Well the start of this book would certainly make me think twice about stopping to help someone in trouble. Should you? Shouldn’t you?
Here we are back with the superb Helen Grace. Book 7, I recently had a big catch up with this series, and I have to say it’s one of the best book series I’ve read. I have enjoyed each and every single book, and just when you think they can’t get any better, out pops another Jaw dropper.
If you have not caught up with this series yet, and have not read the last book yet, then please don’t continue with reading this review as it could spoil things for you.
We kick off with action and this action continues the whole way through this books, I certainly enjoyed reading it.
The start of the book sees Sonia, a probation office on her way to work, where she is flagged down by someone who looks to have been involved in an accident. Only to end up being killed.
Helen Grace is also on her way to work, riding her new bike, a Kawasaki Ninja, which she has bought after receiving a hefty compensation payout for wrongly being arrested and then sent to prison last year. She gave the rest of her compensation money to a local children’s charity – this just made me like Helen even more.
So as I was saying on her way to work Helen notices someone lying in the road and pulls to a stop to help the lady, it’s clear as soon as Helen see’s her, this hasn’t been just a road accident, the lady has been shot, but there is no sign of a car. The only one Helen saw is the one that nearly knocked her off her bike earlier up the road.
Shortly after this, it appears there is an incident at a pharmacists, could this be linked, is the death toll about to rise?
Can Helen and her team connect the dots and figure out who the killer or killers are and what their motive for killing is before it’s to late?
This book takes place over a 24 hour period. OH WHAT A DAY!
What a story. This for me has got to be one of M.J. Arlidge best books yet.
It’s gripping, fast, frenzied, breathtaking, thrilling it’s one hell of a read with a good few OMG moments, I was hooked from the beginning right up to the last page.
It’s exciting and scary at the same time, my god I need a week’s holiday after reading that.
Wow I felt I lived those action packed 24 hours with Helen Grace! When she stumbles across a body on a way to work what ensues then is a number of murders all linked and a game of cat and mouse with the murderer! It appears they are on a mission not stopping until they have achieved what they want. Helen and her team seem to always be a moment too late to catch them .
What I also enjoyed was seeing Helens vulnerable side and her self doubt, her relationship with Sanderson after the last book and even Emilia the reporter her nemesis we see in a different light. Read within 24 hours and then I could relax!
The 7th instalment in the DI Helen Grace series should seriously come with a safety harness, because it is one hell of a ride. Told over a period of 24 hours with short and gripping chapters, this really is one of those books that you think... "just one more chapter" and then you realise it's 2am in the morning and you've finished the book and now you have to wait patiently for the author to write another one. Fans of DI Helen Grace will not be disappointed. An extremely fast-paced, page turning thriller.
Once again M J Arlidge had me on the edge of my seat. Every moment I could spare was spent reading Love Me Not.
I read in an interview somewhere that M J Arlidge has plans for when to stop writing this series and I dread that day coming! In the meantime I will carry on enjoying the next adventure that Helen Grace has to offer.
Love Me Not has to be one of my most anticipated reads of 2017.
It was great to catch up with Helen again. She seems quite melancholy in this story. I think her time in prison has certainly given her food for thought and she seems to be struggling to make sense of it all. If you haven’t read the rest in the series yet (where have you been??) I think it certainly would benefit to have read the others first.
I have no idea how the author comes up with these gripping story lines but each book just has me wowed every time. I literally can not turn the pages quick enough to see what the out come is going to be. It felt slightly like the film Natural Born Killers to start with, with a couple going round killing random people. It certainly had me well and truly hooked from the start.
As much as Emilia, the ever annoying journalist, gets on my nerves, I actually really enjoyed reading about her in this one. It’s always great to have a mixture of characters with some that you love to hate.
Love Me Not is with out a doubt going to be a big hit with fans of the series. The author has yet again delivered a gripping, fast paced read that I for one devoured in one sitting. I hope the author takes it as a compliment but for me Helen is the UK version of James Patterson’s Alex Cross series, which is another series I love.
Another belter of a read!
Wow, where to start?! Read this book start to finish in a day, couldn't put it down.
Having read all of the author's books I am a huge fan of his writing style and ability to hook you in from the start.
After Eeny Meeny (which was the best by far) this is my next favourite. I love how Helen has developed and her human side shows increasingly in this book but stilly that balance with her darker and more tortured side.
Even Emilia (who I pray every book will be written out!) had a softer and improved part to play with less antagonism or malice.
Highly recommended and can't wait for the next book!
Having read all of the Helen Grace books and being disappointed with the last one this was a pleasant return from Arlidge.
With a breakneck pace and clever plot Grace is back where she belongs
Wow just wow! MJ Arlidge just gets better. After the trauma of her wrongful arrest and imprisonment, Helen Grace is back at work and in charge of her team again. Riding her beloved bike in the early morning, she sees a woman's body lying in the road. At first it looks like a tragic accident. But when she gets closer it's clear she's looking at a coldblooded killing. But why would anyone target a much loved wife and mother? Then across town, a shopkeeper is killed while a customers is left unharmed. A teacher is also gunned down but pupils are let go . But what lies behind the killer's choices? Who lives? Who dies? Who's next? The clock is ticking.
Helen and her team must solve this deadly puzzle by getting one step ahead of the killer to avoid more bloodshed. This is a very fast paced story. It was hard to put this book down - luckily I had time to devour it! Through out the well plotted story, we see Helen's relationships with her colleagues Charlie, who supported her when wrongly accused, and Joanne who sought to prove her guilt. Can she work with Joanne or will she still rely heavily on Charlie? Helen is a complex heroine and her relationships are equally difficult. This adds to the depth and interest of the novel. The reaction of her colleagues is important in solving the crime but with results that impact on everyone. The seventh outing for Helen and team is one of the best in the series. A definite recommendation from me!
Another fast paced, thrilling story filled about Helen Grace. This story is about a couple who embark on a killing spree, Helen has to stop a young girl not unlike herself or her sister. During this exciting book you see more of Helens vulnerable side.
I cannot wait for the next book.
FANTASTIC read this in one sitting. 5am and just finished couldn't put it down.
Helen is back again newly acquitted from her wrongful incarceration she is eager to be back in the saddle. This book is about Helen's journey acquiring trust from her former colleagues and for herself.
Great plot with the usual twists and turns.
Highly recommended read but beware you won't stop till the end.
