Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
Oh no, I think I have grown out of this genre of books; this is the second Cathy Kelly book I've tried to read recently, and the second one I didn't finish! It's not that it's not a good book; in the past I have read and loved Cathy Kelly books, they just don't seem to grab me like they used to. I'm afraid I didn't get beyond about 25% in before giving up.
I am giving this book 3 stars mainly because that would be what I would rate it so far, in the full knowledge that it might well have got better!
Just couldnt get along with this book. Didnt grip me in and too many characters.
It took me quite a while to get in to the story - I found all the different characters quite confusing and just couldn't get to grips with who was who. Even towards the end I was still trying to figure out who were sisters, who were cousins etc! Because I thought it was confusing and perhaps not clear enough I've given 3* instead of 4. Other than that I really enjoyed the story once it got going. I thought that all the different stories and how they linked together were well done and I loved a satisfying ending for everyone. I particularly liked the paragraphs with marriage lessons at the beginning of each chapter - they were a lovely addition and made it flow really well. Thank you for the chance to read and review!
great read and easy to follow story line. look forward to reading more from this author.
I found this book a little hard to get into at first because it jumps from one character to the next and back and forth in time so often and it wasn't until around half way through that I really got into it and started to care about the characters and their stories. Now I've finished it however, you can see why it was necessary to intertwine the stories and I'm so glad I finished it. It really is a wonderful story and one that had me crying throughout the last few chapters.
Bess Brannigan has recently become step mother to a family including Jojo, Bess's new step daughter whom is struggling to adapt into this new family. Bess just wants to get along with them all but she also craves her own child too despite having her daughter Amy from her first marriage. She is also stepmum to Paul whom has a family in another country.
Meanwhile there is also the cousins, Cari, Maggie and Trina.
Ceri is a fierce careers woman in editing and could probably intimidate a lion the attitude she has and air about her!
However her ex fiancé Barney is on the the wedding list and she obviously can't forget the fact that he abandoned her at the alter on what should've been the happiest day of their lives!
The book has many running themes such as the conception, lesbian, relationships, friendships and trust issues which I'm sure we can all individually relate to.
Hidden secrets, fights and trust gone awry with twists and turns ahead some predictable possibly but not overly obvious it's sure to keep you reading till the end!
