One word to sum up this book. WOW!!! I have read the previous books in the Erica Foster series and this one definitely stood out the most for me. This was full of thriller and suspense from start to finish.. This book was slightly different from the others as you knew early on who the killer was, but you are swept along in Erica's world trying to catch the killer before he strikes again. Fantastic writing once more from Mr Bryndza and i hope that there are many more books in this series to come.

With each Erika Foster book, Robert Bryndza just gets better. In this novel, Foster claws her way back onto the team she wants to investigate a murder only to encounter what could be a serial killer. Bryndza isn't afraid to put beloved characters in danger, and he also doesn't shy away from inspiring some empathy for his killer...and his victims. If you've enjoyed the other Erika novels, you won't want to miss this one.

Last Breath is book 4 in the fabulous DCI Erika Foster series by Brit author Robert Bryndza. And no surprise, this one is another huge 5-star winner.

There is a murder in sentence one of the prologue and the action races on from there. Erika has been removed from the Murder Investigation Team and it’s killing her. In typical Erika fashion, she manages to get herself situated as Senior Investigative Officer on the case with the privilege of handpicking her team. She of course selects Moss, Peterson, Crane, and John McGorry amongst others. I love these guys!

The baddie is using social media to entrap beautiful women whom he tortures and then kills. We learn the identity of this person early on, enabling us to get into his head. I think this adds depth to the story and enhances the cat and mouse game between him and the police. Since we know “who done it”, Mr. Bryndza is feeding his little clues to Erika and her colleagues, rather than to us, and he makes this work quite well. The suspense progressively ratchets up as the team races to catch the murderer before he kills yet another young woman. Erika keeps running into roadblocks from her superiors as she tries to expedite her hunt with some dodgy moves, making us sweat all the more. The last 25% of the book is a page burner and the finale is downright thrilling. I thought I was going to jump right out of my chair!

As outstanding as the plot is, what I liked most was the further development of Erika’s character. I liked her before, but now I really love her. I can’t say she’s mellowed out all that much, but she is letting in those she cares about a bit more, and we are finding out more about what makes her tick. It’s also clear that though she can be impulsive and intentionally ignores some rules and orders, she does so because she passionately cares about the victims of the crimes she is investigating.

The only thing that struck me as a bit off was how Erika could get away with some of the things she pulled off, especially in the beginning of the book. But that’s the Erika I know and love so my 5-star rating stays intact.

I blew through this book and am sad to have to wait for Mr. Bryndza to write the next installment. I would like to put in a plug for him to his publisher, Bookouture, and urge them to offer their client a 16-book deal like they put together for my beloved Angela Marsons. I know a lot of readers who would be overjoyed if that happened.

The Erika Foster series is most highly recommended for all readers of crime fiction/thrillers. Start with book 1, The Girl in the Ice, unless you care little for character development. This series is much too brilliant to miss.

Detective Erika Foster can never be accused of setting out to win friends and influence people. In her personal life, she shies away from making emotional commitments and in her policing career she is so bluntly spoken to her superior officers that the promotion ladder doesn’t exactly beckon.
And she does not suffer fools gladly, so when Andy Sparks is promoted to Superintendent above her, she doesn’t fail to let him know that she thinks he is not up to the job.
Erika is frustrated in her current role on the Projects, where she is drowning in statistical reports. So when D.I. Peterson is called out to a murder scene, Erika goes with him, on the fragile excuse that the weather is delaying D.I. Moss from getting there quickly, so she can help out in the meantime.
When she sees the bloody corpse of a young woman, she is determined that she will fight her way onto the case, whatever it takes.
After she is successfully assigned a temporary role in the case, a surprising turn of events leads her to take the lead on it. It soon becomes clear that this is not the first murder this man has committed and through thorough police work they establish that this is a killer who uses social media to track and profile his victims and dating sites to lure them in.
I loved the way that he detailed how this could be achieved and was somewhat appalled by how easy it is. I thought I knew the pitfalls, but this was quite an eye opener.
In keeping with his ability to use social media to ensnare his victims, this killer is also acutely aware of how best to cover his tracks, so Erika and her team have real difficulty in pinning down his identity, even after they discover what colour of car he drives.
The reader, however, does know who the killer is and we are invited into his world and treated to his gruesome plans as he lines up more women for his perverted pleasure.
As Erika and her team battle to save his next victim from losing her life, we are made aware that things in Bromley nick are undergoing real change and not everyone is going to like the outcome.
I really enjoyed Last Breath. Bryndza has a way of making his characters authentic and likeable without smoothing their rough edges. It’s good to see Erika Foster coming more to terms with her situation and needing the comfort and support of friends. I also like the way that her team have really gelled.
A first rate addition to the D.I. Foster cannon.

Last Breath by Robert Bryndza
A smashing read! I've thoroughly enjoyed this series and this book did not disappoint. The pace was perfect, the plot believable and the investigation suitably stumped. A lone wolf with no criminal background and a penchant for killing.... No wonder the team were getting nowhere it is the sort of crime that would leave Sherlock pulling his hair out! Mr Bryndza, you did it again! Thank you for the pleasure of this series.

I'm so glad that Erika Foster is back! She is still a difficult and sometimes unlikeable character, but she is starting to listen to her colleagues and soften her stance. She's still as determined as ever and, when she gets involved in a case that's not hers, she quickly finagles her way back into the team. Some of Erika's flaws still get me riled up: seriously, eat some humble pie, you're too good to do a job you hate, but I don't need her to be likable to love her. And the members of her team are still as awesome as always, adding a little levity with their banter. The mystery is a little more straight-forward than loyal readers are used to: we know who the killer is from almost the start. We know how he's getting away with it, and we keep learning more and more details as the plot develops. The big question now is how is Erika going to catch him, since he is careful and leaves no trail. The villain is extremely evil but, when we see the world through his eyes, it's perfectly logical that he is acting the way he is (well, not really, but it's some kind of Stockholm Syndrome, he makes some kind of sense). I can't wait to see where the developments at the end of this novel, take Erika in the future.

If I could give this book 6 stars I would. this series just gets better and better with each book. I love the characters I love how the relationships and dynamics grow with each instalment and the story line was just fantastic. I couldn't put this one down, it sucked me in on the first page and didn't let go until I had finished. Brilliant!

I loved this book and thought that it was just brilliant! I have been a fan of Robert Bryndza's books for some years now and have really enjoyed the Erika Foster series after he made the transition over in to the very competitive crime genre. I have thoroughly enjoyed and loved every Erika book in the series so far and for me the stories and characters have just developed as the series have progressed. This book is a real page turner and I read it in just over a day (work got in the way!) and I already cannot wait for the next one in the series. This for me is easily the best one so far and really deserves its 5 stars - thoroughly enjoyable and loved the story from start to end. I will also post the review on my blog nearer the release date.

Another hugely enjoyable read in this series. I was so looking forward to reading this that I feared I may have set myself up for slight disappointment but I needn't have worried.

A young woman's body is found in a dumpster, brutally murdered and Detetcive Erika Foster is one of the first on the scene. The only problem is it isn't her case.
She is immediately drawn to the case and fights tooth and nail to become part of the investigation. When she finally gets her way she quickly links the killing to a similar killing four months ago and fears there is a serial killer on the loose. Both women have been horrifically tortured for days before being killed, both in the exact same manner. As another young woman goes missing she faces a race against time to solve the case before more women are murdered.

Our killer is finding and grooming his victims on social media. Posing as an attractive sporty young man he manipulates his victims into agreeing to meet with him for a date before kidnapping them and ultimately murdering them. Who is the real killer? How is he covering his tracks so well? He's like a ghost in the night. Untraceable online and nowhere to be seen on the numerous cctv cameras in London. Can Erika solve what seems an impossible case?

Last Breath is another cracker of a book in the Erika Foster series. The story zips along as you are drawn straight into Erikas world again and indeed the serial killers.
One of the things I really liked about this book was(and I don't think this is a spoiler) we the reader know who the killer is quite early on in the book. In fact we spend many chapters of the book with him, both in his "normal" life and his life as a serial killer. In fact Erika nearly takes a back seat in this one as the killer was the star of the show for me. That's not to say that she doesn't feature heavily and a hell of a lot happens to her again here apart from chasing the killer. It's just that the time spent with the killer is truly fascinating. It's also great fun knowing who the killer is, yet still reading and spending time with Erika and her team as they try to piece the scraps of evidence they have together to try and solve the case.

I really love this series. Mr Bryndza really has a well established and beautifully written central character in Erika. The stories have been great, effortless reading and thoroughly satisfying, this one stands up to and is as good as, if not better than the predecessors.

An easy five star review for me. I'm already looking forward to the next instalment of this series.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and Robert Bryndza for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another stunner which I powered through over the weekend! Detective Erika Foster does it again. Full of suspense, twists and turns leaving you reeling. The characters come alive again - I just love this working team. Conversations are realistic, gritty and witty. An intensly clever, murder story with seriously creepy suspects and some very scary social media. Can't wait for the next one and envious of those who have yet to read! Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for review copy.

This is the fourth book in this detective series and the first one I've read. I have immediately downloaded the first three and kicked myself for not finding this fantastic author sooner.
The book centers around detective Erica Foster. I'll admit for the first few chapters I didn't like her (because I didn't have the back story from the first three books) but as the book wore on I really warmed to her.
She and her team (eventually) investigate the murder of two girls, both murdered in the same way and their bodies dumped in similar locations. This is not a who dunnit as the murderer is made clear from mid way in the book, but the tension is fantastic as you experience both sides having close shaves and you really can feel the tension grow for the investigating team and the murderer.
The book drags you along by on a gut wrenching chase which could end in another murder and you frantically try to figure out how it will all tie together. There is no "hunch" or "lucky break" in the way they figure it all out which I loved. It was all done completely convincingly.
I really got invested in the characters born good and bad which for me is the signs of an amazing writer.
Now for books one, two and three!!!

Gruesome murders. A possible serial killer on the loose. Unrest and a big shake-up in England's Bromley Police Department. And that's just for openers in this, the fourth in the author's series featuring Detective Erika Foster. What more could any mystery lover want?

Nothing, says this mystery lover (and lover of this series in particular) - except possibly a few additional chapters to give me more time with my nose in these pages and/or a very short wait till the fifth installment is published. Meantime, I thank the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read an advance review copy of this one.

The beginning finds Erika in a sort of informal personal relationship with fellow police officer James Peterson and no longer working on the Murder Squad. But when the dead body of a woman who had been horribly tortured turns up in a dumpster, Erika wants her old job back so she can take the lead on the case. The powers that be aren't exactly hot to trot on the idea - Erika isn't known for mincing words - but after another surprise twist (and the discovery of a possible tie-in with an eerily similar murder a few months earlier), her wish is granted, at least temporarily.

All the investigative team can figure out is that the killer apparently is stalking his victims online and using an online dating service to lure them to him. Finding who and where he is, though, proves far more difficult; even learning the color and make of his car isn't much help - it's one of the most popular in all of England.

The story moves along quickly, and I love how new bits of information on the characters are worked in as the action becomes more complex and exciting (I finished the last quarter of the book nonstop just because I was totally wrapped up in what was happening). I couldn't wait to get to the end but didn't want it to end, if you know what I mean. Highly recommended (as are the others in the series)!

This latest Erika Foster book was just brilliant. Bryndza just gets better and better at these thrillers and Last Breath does not disappoint. It's good to see Erika's character develop and deepen, as she starts to let go of her past enough to try to start living again. I have many patrons who will be thrilled when this book gets released.

As usual Robert Bryndza delivers another brilliant book! Couldn't put it down once I picked it up. The storyline was fast paced and hooks you from the first few pages!

Detective Erika Foster has this obsession. Its called being a police detective. She can't let go of a case until she solves it. Even if its not her own.

In Last Breath, by Robert Bryndza, women are connecting with the most amazing guy online. He seems funny, gorgeous and sexy .. and the women? They can't wait to meet him. And when that happens? He abducts them and holds them captive for days. Then he brutally murders them. When Detective Foster finds out about what appears to be the first murder, she's not even assigned to the Murder Team. She's on the Projects Team. But you know Foster.. she just can't help but insert herself and investigate. After all, she just wants to solve murders. Superintendent Sparks has other ideas however. There is bad blood between he and Foster. If only that was enough to keep Foster at bay.

Luckily for her, Foster has Detectives Peterson and Moss to back her up and together, they make a great team. In a crazy stroke of events, Foster gets a spot on Murder and she, Peterson and Moss work to investigate the murders, which are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated. This guy stalks his victims. Preys on them and they are none the wiser. But you know Foster, she can't give up when trying to solve a case, even when faced with horrific danger.

In Last Breath, the author Robert Bryndza, shows a new depth of character for Detective Erika Foster. She has become more vulnerable and is learning to open up to others, which she wasn't able to do in the prior books in this series. Her relationship with Peterson and Moss continue add layers of humanity to her, as does her relationship with best friend and confidant, Issac Strong. Her romantic relationship with Peterson progresses as well and we see a new side to Foster. Moss, funny as always, makes you laugh out loud and shows Foster how important good female friendships are.

In my opinion, this is the best book in this series. The author, Robert Bryndza outdoes himself with each book and here, he kept me totally consumed by the storyline and the characters, whom I adore (murderers aside, of course!). This thriller is one I'd recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery/suspense. It can be read as a standalone, though I think that reading all of the books in the series gives you great insight into these fantastic characters.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, Robert Bryndza for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Published on NetGalley and Goodreads on 3/19/17.

*Will be Published on Amazon on 4/12/17.

Do you use a dating app, such as Match.com? So does this guy -- he sets up fake profiles and lures in beautiful young women. Then, he kills them. So be wary of social media, cause you really don't know who is looking at you and what they do with your information.

Another great installment in the Detective Erika Foster series and I have read and loved them all! The plot stories are all very interesting and the description of the investigative procedures is excellent. I have grown attached to Erika and the members of her team as the characters are three dimensional and unique. I like the writing and the way the author alternated the chapters and point of view. If you're looking for a new series that features a female cop and one that is set in and around London, then this is a great one to start.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review. I cannot wait for the next book as Erika begins a new chapter in her life!

This book is the fourth outing for Erika Foster and it was just brilliant. The fast pace and the story line pulled you in from the outset and didn't let go until the last page. For me personally I think this is the best book in the series, I can't wait for the next one.

Oh my giddy aunt Robert Bryndza never fails to surprise me, just when I convinced myself the Detective Erika Foster series couldn't possibly get any better, he delivers another belter of a book. Last Breath is the 4th book in the Detective Erika Foster series and although it can be read as a standalone I would recommend you read this series in order just because there such a cracking good read. I'm going to say it again but this is definitely the best book in the series (until the next book anyway). Each time this author writes a book he raises the bar and I'm not sure how he's going to top this one but I have no doubt he will.

The author doesn't hold back and Last Breath opens with a spine chilling prologue that pretty much sets the pace for this gripping read. When the body of a tortured young woman is found in a dumpster it's up to Erika and her team to find the killer before he finds new victims, but first she will have to fight to secure her place on the investigation team. It's great to see Erika back she's a character whom I've come to love, in many ways she's your typical fictional detective, she's feisty, isn't afraid to kick ass, but over the series the author has developed her vulnerable side and in Last Breath we see a side of her personality I wasn't expecting.

As I suspected the author has created one sick and sadistic individual, this is a serial killer who will chill you to the bone, as to their motive for committing such heinous crimes they really are a twisted soul. A serial killer stalking their victims on social media, makes for a very credible plot. After all how often do you look at social media sites and wonder why people share so much of their personal life on line for everyone to see, it's frightening to see how much you can learn about a person without them even being aware of unwelcome visitors trawling their posts. In fact I became so paranoid after reading Last Breath I checked all my own personal settings on social media!

Robert Bryndza doesn't waste words he takes the reader to the heart of the story, as I said before his writing is so descriptive it brings Last Breath to life, especially the crime scenes, they are so vivid you feel like your there amid the horrific scenes, so much so my stomach was churning at times. The authors style of writing leaves you with a constant sense of unease and foreboding which you just can't shake off no matter how hard you try. What I particularly like about this series is how different each book has been from the last and how each story offers something unique, which is why Robert Bryndza continues to be one of my very favourite authors on the planet.
5⭐My review maybe altered slightly and edited prior to publication on my blog
