Lots of twists and turns. Kept me interested right until the end. Would read more by the same author.

I love this author and recently read her recent book 'The Sisters' which was a twisty, fast paced page turner.
I read 'The Girlfriend' a whole back and couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the concept and this author has a distinctive writing style that keeps me captivated throughout.

A brilliant read full of twists and turns that I didn’t want to put down until the final sentence. I will certainly be reading more from this author.

Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.

A brilliant read that kept me hooked and wondering what on earth would happen next. I thought the characters were well developed and the writing was strong.
4 stars.

A man's girlfriend is at the mercy of his over-protective mother, or is the girlfriend equally culpable? Reasonable thriller but it just didn't do it for me.

Thanks to NetGalley, Michelle Frances & the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Girlfriend really annoyed and frustrated me. I thought the book had promise but was let disappointed.
Laura takes an instant dislike to her sons new girlfriend Cherry and immediately suspects everything she says, does and is. And it turns out she is right. Cherry is pretending to be someone she’s not. Because she doesn’t want the council estate life. She wants better for herself. And I really don’t think Laura should’ve faulted her for that. These days, everyone online is pretending to be someone they’re not. Everyone wants better for themselves and I think it’s more common than not to elaborate a few little lies or make a few omissions about your life if you’re embarrassed by it.
Laura’s actions were far worse than Cherry’s. Stalking, lying. She has an unhealthy obsession with her son in the first place before the accident even happens. For 99% of this book, I felt like it should’ve been called The Mother - as in reality, Laura is the one who should be ashamed of herself.
But then all of a sudden, it’s like the writer realised she’d painted Cherry as the one with the secrets and turned her into something completely different out of nowhere. There was no development of this character, it was just an instant change to throw some psychological thriller type plot in.
I was glad to finish this book purely just to get it over and done with. Laura and Cherry are both unlikeable and Laura in particular ruined my enjoyment of this book.
Not a fan of The Gifriend unfortunately!

This book has sat on my Kindle for over 6 months and I am yet to read it. Whilst I was originally really engaged by the blurb, it's yet to make it to the top of my TBR pile and it no longer really appeals to me. I'm really sorry and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to read and review this book though.

I really didnt like or care for any of the characters in this book especially the mother. I skimmed through to the end but I just didnt enjoy it.

Really enjoyed this crime thriller. Great cast of characters and a gripping and entertaining plot with enough twists and surprises to keep this reader guessing. I Couldn't put it down.

What spurred me on to bump this to the top of my reading list was the fact it was our bestselling book at work. One of the best-written psychological thrillers I've read in a while! Have recommended to heaps of customers. Look forward to more by this author.

Honestly? Not my cup of tea. I mean it wasn't bad but it just wasn't great.. I don't know if it's because it purely wasn't my kind of thing or if quite a few people share my opinion.
However, I just didn't connect with the characters. Laura was too easily manipulated and I felt that the moves she made could have been more calculated and she could have done a bit more. Candy I found to be a little more clever about it all. She knew what she wanted and she wasn't afraid to go after it.
Overall this wasn't a bad read and had some twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I just found myself not really bothered if I picked it up or not to continue the story and find out what happened.

This is Michelle's first book and unfortunately for most of it, I found it boring and just wanted the author to get on with it. I did like the ending as I didn't expect it but that was it's only saving grace. I liked Daniel and felt sorry for him throughout the book, but didn't like either of the female characters they were as bad as each other.
Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

First of all i would like to thank netgalIery for giving me the opportunity to review this book.
I was looking forward to reading this book especially because it is a debut novel.
The storyline was brilliant the writing flowed well you didn't know what was going to happen from one page to the next needed to keep reading to find out whas going to happen next.
I liked the characters I could picture what the characters were like by the description of them.
A brilliant debut novel

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this brilliant and entertaining read!
The book was action filled, and full of suspense. It also made me wonder what I would do the day my child comes home with his first girlfriend....... Very well written and had me gripped from beginning to end. Recommended.

I loved this book so much - I find myself thinking about it long after first reading it. I enjoyed the perspective of Daniel's mother a lot and although I didn't like any of the characters (except for Daniel, who was too sickly good to be true), I was desperate to know how it'd end. I read this in one sitting and found myself exhausted the next morning. I was immersed in this book! It was fast-paced and exciting.
I'm almost hesitant to give any details away because this book is best going into with no preconceived ideas.

I loved this book. It kept me wanting to read on even though I didn't have the time. I did think the ending was a bit abrupt after the in depth involvement of the main characters. However, I would recommend it.

Will shortly be on my blog, with an extended review and discussion.

Well this was a fabulous gripping and enthralling story from start to finish. I was drawn in to the story pretty quickly and started to get to know each of the main characters quite well as the story progresses.
As i was reading the story, i had no idea as to how it would all end or what would happen to each of the characters throughout the story, so I did spend majority of the book in silent anticipation as to what could happen next.
I thought the story plot was well written and thought out, you definitely get a feel for all of the characters and my emotions for one or two of them did change throughout.
I can't wait to see what this author's next book will be like. Definitely looking forward to it.
