There are a lot of good parts in this book but they did not all hold together for me. The book started out very slow for me as we follow Mikky around London while she plans on painting a forgery to substitute for a real Vemeer hanging next door in an old lady's living room. She is so focused on her goal that she ignores all those around her. There is a suspicious death but the author never resolves whether it was murder or not. Her roommate is commissioned to paint a portrait of the opera dive Josephine. Josephine brings a whole new set of problems for Mikky. Some which are not resolved or explained. Karl, the investigative reporter is sure Josephine is hiding something. I had a hard time figuring out what type of book I was reading. There were many plot lines that were never resolved and I was disappointed in the ending. On the plus side the book did hold my interest enough that I did finish it. The author does do a good job with art research and the locations. If the author had trimmed the story and characters a little it would have been a suspenseful story.
