I had high hopes for this book, which is part diary, part memoir, as I'd read some glowing reviews from readers whose opinions I trust. Sadly, I was a little disappointed, I think mostly because I found it hard to warm to Julavits. Her writing is disarmingly honest, which is one of the books strengths - some of the entries are hilarious, others made me cringe, and many of them are relatable. However while it's interesting to essentially be in someone's head during both big and small moments of their life, it's also uncomfortable at times, and I just didn't like Julavits enough to completely enjoy The Folded Clock.
