This book helps to get the background information about the roots of the foreign policy opinions of pres. Trump, based on his earlier public positions and the international context he grew up in. Particularly relevant is his position on Iran, possibly an echo on the US hostages crisis in Iran and the further oil crisis. It is based on interviews and media coverage going back into the 1980s. A good read for anyone interesting to better understand current US politics and the possible evolutions during Trump presidency.
Although I found this interesting it was also very repetitive.
Hence only 3 stars.
This is a timely and scholarly analysis of what might be in Trump's plans for foreign relations given his past statements. Relying on selected extracts from his earlier utterances ( which are, incidentally, consistent across thirty years),the authors can be fairly certain about his intentions. They highlight the interesting connections made by Trump between foreign policy and domestic security. When they come to draw conclusions, they are fair and based on Trump's statements not their assumptions. This book is a valuable summary to have beside you as history unfolds. They might be right.
