A great police detective mystery thriller concerning a missing/kidnapped girl called Geena.

However, when there is an attempted abduction of another girl, the Police feel they may have some clues and with the help of a psychologist attempt to find Geena and stop the criminal.

A really fast paced thriller and one with lots of twists and turns, and it had me hooked.

Ending in tears by Penny Kline.
Schoolgirl Geena Robson goes missing. Police are investing.
Sally Luckham is on her way home from school when she is nearly abducted.
Anna McColl is enlisted to help to see if Sally is telling the truth. Can she get Sally to open up to her and tell her what happened.
A very enjoyable read. Did not guess who it was either. Little bit slow in places. 4*. Netgalley and Endeavour press.

Ending In Tears

This is number five in the Anna McColl mystery series but reads fine as a standalone thriller.
Ending In Tears has the components of a great psychological thriller, I just felt like it was missing a little 'je ne sais quois' from the story.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, 3.5*!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. This was a book I wanted to like. The description hooked me. Unfortunately the story, characters and writing didn't. I had difficulty connecting and felt detached and on my own throughout. The story did not feel authentic and the characters were hard to grasp. Everyone seemed to talk in riddles.

Lost interest very quickly. Unbelievable account of how a psychologist would speak to a child to gather information. She was already speaking to the child in a room then a sentence of 'The cleaner had found Sally in the garden, opened the patio door to let her into the house, told her where to sit, then returned to me via the kitchen' popped up when the child seemed to be in the room they were talking in when she arrived at the house. I had no confidence in the ability of the psychologists character so could not read any further.

Although this book was a bit slow I still enjoyed reading! Anna is a great character. I would recommend reading had enough intrigue to keep me interested.

I am a psychologist and I enjoyed the character Anna and felt the book was accurate portrayal of this role to some extent. I also enjoyed the storyline and did have a wish to "know what happens next". However, I did find the writing style difficult to follow at times, as the sentence structure often left me feeling exhausted! Often too long sentences or ones that seemed to break off, and change mid wy through. perhaps it was meant to reflect how people speak but I did find I did not prefer it.
