked a bit more of a story.
Paul White, a rich womanizing bachelor with no job who lives off his inherited fortune, has disappeared from the isolated Scottish Island where he lives when his yacht is discovered drifting in the Atlantic Ocean. His sister, Diana believes it was foul play and that Paul did not fall overboard like suspected. In her relentless pursuit to find the truth, she finally convinces a reluctant police detective, Bruce Standon, to investigate further and uncover the truth behind her brother's disappearance.
This book was really hard for me to get into so I'm glad it was a short read. The plot was mediocre and the characters lacked depth and believability. Of the few James Pattison novels I've read, I have enjoyed, but this one just fell short and couldn't hold my attention. I rate this book 2.5 out of 5 stars.
