“Revenge of the Seventh Carrier” eBook was published in 2017 (original paper edition was published in 1992) and was written by Peter Albano. Mr. Albano published 14 novels, this being the 7th in his “Seventh Carrier” series.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence and Mature Situations. The story is set in the late 90’s. The Japanese aircraft carrier Yonaga survived world War II trapped in Siberian ice. When it was finally freed, it completed its mission of attacking Perl Harbor. Arriving back in Tokyo, the aging crew finds that Japan had surrendered nearly 40 years earlier.

A anit-missile satellite system launched by the Chinese goes haywire shooting down all missiles and jet aircraft around the world. This leaves the Yonaga as the most powerful weapon on Earth with its complement of World War II aircraft. Soon they become entangled in a fight against terrorists supported by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Yonaga is all that can stand up to the terrorists.

US Navy Lieutenant Brent Ross is only one of several international volunteers aboard the Yonaga helping in the fight. He is also the primary character of the story. He meets a young woman who is a reporter and develops strong feelings towards her while the Yonaga is anchored in Tokyo. The Yonaga sets out on a secret mission to bomb a poison gas plant in Libya. The mission is dangerous and there is an increasing fear that the mission plan has leaked.

I enjoyed the near 9 hours I spent reading this 352 page Alternate History Thriller. I have read most of the books in the series and have enjoyed them all. While there are several book preceding this one in the series, it still reads well on its own. The cover art is OK. I give this novel a 4 out of 5.
