A nice short read, all animal lovers should enjoy a great story.

When Maia meets Bracken, a fox with indigo eyes, she is amazed at how beautiful and unusual it is. Then she realizes that she can hear the fox speaking to her! Maia and her friends are Star Friends – girls who can use magic to keep the world in harmony.
Maia’s older sister has started acting strangely and the Star Animals sense dark magic at work. Can the girls use their newfound Star Magic to help them put a stop to it?
Perfect for fans of My Secret Unicorn and The Rescue Princesses, and for Rainbow Magic readers looking to move on to a more challenging adventure.
This was a lovely read with good characters. I loved the story and the pictures. 5*. Netgalley and little tiger group.
I read this to my children and they both were interested in it. My daughter is 7 and my son is 8 1/2. It is filled with animals, magic and adventure which kept everyone's interest. We look forward to more in this series. We have also started to look for other books by her as well.
This is a first book in the series that will tell more adventures of Maia and her friends.
First of all I should mention the beautiful drawings that comes in the story once in a while, same as the cover of the book they are unique and lovely.
The story is about how Mia and her friends from school finds their forest animals-star friends and thus gain, girls already have their magical powers within them - because they believe in magic. Mia is going through a difficult time at school as she feels bothered by her previous friend Iowie and these days Maia gets annoyed by her every other day. Although from an adults perspective the attitude seems friendly, Maia's mum is trying to explain this to Maia, but it causes failure. With magic abilities and this magic is a good one all friends want to help their star friends to destroy the bad magic - the dark one, which only seeks how to do harm and destroy people's behavior.
All the girls face adventurous event where they must cooperate in team and me as an adult reader the book did surprise and I found it interesting to read what's going to happen next.
The book covers topics - relationship between family members and friendship matters, finding inner power of good to fight the bad. Nice.
This book was so cute! I read it to my niece and she adored it as well!
This is a cute series with such a good message at the heart of it. The Star Friends fight of bad magic and create a better world. In the case of this book, it's a mirror which puts feelings of jealousy and inadequacy into the mind of Maia's older sister.
The animals are cute and the girls are diverse. Their magic is interesting as it takes on a different form for each other the girls. Whether it's healing, athletic skill or the ability to see into the future, each girl gets a power suitable for their personalities.
I think that this is a great book of empowerment and magic for any younger reader.
In a wonderfully new series by Linda Chapman, we meet typical nd animals who have to each connect with a star friend a special child whom believes in magic.
Maia is a ten/eleven year old child whom wants to help endangered animals and wants to take part in a bake sale to help raise money for the cause with her friends, Sita and Lottie.
There is also the case of her old friend Ionie feeling left out but she doesn't explicitly state she feels that way but with how she buries herself away in a book.
After Maia's grandma passed away, her mum needs to clear the house she used to live in and so Maia goes with her but can't stay in the house, instead she walks to the waterfall nearby where she meets the fox, Broken and after meeting properly next time Maia is there, she discovers her grandma's belief in magic is true as she can hear the fox speaking to her.
Sita makes friends with Willow, a deer and Lottie makes friends with Juniper, the squirrel.
Throughout the story, the mirror becomes a significant object to watch out for as well as moody teens being influenced by others!
Its a lovely idea Linda has had with making Ionie fit in to the book at the end completely and how it comforts Maia to think of her grandma and her friend knowing all about Star animals too.
When I was growing up I read all of Linda Chapman's books and proudly display them on my shelves here at home still. It really made me nostalgic and see how times have changed as in the book Maia is so young to have a phone at ten or eleven we used to have to wait for being a teenager at least to be able to beg for one! The use of social media references and teenagers like Maia's sister always using technology backs up how the past twelve years have changed for modern day children.
This book was kindly sent to me to review by the publishers.
