Unfortunately, I live in the United States and this particular book didn't help me with my 2016 tax return. However, it was interesting to see how it's done over in the United Kingdom. My first clue that I had the wrong book was when I noted that the first set of payments for the 2016-17 tax year was due January 31st and the tax year begins April 15th. Everyone knows that in the US the magic IRS date is April 15th and the fiscal year runs from January 1st to December 31st.
However, I recently read a Dick Francis book taking place in England where the son discovers his parents did not pay their taxes, missing the January 31st deadline. The crisis involved finding the money to pay the amount owed and all the interest and penalties (we also have those in the US) along with discovering the identity of the blackmailer who was usurping their income.
So for me - three stars for the info. If I was filing my returns overseas, I'm sure I would have rated it higher.
