A lovely story about finding family. What happened to Janie McGavie's boy? Well, this one tells a tale that probably wasn't that uncommon in the time period but it's got a good heart. Thanks for the ARC. Perfect for a lazy summer day.
I enjoyed this book and found it to be very sad in some places. but people make choices in life not always for the right reasons and there are consequences to that.. A great book.
A wonderfully well written story of one woman's life and how she's connected to many different people throughout the decades. Midge Brace-Percival is a young woman who falls for writer, Wald Ingman. He uses their affair as a story line in his best selling novel. The relationship sours and they part. Midge meets another man, marries and has a child. When Wald returns years later, she leaves her family to start a life with Wald. They go off to Paris but things are volatile as ever, especially when an unwanted pregnancy happens. Eventually, the relationship completely falls apart and Midge and Wald end their relationship for good. Decades later when Midge hears of Wald's death, she relives their story.
DNF, NO review. I simply couldn't continue reading this narrative of this relationship. It was depressing and boring.
This is a love story but certainly not your typical love story. The heroine is very realistic and, as we all do, make some poor decisions in her life which culminate in the end to be heartbreaking as well as completely shocking. If you like books with a twist you will love the uniqueness 0f this story.
