Thanks to an advanced copy from Netgalley, I was able to read this sequel from Tilly Tennant. I really enjoyed the final book in this series. I was happy to pick up the story where Kate and Alessandro left off. Kate is now living in Rome, trying to make it day by day. Can she find a job/career that has meaning for her? Will Alessandro's family accept her? How will they feel when they discover she's divorced?
I really enjoyed this series. I really enjoyed seeing how realistic Kate's struggles were trying to make it in Rome. Trying to do it herself. Their love story is so cute, you can't helping pulling for them. And I enjoyed his family. Such a cute story!
A wedding in Italy brings to you the early fun, still romantic, yet at times a drag complete with family drama before the big wedding. A fun read but a bit less than book 1- Rome is where the heart is.
Having read and loved the first book 'Rome is where the Heart is', I was so pleased when this second book came out as I was so wanting to know how Kate and Alessandro were getting on.
So this second book was an absolutely delightful read, thoroughly enjoyable, it was great to read all about the characters and see how they were getting on. It was a real page turner and really loved the ending. Truly well written and the characters come across as real.
I highly recommend this book, but do make sure you read the first book first.
I'll post my review closer to publication and update the link then.
What another absolute gem. A pleasure to read.
It follows on from the last book, Rome is Where the Heart is.
Kate has moved to Italy to be with Alessandro.
She has a little apartment, a bit shabby but she makes the most of it.
She did borrow some money from her sisters, but she needs to find a job pretty quickly so she has some income. She made a couple of dresses for Nunzia, her landlord’s wife, but at a cut price.
Kate spends a lot of time at Alessandro’s family home. His mamma and sisters have taken her into their world. Well, except Maria. She is one of Alessandro’s older sisters, married and close friends with Orazia. Orazia is a family friend, and a colleague of Alessandro. She has always fancied him! She does stir things up a bit too. Kate being a divorcee doesn’t go down too well with the family either, due to their religious beliefs.
Kate lands herself a job. Not her dream job but it will do. She still dreaming of making dresses for a living.
Again the author took me on a tour of Rome and the surrounding area. I felt I was there, in the crazy traffic on the back of a moped….holding on for grim death.
The descriptions of the city were fab. I have fallen in love with it.
And the food!! From the gelatos to all the food prepared by mamma. It all sounded so delicious.
Jamie made a cameo appearance, and it was nice to see him again.
Kate’s sisters also visited and they realise why she loves the place so much.
Thank you for writing such a lovely, heartwarming story Tilly Tennant
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the review copy in return for an honest review.
It was wonderful to catch up with Kate and Alessandro again. The gentle romp through the beautiful Italian landscape is a feel good experience from start to finish.
I loved it.
We first met Kate and Alessandro in [book:Rome Is Where The Heart Is|33545905] and now they are back with another Italian tale.
If allowed halves I'd give this 3.5 stars. Fun to read about the characters again but the presentation was a bit sloppy. Trying to focus on too many things at once. Either way I'd like to read more about Kate and Alessandro or Alessandro's sisters.
I enjoyed this book as much as the first instalment.
It was a light, easy read but managed to still have me turning each page. I wanted to know whether she would stay in Italy or go back to the UK.
I found the characters to be believable and true to the plot. I did find the last chapter a bit rushed well not rushed but I would of liked a longer build up to the wedding.
I will look forward to the next instalment if here is one.
What a feel good read this was! I could tell, early on, that I was going to finish this in a few days. It really got my attention, soon after I started reading it. Tilly's writing is excellent; I felt like I could visualize the characters and the places/situations in this book, so clearly! Really kept me interested & I was so curious to see where it was taking me, plot wise. A sweet love story that had me wishing I was right there with them!
I am always excited when Tilly Tennant writes a new book because her stories always make me smile. This is no different with A Wedding in Italy and it was so nice to catch up with some very delightful characters who we meet in a previous book Rome Is Where The Heart Is. What I also like with this series is the fact that I can escape with the characters to a place I have never been too. Tilly is able to fully immerse her readers in the story making them feel like they are walking around the same streets in a different country as the characters. This is a major bonus of the authors writing style and I am so pleased that she was able to do this for me.
Fans of chick lit novels, this is a fantastic novel and I couldn't recommend it more to fellow readers. This is especially true for those who are looking for an escape but don't really have the means to do so.
I was delighted to get reading A Wedding In Italy after reading the first book.
This was just fantastic, it was so lovely to catch up with Kate and see how shes getting on living in Italy and how her relationship with Alessandro is developing.
Kate faces many struggles in this book and they all make her a stronger woman.
We also see her relationship with Alessandros family improve and it was really good to see if they finally all accepted Kate into their family.
I just loved reading this. It just makes you want to get on a plane and jet off to Italy.
It was supposed to be so romantic, so perfect, but Kate is discovering her life in Rome with her boyfriend Alessandro has more than a few glitches. She’s struggling with the language, her house is a wreck and her landlord is a knob. But all that pales in comparison to the challenges she faces from her boyfriend’s family, who want Alessandro to settle down with an Italian girl. When his family plots and connives to break them up, Kate wonders if she’s really meant to be with Alessandro after all. A snarky, sometimes bittersweet love story that reminds us all that we don’t just marry the man, we marry his family too (!)
Wow! What an amazing book'! I read this in one sitting - once I started I couldn't put it down. I had read and loved this author's debut and was eagerly waiting for her next book and it absolutely did not disappoint, surpassing her debut, which I had thought was amazing, in every way. This is a lovely, heartwarming tale with a wonderful sense of place. I felt like I was on holiday, immersing myself in the life of the characters - the author has an incredible gift of bringing the place and characters to life. I really loved this book and would highly recommend it and this author to everyone.
