I really enjoyed this book. It was imaginative in a way that a child's imagination works--not sweating the details. The pirate ship is too big? Suddenly the pond is deep enough. The logic isn't perfect, but it's a child's imagination at work. My biggest complaint is that it was too short. I wanted more to happen. It seemed more like the first chapter than a whole book. However, that said, it doesn't feel incomplete. I just want more.
The Pirate Ship by Gillian Cook is a beautifully written children's book. My boys and I absolutely enjoyed this fun, well-written book. We felt as if we were taking part in this imaginative story. Loved it!!!
The Pirate Ship is a cute story...reminding me of Alice In Wonderland at times. I think the adventure that Corin and Carly go on would be a wonderful experience for any young child who like pirates and epic adventures.
Great for 5-7 year olds who are already reading on their own or to share.
