I have to admit that I enjoyed the second book much more than the first. I really loved the intrigue with friends and family members, and thoroughly enjoyed watching Kate's relationships develop with Alessandro's sisters and mother. The relationships felt authentic - some family members warmed to Kate immediately, whereas others took longer (or a lot longer!) to really welcome Kate. A lot of the reasons why some of them were...cold...are explained in this book, and I appreciated that background.
I thought the book had a nice, solid pace to it (the first, for me, felt a little uneven). The descriptions of Rome were great in this book (better than the last one, I thought). This time I could *really* feel the food and atmosphere and chaos that is Rome. Kate's adventures in real estate were fascinating - in so many ways! I was livid on Kate's behalf at how the one real estate transaction ended, and that's when I knew I was hooked on Kate.
I'm definitely hoping there will be another book in this series, and I look forward to following Kate's journey in Italy.
Aaahh, Rome! Kate moves there from London with high hopes of getting a great job and living happily ever after. But boyfriend Alessandro’s family and coworkers throw a wrench into Kate’s plan. Of course Kate rallies… but at what expense?
This book gave me a wonderful taste of Rome, from the quick bites to eat to walking the stone streets to Nonna’s cooking to coffee in the square. I lived in Rome for a little bit with Kate, felt her independence, her struggle to “make it” as a seamstress and real estate agent, and her frustration at not being accepted fully into Alessandro’s family.
Kate’s a cute character, realistic and relatable. Tennant could’ve written Alessandro a little deeper, though. He was sort of on the periphery, even more so than his ex girlfriend and his family. I love a good romance, but half the romance is the guy!
If you like all things Italian, pick this up – if only for the fast drives to the countryside, the pasta, and Kate’s attempts to ingratiate herself with Nonna!

It was so lovely to return to Rome to check in on how Kate and boyfriend Alessandro was getting on after the first book! This book has a great light-hearted and warm feel to it, maybe it's because it's set in Rome I'm not sure but I enjoyed it, and I think I actually enjoyed it more than the first one!
Kate, who is now living in Rome, is trying to settle into life there but is finding it hard. She's trying to find a full time job so she can pay her rent as well as trying to get her dressmaking business going. As well as Alessandro's interfering family, one close family friend member Orazia will do everything she can to make sure Kate leaves Italy for good. This story is full of twists and turns that will leave you not wanting to put the book down!
The book is lovely and is a really enjoyable and if anything it will certainly make you want to visit Rome! The plot and characters were much more interesting and believable in this second book of the series and I would definitely recommend it if you're already a fan of Tilly Tennant!
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for a chance to read this book in return of an honest review.
Well book 2 didn't disappoint! Started today and have finished within the day!! Love love love it! Really hope book 3 will be on the cards involving some of the other characters
great girly read and easy to follow story line. look forward to reading more from this author.
A sweet romance by Tilly Tennant. Her stories always bring a smile and several happy hours of reading. A Wedding in Italy is no exception and I guarantee you're in for a perfect summer read!
Such a wonderful story - as warm, heartfelt, and heartwarming as Tilly's other books. Tilly Tennant has easily become one of my favourite writers and I look forward to each new release! I absolutely adored this book, along with the first in the series, and I was sad to see it end, even though I closed it with a great big smile on my face!
I was given an ecopy of this book by Bookouture, Tilly Tennant's publishers in exchange for an honest review something I am more than happy to do.
A Wedding in Italy is the second book in this series and sees Kate returning to Rome to take a chance on love with Alessandro the dishy, Italian policeman whom we met in Rome is Where the Heart Is. A Wedding in Italy has all the dream like qualities we encountered in book one, good food, home, friends and family everything should be perfect.
Kate desperately loves Alessandro and dearly wants to make a new life in the city she fell in love with but things are not as easy or as simple as she'd like. Struggling for work, the language barrier, missing her sisters, Alessandro's tight knit family and their values plus another woman determined to send Kate running for the plane home to England so she can claim Alessandro for herself all throw up obstacles and cause doubts.
This story focuses very much on family. I loved reading about the different values and traditions within an Italian family in comparison to a British one. Italy is not far from England but the way of life seems more traditional and appears a bit old fashioned, add to that the language barrier too. Kate has left her family behind in England and misses them dearly, she's hoping to get the same closeness with Alessandro's family that she shares with her own but it doesn't happen instantly something which adds to her insecurities. She didn't anticipate being out of work for so long either and this is another thing that adds to her worries. Without an income she fears she may have to give up on her dreams and return home.
Tilly Tennant has created strong characters that demand respect - Respect, trust, honesty and loyalty are very strong values and form the very fabric of Italian family life — the Conti family like and love Kate but don't know her well enough to know she will be the right person for their son and brother Alessandro and initially close ranks to protect him. It was lovely how Tilly developed the relationship of Kate and Alessandro's family, giving her time to shine and grow, allowing their trust to build to such an extent that when the chips really were down for Kate they closed ranks to protect and support her.
I lost myself totally in this book and the Italian way of life was sold to me completely — so much so I have booked a touring holiday from Venice to Sicily for next summer. It is a book that inspires hope, living for today and taking a chance on life. It's good to dream but sometimes it's even better to live those dreams.
I highly recommend this book, but more importantly this author. Tilly Tennant is a temptress of the highest order — only she would have me looking at flights and surfing the internet for the nooks and crannies she describes so well. Please tell me the Gelato shop really exists?! I so want to live inside her books, they provide the perfect amount of escapism — so a huge thank you to her and her publisher Bookouture.
I was initially mostly attracted to the cover, and expected the book to be mostly fluff. I am happy to say I was wrong. There is romance and friendship and disappointment and a rebuilding of trust, all of which drawn by the talented hand of Tilly Tennant make this a really worthwhile and enjoyable read!
I somehow missed reading the first book in the series even though it's on my NetGalley list. I'm not sure how I managed to read this one out of sequence. Although I am now very keen to go back and read the first book this one reads well as a standalone as you are introduced to everyone and pick up on the romance between Kate and Alessandro- who sounds like a real dream, coping with an Italian mama and several sisters who aren't entirely sure that Kate is the one for him.
The love between the two characters shines through and they overcome several obstacles throughout the book.
Kate s trying to get a dressmaking business off the ground and has made 2 dresses for her landlords wife. We get to meet her and although there is a language barrier I loved the scenes with the two of them in.
Lucetta's wedding is being planned in this book- and it's a huge Italian family event. A true love match that requires precise detailing and planning.
It's such an engaging book, making you fall in love with the characters, even the feisty ones and there are some very touching moments aswell.
This book is the sequel to Rome is where the heart is and a great follow on. Kate is now living in Rome with Alessandro the love of her life but all is not plain sailing - it is not always easy living with a language that is not your own and a family with different cultures - especially when you are divorced and it is a very catholic family!
Being so far away from her own family is difficult and not helped by the fact that Alessandro's mother doesn't think she is good enough for her son......but she is not the only one not everyone wants Kate to be in Rome!
A lovely story from one of my favourite authors - it is great to be back with all the characters from the first book and definitely a great beach read
*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
I was very excited to go back to Italy and enjoy Kate's and Alessandro's story. I love their first story when they got to know each other and I really wanted to know hiw their lives are now.
Kate lives in Rome now, she gave up everything at home and is renting a little appartment. She is nit yet living with Alessandro, but they still spend a lot of time together. I enjoyed the scenes, where it was just the two of them the most, I think they are such a cute couple. Kate tries to improve her Italian, which is not always easy, especially with a landlord who pretends he doesn't hnderstand her English.mshe also has to find a job and there is Alessandro's family. She has won ove some of them, but Alessandro's mum and his sister Maria prove to be the hardest ones. They don't think she is here to stay and what about marriage?!
Alessandro's family is huge, which was fab to read about. I have Italian relatives too and visiting them is always gery interesting. There is also Alessandro's ex, who wants to break them apart.
An Italian wedding is also part of the story, which was a pleasure to read about. The writing really capturd the ambiance and the people around it.
This book has a lot of drama for sure, but it's all inclueded beautifully in the storyline, added with a lot of humour, passion and romance.
I really liked following Kate's journey in this book, she grew stronger and finally found her place in Italy.
Tilly Tennant's writing is heart warming, sweet, passionate, gentle and just amazing. I saw myslef there with the characters, she described the setting wonderfully and created this stunning Italian atmosphere full of love.
Kate has moved to Rome to be with Alessandro but life isn't quite as smooth as she might have hoped. She hasn't had any real customers for her dressmaking services except her landlord's wife, and he negotiated a hefty discount for those dresses. Alessandro's sister Maria and her best friend Orazia still haven't accepted that Alessandro has chosen Kate. No-one has plucked up the courage to tell Signora Conti that not only is Kate English and Church of England (which TBH she knows), but a divorcee to boot.
This book is very much about what happens after the holiday romance, when the necessities of finding a job and paying the bills kick in.
I have to say, I didn't like this as much as [book:Rome Is Where The Heart Is|33545905], maybe it's that the initial romance is of more interest to me than the aftermath. Also, I felt that I didn't learn much more about Rome than I did when I spent the weekend there a decade ago, the book mentioned the main tourist hotspots but didn't really take the reader any further, I didn't have that feeling "oh, I'd love to visit there if I go to Rome". Mainly I spent a lot of the book trying to work out how large Signora Conti's apartment was that she could accommodate all those people for lunch every day. And, considering how many people Signora Conti and Alessandro's sisters knew, why was it that only Kate's landlord's wife finds her new customers.
Overall, (and OMG am I tired of saying this) I liked it but I didn't love it.
5☆ Charming story of Family, Love and fitting in!
A Wedding in Italy is the second book in the series. I was not fortunate to read the first book. I don't feel this hindered my enjoyment as Tilly explains some background knowledge so you can easily pick things up.
Kate has followed her heart and moved to Italy to be with the gorgeous Alessandro.
She lives in a small apartment separate from him. As he's family believe in marriage first.
Kate's landlord is a funny character, she finds it Extremely difficult to fully communicate with him as her Italian is luke warm, as is he's English.
For example she makes he's wife 2 dresses and she is told he should pay more. He asks for 2 more but because of the understanding she ends up agreeing on the same price. Which made me laugh. Poor Kate.
Alessandro's family are a very close knit unit and he's Mother has other ideas.
She doesn't think Kate is good enough for him. She has strong Italian values and family is everything to her. Towards the end she does warm to Kate which is so nice.
It's Alessandro's sister Lucetta's wedding and everyone is helping, even Kate.
However things don't run so smoothly to start with as not everyone wants Kate there.
Maria, Alessandro sister & her best friend Orazia don't like her as Maria wants Orazia to marry Alessandro. They both feel Kate is not good enough and make their feelings known at every opportunity.
To make matters worse Alessandro and Orazia work together in the police force.
I feel so sorry for Kate she desperately tries to fit in as she loves Alessandro so much.
She is embarking on a whole new life, missing her family and England and starting a new business venture it really isn't easy for her. Luckily Alessandro is so supportive.
Two of he's sisters like Kate luckily, Lucetta and Abelie.
Kate's Italian is not very good so when Abelie decides to help promote Kate's dressmaker business by making her business cards it touched my heart.
I absolutely loved the Conti family. The sisters were great. Sisters squabbling with each other but supporting at the same time is exactly how sisters are!
So many laugh out loud moments.
The wedding was beautiful. I loved the huge wedding and the exciting guests.
Every character is well thought out and engaging.
I loved Kate and Alessandro. I loved their ever blossoming relationship. I admired Kate's strength and determination to fit in.
Alessandro always stuck up for Kate which was such an admiring quality especially when it was against he's feisty sisters lol.
Such a beautiful story, about fitting in, family, friendship and love. With lots of humour and witty remarks.
One thing I did love was Tilly's use of Italian. It was so nice to see it incorporated into the story. So the reader really was immersed into language and story. It was just like I was transported into Italy. Somewhere I have always wanted to go.
Overall a beautiful read. With loveable at times feisty characters, and a great storyline.
I would recommend this book to readers who love adventure, love, humour, family values and Italy. Chick Lit, Romance and women's fiction.
This is another gorgeous read by Tilly Tennant, which was just as I expected after loving the first in this series, Rome Is Where The Heart Is. If you haven't already read book 1 then I highly recommend that you do, closely followed by A Wedding In Italy, as the story follows on.
I warmed to Kate straight away and I have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with her again. She is a very real and likeable character who is much braver than I would ever be. I like the fact that her move to Italy hasn't been plain sailing as I think this makes it a much more realistic story. (Although we all like a fairy tale sometimes.) I love her beloved Alessandro, he is such a sweet character. They are an adorable couple, but not without their disagreements.
Alessandro's family are amazing! I love his mother, especially, and the fact that there are lots of them and they are all so close. They remind me of my family, although we don't all congregate at my Mums most days as they seem to!
I love how close Kate is with her two sisters also. It would be so hard for me to move away from my family (I struggled living in different counties, let alone countries!), so it very easy to understand how much she misses her sisters.
Kate doesn't have it easy settling in to her new life and at times it seems like the world is against her and she, understandably, worries that she might have to admit defeat and move back home, but she's not going to give up easily and thankfully she has her happy ending.
Beautifully written, as always. I highly recommend!
Many thanks, as always, to Bookouture for my auto-approval status on Netgalley and to the lovely Kim Nash for inviting me to take part in the blog tour.
This is the second in a series, I read Rome Is Where The Heart Is last month and thought it was adorable and such a perfect read for this time of year. A Wedding in Italy is the same, it’s a fun holiday read that makes you feel as if you’ve just returned from a Roman vacation by the time you finish.
What I’ve come to love about Tennant’s writing is that while she conjures up delightful images and swoon worthy romances she still manages to keep things believably realistic. In the first book I was impressed by how Kate and Alessandro were hesitant about their new relationship even though they cared very deeply for one another. This time around she stuck with a basis in reality as Kate struggles after her move to Rome. She misses her family terribly, she’s having trouble finding a job, the language barrier is frustrating and often embarrassing, and though she loves Alessandro more than ever, his meddling family is putting a huge strain on their brand new relationship. It was a nice change to read a romance where things don’t just end with a perfect, happily ever after. This was like seeing behind the curtain when the HEA moment ends and real life begins, it was so refreshing!
I really bonded with the characters the first time around and this time I was able to deepen my connection to them even more. Alessandro’s family all play a large part in the plot and I felt similar to Kate as one part of me loved them and the other part wished they would mind their own business. Their Italian dramatics, love of food and family, and loyalty ultimately won me over in the end. Kate and Alessandro are just as sweet as ever and their passion and chemistry was hot and spicy.
This is a lovely addition to the series, I would recommend packing them in your bag for your own vacation, they are perfect beach reads. Tennant writes gorgeous, descriptions that make you feel as if you’re strolling along in the streets of Rome and she made me hungry again with the scrumptious food explanations and details. I just hope there will be a third book coming soon?!
A free copy of this book was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A Wedding in Italy picks up from a previous novel where Kate and Alessandro met, fell in love and Kate moved to Italy to be with her boyfriend. This novel picks up where the first left off with Kate struggling to settle into life in Rome and having to deal with not just Alessandro's traditional Catholic family - who would have conniptions if they knew she was a divorcee - but his ex-giflfriend whom he also works with.
I found this book quite interesting just because it shows the messiness of life after 'happily ever after' with all the good bits full of romance and new relationships and bonds, and the bad bits with crazy exes, struggling to start fresh and deal with each other's bad habits. I loved Kate's relationship with Alessandro and his sisters, but felt at times that the story could have been cut a little bit. Orazia, the ex-girlfriend, also verges on being a stereotype of every crazed Mills and Boon-ex, which does ruin the story just a tad.
A really nice read for the summer. 3 stars.
Having enjoyed the first book in this series I couldn't wait to revisit the characters. Kate and Alessandro are trying to get used to life together, but there are a few barriers that need to be broken down before that can happen.
The main problem is the fact that Alessandro's mother doesn't believe Kate is a suitable match for her son, and she isn't the only one. There are others who are determined to show Alessandro that his true love lies elsewhere. Kate has to fight to prove that she is the right one to make him happy, but being away from her family she is alone in this.
The story is so well done, and the author throws in a lot of humour throughout once again. This story makes me want to visit Italy so much.
Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing a copy.
Thank you to Kim for letting me be part of this tour and Bookouture for my copy via Netgalley. I adore Tilly's books and when I heard there was a second book in this series I had to have it.
Not long after we leave Kate and Alessandro at the end of book one do we return in book two. Kate is now living in Rome but life isn't quite what she was hoping for. A job still alludes her, She doesn't quite feel accepted by the Conti's and Orazia is most definitely not giving up on Alessandro. Kate really does have the worst luck and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her at times.
I enjoyed being back in Kate and Alessandro's world. I loved Lucetta and Gian's wedding. The villa for the reception sounded magical.
I also enjoyed meeting Salvatore and Nunzia and of course seeing Jamie again was such a treat. Getting to see more than just central Rome was also exciting.
I loved seeing the characters develop in this story and I would love to see a book for the youngest Conti sister.
This is the second book in the From Italy With Love series (I posted my review about the first book earlier this month so you can catch that further down the feed). I was really keen to get my hands on this book and I was genuinely excited and looking forward to seeing where the story of Kate and Alessandro would go, would they make it? Would the family approve? Well having now finished it I can say that I really loved it – lots of twists and turns, a rollercoaster of emotions at times but it all ended as I hoped and it really is “a feel good summer holiday romance” as it claims and its one I’d definitely recommend you get for any summer holidays where you can relax and lie in the sun. I have been a huge fan of this authors works for a while and this one is excellent – 5 stars from me!
