This is the first book I have read in the series of apparently 7 novels. I enjoyed the book, but I think it would have been better if I had read the earlier novels first.
Darby McCormick attempts to meet FBI Agent Jackson Cooper to help apprehend a serial killer who is stalking one of his only survivors. When Darby arrives in Montana to meet Jackson, he has disappeared, and she is left alone to become a potential victim of the killer.
I would like to read the other novels in this series, but my library doesn't have any of them. I'm not sure if I would pay to purchase them all.
Terrifying psychological thriller. This well written novel takes you places you never want to be. The FBI has been searching for this serial killer for decades without success. One of the only survivors dedicates her life to tracking down the monster that destroyed her life. She sends evidence gathered to the FBI and the ensuing drama is fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat for the next several hours. Loved the no nonsense, fiercely determined Darby McCormick and her FBI buddy Cooper. My first book in this series, I have many more suspense filled hours coming my way!
This is the first Chris Mooney book I have read but it won't be the last
Very fast paced book that I managed to read in a few days despite having to work!
I really liked the main characters, not too much description and plenty of twists and turns.
Would recommend to anyone who likes fast paced thrillers
The end seemed a little rushed, but can't wait for the next book
Thanks to net galley for allowing me to read this book.
This book was my introduction to the Darby McCormack series and initially I found it difficult to follow but it didn't take long before everything I got into the story. I thought the book was exciting, fast moving and most importantly the outcome wasn't easy to guess. In places it was perhaps a bit far fetched but I enjoyed it and will read more books by Chris Mooney.
This book follows Darber McCormick , a bad ass serial killer huntress. She is dedicated to her job and she is really good at. She receives a call from FBI Agent Jackson Cooper. He is on his way to Montana to meet a woman who is the only survivor of a serial killer that has been killing across the country for years and needs Darbers expertise.
Thank you Netgalley for the preview of Every Pretty Thing. This is my first read in this series, and I think that it can stqnd alone, but there is the back story that I found missing.
Darby McCormick hunts serial killers and she has killed alot of them. Darby gets a lead from an FBI Agent that a serial killer may be in Montana. This killer has made his mark across the US but when Darby tries to contact her friend and FBI agent, Jackson Cooper, he has disappeared.
Darby McCormick is a strong female character - she is tough, but is committed to stopping serial killers - that's her vocation.
This is fast paced and for me a quick read. Overall 3.5 rating.
Oh wow I am stunned at how good this book is. Very creepy. Ultra shocking.
I was on the edge of my seat as the story raced to it's conclusion.
A must read in my view.
Pretty good read. Held my attention for the most part. I don't know what happened with that ending. It seemed like it was rushed and out of step with the rest of the book. I may read other books by this author in the future.
I would like to thank Penguin UK, Netgalley and Chris Mooney for the opportunity to read an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review.
Every Pretty Thing is the seventh novel in the Darby McCormick series. If you have read any of the others, then you know what to expect. It's intense and full of thrilling drama that I've come to love in this series. It grabs you by the collar and takes you along for a crazy ride. It would work as a standalone, but you may miss some of the history and background of the series..
This book moves at a cracking pace. I struggled a little identifying with the main character Darby, I think partly because I haven't read the rest of the series. Overall a great read if slightly unrealistic in spots. I will read more of this series and this author, which for me says it all. The style is quite like Lee Child / Alex Kava.
The seventh book in a series about Darby McCormick, serial killer hunter. I hadn't read any of the previous books which made certain aspects of the plot pretty difficult to understand as the back-stories of the characters and their relationships are complex and were not outlined here. Having said that, the plot was a typical 'edge of the seat thriller' which hurtles along and manages to be scary, gripping and yet incredibly easy to read. OK, it's formulaic but is passes a few hours.
This is another heart stopping thriller in the Darby McCormick series. I stayed up way too late reading this book but I couldn’t put it down. What a fantastic read. I loved it.
Chris Mooney does it again, This is exactly what fans will be expecting. Edge of your seat, whodunnit suspense. I could not put this down, the ending was a little far fetched, but here, It's great escapism.
Fantastic book in the, latest Darby series. Full of twists and turns.
Darby once again finds herself tangled up in a web of lies deceit and corruption.
Cooper is as usual in the mix. She's tracking an age old serial killer with people who she didn't play well with.
Gripping story wrote with the usual flair.
Highly recommended read.
I haven't previously read any books by this author, but I will definitely be going back and doing so. I found myself actually gawping at my kindle when confronted with some of the major plot twists. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in crime fiction, or anyone at all looking for a good read. I usually read books in around five sittings but I found myself finishing this in two, even though I didn't plan on it! I recommend you read this during the evening, because if not you will not be able to keep your mind off it all day!
Another great book in the series. A little too far fetched for me in a couple of places but would definitely recommend it as a good read.
This is a fast paced thriller featuring Darby McCormick who tracks serial killers. I realised after reading the first few chapters that this was part of a series and I had not read the earlier books. However this did not matter and in fact I enjoyed this book so much that I am now keen to read the earlier novels. In fact with a holiday appproaching I intend to download the first book to take with me.
Darby is summoned to a remote location in Montana by her friend Cooper who is investigating a case for the FBI. He tells Darby nothing about who or what he is searching for and by the time Darby arrives he has disappeared and she can find no trace of him.
Alone in a strange town, Darby tries to find her friend and gradually manages to piece together Cooper's investigation. However someone is watching her and she is really not safe.. Who can she trust to help her?
The author builds up the tension and there are a number of startling revelations along the way. This is the sort if book to enjoy on a long flight as I guarantee you will not be able to put it down. It will appeal to fans of Lee Child and Karin Slaughter or anyone who enjoys an exciting mystery with a fast moving plot.
I loved the fact that the main character is female and that she can do anything that male heroes can do. She is definitely a kickass heroine in every sense of the word! As well as being a woman of action she is also portrayed as intelligent having a doctorate in criminology.
The ending was a real cliffhanger and left me avidly awaiting the next book in the series. Luckily there are six previous books for me to catch up on first so I will have plenty of Darby's escapades to keep me busy.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Every pretty thing by Chris Mooney is a mystery and thriller read.
Serial killer hunter Darby McCormick finds herself in Montana, looking for a friend. Little does she realise that a murderer is waiting for her......
Good read with good characters. I liked Darby. She was my favourite character. Found it a little slow then bam can't put it down. Had to find out who it was. 4*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.
As a new time reader of this author, I think that the book was amazing.
The characters were very real and the story was intense.
The story captured my attention from the beginning and I could nit put it down.
I found myself lost in this world of brutal crimes, friendship and determination.
I would definitely recommend this book to others.
It ended on a cliffhanger and I will be anxiously awaiting the next book.
