This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
"Don't Stop Me Now" by Colleen Coleman was a sweet, uplifting and empowering novel of finding your strength and restoring self esteem. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for the review copy. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book when I read it and I thought it was a nice light hearted read that came at the right time.
Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.
Poppy has graduated with the highest mark ever awarded at her University. She dreams of becoming Doctor Poppy and can't wait to begin working at the University. However, destiny has a different plan for Poppy. The Head of the Faculty despises her and her amazing thesis. So when she loses all she has aspired for and has to move home having never worked a day in her life, everything is bound to change.
This book is proof that when life throws you curveballs it's up to you how to take them! When one door closes almost always another door is waiting to open for you. It's a heartwarming read with friendship, lots of laughs and also serious topics covered in a lighthearted way.
This is clearly a talented author who makes the character's plight resonate with your own. Fantastic pace and developments made this a fun and easy read.
What a fab start to this book….the title honestly I sing it every time! (Bet you do now too)
I loved this book from the moment I started reading it. I loved following Poppy’s life and her picking herself up and taking ‘scary’ steps to get her life back together. Putting herself out there and getting back up when you are feeling down or have had bad news isn’t always easy. I love the way Poppy came back and got her life together. I could relate to her and was cheering her on throughout the whole story.
There was a point where I wasn’t sure if I knew what Poppy would do towards the end and I am glad that it made me unsure so as not to be a run of the mill predictable story.
It was a feel good, pick me up story that would never disappoint.
I highly recommend it if you want a light-hearted, feel good story.
"Poppy Bloom planned to finish her PhD and walk straight into a job at her university. But here she is, unemployed, unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend, and living back at her mum’s in her vampire-themed childhood bedroom. Not exactly what she was hoping for.
But life has a way of tripping you up when you least expect it, and Poppy soon has to decide where her priorities lie… With new friends, a new career and a new romance, can Poppy keep everyone happy, or is everything about to tumble down around her?"
A lovely light feelgood summer read that I took on holiday with me to read at the beach and was laughing out loud in places and nodding my head in recognition and sympathy in other places too. We all know what it's like life pulls the rug out from under you and you have to start all over again.
I loved Poppy and would love to to out for a drink with her and a laugh one evening in real life.
I really enjoyed this book and loved reading about Poppy’s journey. It’s a great book about new beginnings, friendship and love. It’s definitely a feel good read and I’d recommend it to any romance reader.
The story follows Poppy, who has been studying her whole life, at 29 she has PhD in psychology and is ready to start working at the university, but instead of getting the job, her life changes completely in a negative way. She didn't only lose the future job, but also a boyfriend and a friend. Poppy doesn't have any other choice than to go back at her parent's home. At first it looks like a really bad situation to be in, but slowly things are going upwards again. Poppy meets her old friend and her gorgeous twin brother, she joins a netball team and gets a job at a radio station.

Poppy Bloom is 29 years old and has been in school all of her life. She has a PhD in psychology and was hoping to get a fellowship at Banbridge University. And then it all comes crashing down.
She loses her boyfriend, Gregory, and has to move back home to her vampire themed childhood bedroom. She is unemployed and has to sign on the job centre.
Then things begin to look upwards, running into her old friend Leanne is the just the beginning. She ends up getting herself a job at a radio station , 105FM, joins a netball team, and then starts hanging out with Leanne’s handsome twin brother, Tom who she used to have a crush on back in the day.
This was a feel good, romantic comedy. I found this book very enjoyable. I am definitely looking forward to Colleen Coleman’s next book! I give this book 5 stars, and I highly recommend this book.
This was a cute fun read. I read it really fast be that was nice. My main problem with it is that the main character got on my nerves so bad. I couldn't take it.
I got an arc from the publisher Bookouture through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. However, since I was a very new member of Netgalley, I did not realize I should have downloaded this book right away before the archive date. Therefore, I had to buy the e-book in order to review this book.
There is one thing you definitely need to know before starting this book: this is not a romance!
Things I liked about Don't Stop Me Now:
- I liked that the focus of the book was on Poppy's career even though I at first mistakenly believed this was going to be a romance.
- I could recognize myself in Poppy in the ways she can be shy and has to overcome her own anxieties for example to talk to other people or take big steps. That really resonated with me.
- I liked the positive message in the book that failure is not the end and even better things can come along. I have failed many things in life but I always land back on my feet after a while.
- I love the female friendships in this book! I feel most books or movies portray women rather as rivals than as friends and this was certainly not the case in Don't Stop Me Now. I do wish her teammates were more fleshed and I would have enjoyed more focus on these relationships as well.
Things I didn't like:
- Poppy's relationship with Tom is not well developed. Out of a sudden, they're an established couple, which feels a lot like insta love. This annoyed me to no end. I love slow paced romances and this did not feel like a romance at all.
- Some decisions Poppy made were obviously not well thought through and quite hurtful to others. She's such a smart person but I feel those "bad" decisions were there only to further the plot.
- The plot is kind of predictable.
All in all, I did enjoy this book and gave it 3 stars. If you are looking for a fun, quick read, you should definitely pick this up! I would describe the genre as women's fiction because it's not a romance. Looking forward to read more of Colleen Coleman's books in the future!

This is my honest review and how I felt while reading this book.
Poppy Bloom is a doctoral valedictorian of psychology faculty of Banbridge University. I'm quite happy that the character is Psychology major. She's a career inspiration. Like her, I want to finish my PhD with honours too. However, I couldn't continue reading. I'm not thrilled or excited to turn the pages. Unlike when I read the synopsis I thought this book will be great. I find Poppy unreal. I mean, I know she sets her priority and expect to get a job in Banbridge but who doesn't make a Plan B or back up plans? I tried my best to find something interesting so that I could continue reading however the pace is very slow and Poppy became unlikable to me.
A charming book which kept me entertained throughout. I sympathised with Poppy right from the start when everything she has planned begins to go disastrously wrong firstly when she doesn't get her university place even though she has the best marks ever, then her boyfriend moves onto her best friend and she ends up back at home in her old bedroom.
I enjoyed Poppy's journey rebuilding her life and finding a successful job as an agony aunt in her local radio station.
A heart-warming easy read ideal for the summer sitting in the garden with a cool drink. Highly recommended.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
A slightly manic and chaotic, romantic novel. Our main character is Poppy. She is nearly 30 and has spent the last 10 years studying psychology at an exclusive college. Unexpectedly she is thrust into the real world and has to decide where her priorities lie.
Firstly, I would just like to thank Netgalley, Bookoutre and Colleen Coleman for allowing me receive a free copy of this book for an honest review in return.
Poppy Bloom thought she had it all, the boyfriend, the best friend and a career in Psychology at her University, she had done everything expected of her to reach her dream life. So why did it all go wrong? Not only does she not get the job offer, but her boyfriend leaves her for the best friend, and that's only the beginning to Poppy's all of a sudden life crisis.
Back at home living with her mum, Poppy now needs to navigate her life to one that she will be proud of, even if it means never stepping foot in to Banbridge University again. Poppy's life gradually blossoms in to a life that she wouldn't want to be without, she has her netball girls, her boyfriend, her family and a career in Psychology that has ended up being 1000x better than the one Branbridge were offering.
I just loved how much girl power was embraced in 'Don't Stop Me Now' and although Poppy did have a wonderful boyfriend, Colleen didn't turn this in to a book circling Poppy's love life. She focuses completely on Poppy's life and just highlights the love life which I think a lot more books need to do. It's so empowering to see Poppy have a partner, but still have the successful career along with it, instead of her basing her entire life on the man. Poppy is definitely an inspiration and a perfect example that you can balance your life out to get the man and the career, you don't have to choose one or the other.
Poppy grew up in front of our eyes and her journey to getting what she wants is so inspiring, it left me wanting to push myself to reach my dreams. The message behind the story is so important, opening your eyes to the world will gain you so many opportunities and a happier life for yourself. The life you think is meant for you, isn't always. Life always has a bigger and better plan for you than you can imagine and it's important that you don't ignore that. So many people are pressured to have the best job and everything set in place as soon as they leave high school, but that just isn't the case. Poppy was turning 30 years old when she reached her dreams and that is okay, it's okay to not have your life together when people expect. People lose their way in life trying to please others and settle for what they don't really belong in. There are so many paths we're all going to have to go down until we reach a sense of true happiness with our lives, whether it be when we're 20 or 30. Each path is different and difficult, but they'll always be worth it.
I would highly recommend this book, it was such a joy to read and I can't wait to read more of Coleen's books!
I totally love Don’t Stop Me Now and the positive message it’s trying to convey to its readers. It is truly inspiring and empowering. It helps that Poppy is such a lovable character that most people can relate to her. Poppy is not only smart and funny but she is also full of kindness, yet she knows how to fight for herself, too. The supporting characters are great, also. From Poppy’s mom and stepfather to the netball teammates and the radio people as well. They made the story more entertaining. Most chick lit books offer a lot of romance on their story. I like that this one has some romance to it but is not the main focus of the story, and yet it still works really well. It keeps me hooked from start to finish and made me laugh out loud a lot of times. Evidence that I enjoyed it. So much. It is a fun and light read that will leave a smile on your face after reading it. A great debut for Colleen Coleman, that’s for sure.
Poppy has a plan: finish up her PhD in psychology, and take her rightful place at the university. Working long and hard, she’s achieved the best scores ever for her major, even outdoing the Dean. And, with her boyfriend being supportive and in her corner, and everything starting to fall into place after all the hard work and dreams. But, all of Poppy’s plans went horribly wrong – with one disaster after another: the position at the university didn’t come to her – but to her boyfriend, who not so casually has moved on to a relationship with her best friend … no money, no prospects, no plan B.
Fortunately, Poppy has family – a room at her Mum’s house is just as she left it, vampire theme and all. She’s discouraged and depressed, and needing to find a dirction, a job and her mojo. She’s not unwilling to try and reframe her life, she’s just not sure where to start exactly when she runs into her childhood friend and finds herself with a whole social life, a new boyfriend, although no real job. But, when asked to listen for a daily puzzle clue she is captivated by the HORRIBLE Agony Aunt at the station, and can’t stop herself from phoning in. Soon she and “Aunt Hilary” are at one another’s throats: with Poppy’s educated and softer advice based on her degree and kind heart versus the rather cold and cruel Hilary.
When the radio station is inundated with calls for Poppy, she starts on a new adventure as the Agony Aunt, using her degree, research and a genuine desire to help those who have made the effort to call, as well as a genuine quietly offered therapy to Benny to overcome his own insecurities: Poppy is like a breath of fresh air providing her own brand of confidence and cheerleading to those who need it most. Surprising even herself when her ow confidence is growing and her self-doubts are evaporating even as she didn’t set out to make her own new path. From living a life on a strictly ordered path with all of the answers “figured out”, she’ learned that sometimes the doors unexplored and unopened lead to where you need to be after all. A wonderful story of hope, friendship, second chances and never giving up, even if you are only wandering in search of a good cup of coffee.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

THanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this.
Don't stop me now is a great little read. Super funny and makes you want to read on. So much more than a Rom Com so give it a try.
The main character Poppy, is just finishing a PHD with highest honours, when she expects to be given the job on the campus. However the staff have other plans, and she quickly finds herself unemployed. Shortly after her boyfriend dumps her and she is forced to move back home and start over. Will things ever change for her, or will she always be this miserable??? REad on................
This is a fun book to read for anyone who's in a rut (like me!). The main character spent most of her life studying, hoping to eventually change the world. Her plans didn't work out, and eventually it was her own world that changed. She has to figure out what to do with that rest of her life, with minimal real life experience to guide her. It's an excellent book, filled with colorful characters and real-life dilemmas. The romance was too forced for me, but overall I enjoyed this book.
