I expected a lot more to be fair especially from the earlier reviews id seen.
Not a bad book at all one that in all fairness does do what it says it will but I found it quite long at the beginning which for me did take away from the overall pace and quality of the read.

Would definitely work better as a scripted TV Drama for me I think.

A chilling tale for mothers with sons. Very good thriller, the tension builds nicely. All the characters are 3 dimensional, most of them are a mixture of good and bad. Loved the descriptions of the South of Frace, I could picture it vividly. The mother, Laura, is especially well drawn, I could feel her anguish and fear. A good read.

A cracking psychological thriller and I loved it! Laura lives an idyllic lifestyle and money is no object. Her and her husband don't have a happy marriage but they are both devoted to their son Daniel. When Daniel meets and falls in love with Cherry, the family's lives are turned upside down. Cherry only seems to be after Daniel's money and his parents lifestyle and will stop at nothing to get it.
This is book that will keep you reading and you know that it can only end in tragedy.
Brilliant debut novel.

This book is brilliantly written and shows how far someone will go for money. Laura's lie has catastrophic consequences far beyond anything she could have imagined. Cherry is extremely clever and manipulative. I was kept guessing the whole way through as to whether Cherry would end up marrying Daniel and manage to alienate Laura totally from their. lives. This is definitely a very good thriller and I would definitely recommend it. I will be looking out for more books by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. It had me gripped from the first page right to the last. I read this book very quickly as I could not wait to find out how it ended. Would highly recommend this psychological thriller

I did not like the character of Daniels girlfriend Cherry and was screaming out for Laura to say or do something to her. This was a well paced and gripping thriller, one which I would thoroughly recommend.

When an accident strikes Cherry is thrown out of the equation. When Cherry finds out the truth she sets out to ruin Laura's life.

I could not read this quick enough hoping that Laura would smack Cherry in the mouth and give her a taste of her own medicine. This was well paced and it is exactly as it says 'a Tense gripping thriller.' (less)

I changed several times in this book about who I felt sorry for and who I was rooting for. Poor Daniel in the middle never had a chance! I enjoyed the book and it was one of those where I wanted to get to the end to find out what had happened but didn't want it to finish as I was enjoying it!

An enjoyable and compelling read - I devoured it over a weekend. I found it a bit slow to start with and the events rather trivial so I began to worry that it wasn't going to live up to its promise but I'm glad I read on. The mutual suspicion between mother and girlfriend grows steadily and in the second half the tension really escalates. Lies are told, mistakes are made, accidents happen and revenge is planned, leading to a cat and mouse game culminating in a catastrophic event. Although one of the women is basically good and the other basically bad they each do some shocking things. I thought the characters were well developed and believable although their actions are quite extreme. I'd definitely look out for more books from this author

Really loved this , and read it almost in one sitting !!! It had me gripped from the start , the totally over the top mother wasn't particularly likeable and Cherry the new girlfriend even less so , I found myself gasping out loud with the lengths the pair went to to get one over on each other , with the son being the only endearing carachter really !! If this is a debut I can't wait to read what comes next . Thank you for the opportunity to read this .
