After I started reading "A wedding in Italy" I realised it is the second book in a series but although I also have to the first one on my Kindle, I continued reading the second book. I dind't have any trouble finding into the story.
The book seems to continue the story of Kate who moved to Italy and got together with Alessandro and is still sturggling to be accepted by his family.
The story was very entertaining and I found myself captured into the story very quickly and I was curious to follow Kate with her life in Italy. The book had a very light atmosphere and the setting it Italy was also very nice. For me it was a very nice feel-good-story.
Even though I started with the second book, I will read the first one to find out how Kate moved to Italy and how she met Alessandro.
I didn’t realise this book was the second book in a series, I did really enjoy it though and it was a lovely read! I will definitely pick up the first book and hopefully read some more books by Tilly Tennant in the future.
"A wedding in Italy" is the follow up to the lovely "Rome is where the heart is" and it's as charming as the first one in the series. It's a beautiful story about love, family and fitting in, with lots of humour and laugh out loud moments. The author really transports you into Italy. Tilly Tennant is fast becoming my go to author for feel good reads.
It’s the second book in the series, but it works as a standalone as well. Kate fell in love with Alessandro, when she went on a trip to Italy and now after a visit home she’s back to Italy to be with her boyfriend. Kate’s life in Italy isn’t easy-although she has a loving boybriend, his family is a lot to handle. On top of her dream to start with dressmaking business, she has to win Alessandro’s mother and sisters acceptance.
I loved being reuinted with Kate and Alessandro, I fell in love with their story in book one already. The writing style and characters are amazing, the story just pulls you in. Can’t wait to read more by Tilly Tennant.
I struggled with this book. Normally i pick up Tillys books and dont want to put them down. However i did prefer the 1st one to this one.
Thank you for allowing me to read and review this book. I am just not interested in this book anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Tilly Tennant became one of my favorite author this past year. I realized that every time I read one of her book, I really have a good time. I loved the first part the series and I couldn't wait to read the second part "a wedding in Italy" and I finally got to do it. The second part is even better than the first part! I really like the main character Kate, she is a very nice person and to which we can easily relate to. I really liked discovering a bit more all the sisters of her lover, Alessandro. And Alessandro... in my opinion he is the perfect boyfriend! I want one like him! ;-) I really recommend this book! it was a perfect read!
After Rome is where the heart is I was really looking forward to the follow up and I wasn't disappointed . As in the first book the way she writes about Italy almost spirits you away there , her descriptions are fantastic and I loved how Kate's life had progressed , her relationship with Allesandro stronger and how she starts to fit in with his very traditional family . If you enjoyed the first book this is a must read and would make for fantastic holiday reading .
I have jetted back to Italy, to Rome to see how Kate is getting on with the new life she has created for herself. Although this is the second novel, featuring the same characters it is perfectly acceptable for you to be able to read it as a standalone as there is enough background given for you to pick up the thread of the story.
Kate is still in Rome, still in love with Alessandro and still trying to find the perfect job and place to live.
This is no longer the Rome of holidays, carefree days and plenty of gelato - this is reality. This is dealing with landlords who suddenly forget to understand English, who do nothing about problems with Kate's little flat.
This is the reality of being in love with a man from a family with strong Italian values and beliefs and who are finding it difficult to accept Kate, an outsider into their lives, especially when she is English and divorced.
Added to Kate's problems are trying to understand why all the women who say they care about Alessandro, are trying to do their best to stop him being happy and of course Kate being happy.
With all this reality around her can Kate find love in Rome and can it really be with Alessandro?
This book, like the first is an enjoyable warm read both with the characters and of course the heat of the romance, made even more so by being in one of the most romantic cities in Europe. There is the added dimension of seeing a real Italian family with all their ups and downs, their tears and laughter along with their approach to everything being cooking wonderful food. You can feel the pounds piling on as you read this novel!
An ideal summer read or one for when you need warming up! Not only does it have romance but it has laughter too - what more could you want from a book?
Fabulous book! Great to hear about Kate and Alessandro again as I so wanted their story to continue! As usual Alessandro's loud family keeps us laughing throughout! Every page was a total delight to read. Well written and difficult to put down - loved it.
I gave this a 3.5 stars or 7/10. I've not read the first in the series, saying that though, this can be read quite easily as a standalone story.
Kate has fallen for Alessandro in a big way. She's made her mind up that she wants to live in Italy, but she's got such a lot to prove to his family that this isn't just a holiday romance. She's got to find herself a job to help make ends meet. She's found somewhere to live, but it's not ideal as the landlord isn't the easiest person to get on with and the language can be quite a barrier.
This is an ideal summer read, it's a romance with some comedy thrown in for good measure, as Kate does manage to get herself in some situations.
I enjoyed the story and felt that the characters were very well developed. I've never been to Italy, it's somewhere that I hope to visit. Tilly Tennant you brought Italy into my home for a few days while I escaped in your book. Thank you.
I really enjoyed this book, even though I felt like shaking some of the characters. It was obviously a romance but the humour in the book was great. I especially liked the landlord & his wife who delighted at getting one over her husband.. a good summer read.
Tilly Tennant writes wonderful escapist but very real novels. I might have read this during a rainy stretch (it was a great cheer up) but it would be perfect for the beach. Kate's and Alessandro have lots of troubles, what with his boisterous and sometimes difficult family and his interfering ex AND Kate has all the troubles of adjusting to a new country. They also have love. Tennant ha also used Rome as almost another character- she's captured the feeling. Thanks to NEtgalley for the ARC. This one is fun!
I was so happy to see that there was another book in this series.
This was such a lovely story and it was lovely to see what Kate and Alessandro were up to now and to see how Kate was coping with living in a foreign country. Kate is learning the language but is having quite a few problems fully communicating with others, especially her landlord!
A lovely follow up to the first story an easy light read that makes me feel very summery the perfect beach read!
This is a nice romance to read. Issues that we all think about followed by a happy end.
Tilly Tenant books are always a joy to read. For me; they are perfect escapism!
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookoutre, and Tilly Tennant for this ARC. I love the characters in this book. They seem real enough as my own family. who are italian and just as obsessive about their heritage. Kate is sweet but vulnerable and sometimes I want to get her to stand up for herself more. And that hot lover, Alessandro. OMG ! I loved the first book and was excited to be able to read the next in the series.
I just loved this book! I read Rome is Where the Heart is a few weeks ago and when I saw there was a sequel I knew I had to read it. I couldn't wait to find out more about Kate and Alessandro and to see how their relationship was progressing. I wont spoil it with anymore of the outline but just to say that I was not disappointed. Tilly Tennant really makes the reader feel that they are in Rome with the characters, her descriptions of Italian life are just perfect and I loved getting to know more about Alessandro's family. If you like a romantic, feel good, happy read you will not be disappointed, recommended for all, real feel good read.
Well, this one had me excited from the very beginning as it mentions a wedding. I knew of a wedding to take place but the plot wasn't exactly what I thought. Alessandro's sister was getting married to her true love, and then there was a 'black sheep of the family' that showed up - *whispers* "he was divorced!", and then there was the American who called Kate and mentioned Vegas. I can't say anymore.
What I can mention is that I really sympathised with Kate as she tried so hard to make a new life for herself in Rome. She searched for a new job, she worked hard, she ignored those who doubted her, she had troublesome meddling women in her life who in my opinion just needed to mind their own business! And then she had the sexy Italian policeman in and out of his uniform.. I'm not jealous. Honest.
Italian tradition means that getting married to a non catholic, non italian divorced woman is a HUGE no no! So Kate has to prove to Alessandro's mum that she is marriage material.
I adored this book with all my heart, both books in fact. However, I am going to be a bit picky here - I just wish the final chapter was stretched out and made into a third book because I really think it could have been. BUT I am hopeful still that we see another installment in this series because I loved the characters, I loved the setting, I loved the twists and turns in the plot, I love the important issues raised in the book, and I just miss them to be honest. I've had book-hangover since finishing this.
I am giving this gorgeous book 4/5 just because I wanted it to be stretched a bit further.
If Italy is a place your heart travels to, and you love romance, then this series of books is a MUST this year.
This is the second of Tilly Tennant's books in the "From Italy with Love" series that I've had the opportunity to review. I must say that this one has a much more engaging plot line and the characters are beginning to show a bit more depth. The main character, Kate, is now faced with finding a job in her adopted city (Rome) and struggles with apparent dislike from Maria, her boyfriend's sister. Several sub-plots included a health issue for Alessandro's mother, Alessandro's sister Lucetta's wedding, and a crisis at the realty office threatens Kate's job.
There are still times when I find myself glossing over the descriptives of feelings or conclusions that are already obvious to the reader. But, it was a much more enjoyable read than the first book. Will Kate finally marry Alessandro? You'll just have to read the book to find out!
