Henry Cabot Lodge's Alexander Hamilton is a captivating biography that explores the life and enduring legacy of one of America's founding fathers. Lodge delves into Hamilton's upbringing, education, military service, and political career. He also examines Hamilton's relationships with other founding fathers and his personal life, including his marriage and affair. Published in 1898, this book showcases Lodge's expertise and highlights Hamilton's contributions to the Federalist Papers and his support for a strong central government. While this book is a facsimile reprint, it remains culturally significant and is made available in affordable, high-quality form.

very informative and interesting book about a very interesting person.
But i also thought that the author sometimes got a bit lost in his clear admiration for Hamilton and instead of simply talking about his life and moments throughout, he got a bit overly enthusiastic and too "Hamilton positive" (meaning he lost his objectivity and just wanted to rave about Hamilton as if the man didn't have any faults or could make a wrong decision in his life) in my option.
But overall defiantly worth a try if you are interested in an easy to read but still informative book about Hamilton.

Book received from NetGalley.

While this was an interesting book and the first I have read about this Founding Father, I feel there are better and newer biographies out there that would be a better read. The best thing about this book is that it didn't fall into the flowery language of the era it was written in. It is likely to be heavily biased toward certain areas of his life while glossing over the not so good things he did. I think this was reprinted due to the hype over the hit musical and is mainly a way to cash in on it. Usually, I enjoy the reprints by this publisher, but I just wasn't that big of a fan of this one.

While I appreciate the book, the font on this is difficult to read. I keep having to blow it up. When I do that, the page is too big and I am just not able to really read this. Mr. Lodge wrote with such long paragraphs, that having to blow up the page, it is hard to focus. I am sorry. I will pick an an actual copy of the book and read it. I am really interested.

A really good book on the life and work of Alexander Hamilton. Although the book is actually over 100 years old, it is still relevant today and a good resource on the man who set many rules and standards of our government and financial institutions. Hamilton is known mostly for his infamous duel with Aaron Burr, but his work meant so much more than that. He was in the military and worked with George Washington. He worked in Congress, then with the Constitution Congress - drawing up our Constitution. He then, along with 2 others, wrote the Federalist Papers, which defended the Constitution. These are things that many people do not realize. This book is a great resource about Alexander Hamilton, who was a great American, through and through.

A most excellent account of one of our most highly regarded founding fathers. As a student of the founding fathers history I found this informative and helpful . The information on Hamilton's background is extensive. It shows a true patriot who wanted to contribute and did so by hard work and American ingenuity A well done accounting of Hamilton and his humble beginnings.
