I absolutely loved this book! This is the fourth instalment in the DCI Erika Foster series and it is just as good as the previous three books. Robert Bryndza writes with such flair, imagination and intricate detailing, he has you captivated right from the word go. His style of writing is second to none and I would recommend this book and his previous crime thriller books in a heartbeat.

Took my breath away. (sorry, pun intentional). This series has just got better and better. I love Erika's character - you could really feel her frustration that she's no longer on the Murder Investigation Team. Her relationships have more fizz and sparkle which brings more depth to the stories.
I loved the angle and approach in this book - felt fresh and kept your interest (which is never an issue for this author).

5* very enjoyable read, despite its subject matter...

This is the 4th book in the Detective Erika Foster series by author Robert Bryndza.
I discovered this author fairly recently and since then I have read every book I have found by him. He is such a talent and excels at both romantic comedies and in this case Detective thrillers, which is a feat in itself.
In this book a tortured body of a young woman is found in a dumpster, her eyes swollen shut and her clothes soaked with blood. Detective Erika Foster is one of the first at the crime scene but the trouble is, it’s not her case and her presence at the crime scene is not wanted.

Erika fights to secure her place on the investigation team and can’t help but get involved quickly finding a link to the unsolved murder of a woman four months earlier. Dumped in a similar location, both women have identical wounds, a fatal incision to their femoral artery.

Stalking his victims online, the killer is preying on young pretty women using a fake identity. How will Erika catch a murderer who doesn’t seem to exist?

Then another girl is abducted while waiting for a date. Erika and her team must get to her before she becomes another dead victim, and, come face to face with a terrifyingly sadistic individual.

This is an excellent series and is consistently of an high standard. I can highly recommend this author and this book in particular.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

The latest novel (Book 4) in the Detective Erika Foster series, Last Breath, by Brit author Robert Bryndza is out now! Robert Bryndza is the author of the international #1 bestseller The Girl in the Ice, is the first book in the Detective Erika Foster series. The Night Stalker, and Dark Water are the second and third books in the series, and the fourth book, Last Breath, has just been published. Having loved the previous books in the series, I was anxious to read book 4 in the series, Last Breath. I would suggest you read the entire series in order. You will be in for a treat. I'm an Erika Foster fan so I've been really looking forward to this.

He has done it again! I feel that this is his best book yet! A gripping serial killer that will keep you guessing and flipping the pages till the very end!

He’s your perfect date. You’re his next victim.

“When the tortured body of a young woman is found in a dumpster, her eyes swollen shut and her clothes soaked with blood, Detective Erika Foster is one of the first at the crime scene. The trouble is, this time, it’s not her case.

While she fights to secure her place on the investigation team, Erika can’t help but get involved and quickly finds a link to the unsolved murder of a woman four months earlier. Dumped in a similar location, both women have identical wounds – a fatal incision to their femoral artery.”

In this novel, DCI Erika Foster transfers from the “Projects Team”, where she is currently assigned and bored, pushing paper around…to the “Murder Investigation Team” headed by her rival, Superintendent Sparks. She also gets to work with her “love interest” Detective James Peterson, from the Murder Investigation Team who she had worked in different units in the past. They kept their relationship private, and only a few workers knew. I loved the interaction between Erika and James, and he proved a valuable sounding board for her, and kept her grounded as she was not afraid to speak her mind. I look forward to see where their relationship is headed in the future.

The serial killer is targeting young women in the London area, using fake profiles on social media. He builds up their trust before initiating a meeting.

Then another girl is abducted while waiting for a date. Erika and her team must get to her before she becomes another dead victim.

It is impossible to put down this book! I raced to the end to see how it would end…and now I want more!

But most important, Robert has also highlighted the dark side of social media, when you let your guard down. Be careful what you post on social media…as it can come back to haunt you!

I want to thank Robert Bryndza, Netgalley and my favourite publisher, Bookouture for the ARC.

The author has done it again. He has produced a story which had me absolutely riveted all the way through, I wasn't able to put it down until I had finished.

Erika Foster is once again thrown into a case which leads not only her into danger, but also her team. She has to battle to get herself onto the case to start with, but once there she is like a dog with a bone. She will not give up until she solves the mystery.

Once more the characters are all written brilliantly, including the guy who everyone is trying to find and catch. Once it starts the story picks up pace very quickly and tears along at such a pace I dare you to put it down once you start.

Once thing I particularly love is Erika's continuing 'relationship' with Peterson. The twist the author throws in near the end of the story left me with my heart in my mouth. I couldn't believe he had gone there.

Another amazing story from the author and I honestly cannot wait to see what he comes up with next for the characters I have grown to love. Huge thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing a copy.

When patrons are looking for a new police procedural, I love recommending Robert Bryndza to them. His series featuring Detective Erika Foster is new to many of them, but once they read the first book,, they’re hooked. “Last Breath” is another first-rate book in this terrific series.

I was so excited to receive a free copy of Last Breath from Netgally in exchange for an honest review. I have loved all of Robert Bryndza’s books including his Coco Pinchard romantic comedy series.

What can I say, it’s an absolutely fantastic book – so good in fact that I spent all day reading it.

When the body of a tortured young woman is found in a residential rubbish bin it’s up to Erika and her team to find the killer before he finds new victims, but first Erika has to fight to secure her place on the murder investigation team.

The characters just come alive and the plot is addictive and it makes you start to question your privacy settings on social media. While you are reading the book you can easily visualise the story as if you were watching it on TV or at the cinema.

Easy 5 stars from me. Highly recommend reading.

OMG,OMG,OMG Robert has smashed it once again! Just over a year ago I read The Girl In The Ice and I knew then that he was going to be a smash hit. I have loved every Erika Foster novel that Robert has wrote. Just when I think there is no way his books can get any better, Robert just proves me wrong. These books just go from strength to strength. I keep saying OMG this is the best one yet but seriously this one really is. From the story line to the style of writing Last Breath has certainly took my breath away, this book is phenomenal!

With one gritty prologue that leaves you wanting more once a again we are taken on a roller coaster ride. Last Breath tells a story of a young woman who is found brutally tortured. When I say brutally I mean brutally! My god the autopsy descriptions made me cringe totally turning my stomach

Detective Erika Foster is one of the first at the crime scene and it's not her case. While she fights to secure her place on the investigation team, Erika can’t help but get involved and quickly finds a link to the unsolved murder of a woman four months earlier. Dumped in a similar location, both women have identical wounds – a fatal incision to their femoral artery.

One thing I loved about this story is the fact that we know who the killer is and it’s just a matter of time before the police find out who it is. Which makes a change from guessing who it is.

This certainly isn't for the faint hearted the killer is one twisted individual who stalks his victims online totally putting any of you readers off online dating LOL

Last Breath is one epic, gripping, page turner must read which I highly recommend giving it 5 massive gold stars.

Sometimes as a series goes on the books kind of lose the appeal they once held. The fourth book in the Erika Foster series, however, is just as great as the others! The thing that makes this one different from the previous books is that we learn the identity of the killer quite early on, but this makes it no less thrilling. The plot moves at a steady pace and Bryndza creates a high stakes atmosphere full of tension, fear, and mystery. The development of Erika character was well done, she's growing as the series progresses and I enjoyed seeing her try and move forward from her past. Her relationship with Peterson is a slow burn and it was well handled too, in my opinion. Overall, a great read!

I was hooked from the start. I just love Erika Foster and her no nonsense approach, although it's good to see her softer side! I couldn't put this down, even reading whilst travelling as a passenger in the car (I suffer motion sickness!), completing it in a day!! Fantastic read and can't wait for the next!!

Detective Erika Foster is suffering the consequences of her unfiltered speaking and has been turned down for her reassignment to the murder unit. Of course that doesn't stop her from butting herself into the newest case: the torture, murder, and dumping of a young co-ed. Through Foster's diligence, and inability to directly and openly work the case, she finds a link to a previous case and a new serial killer is born! This discovery gives her a wedge back into the murder unit, at least temporarily. Without giving anything away, I especially enjoyed Foster's character development in this book. She seems to be coming to some peace with her husband Mark's death. Maybe that anguish has been the source of her professional missteps? Maybe her relationship with Peterson can help smooth her edges (just a bit though, not too much)? I look forward to seeing where book #5 takes Foster and what devious villain Mr. Bryndza comes up with next.

Erika Foster is back and this time she’s got a fight on her hands. She’s fighting for the case she is desperate to solve. The body of a young woman thrown into a dumpster like a piece of rubbish in the depths of winter.

We discover who the killer is quite early on, but this doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the investigation. In fact, shadowing this twisted killer adds to the story as it is interspersed with the police investigation, each step getting that little bit closer to Erika catching this evil killer. Meanwhile Erika has to prove herself again in the myriad of police politics and personal agendas standing in her way of fighting crime on the streets of the big smoke.

This book is a lesson on the dangers of social media and meeting people on line. Is everyone who they say they are?? Robert Bryndza shows us that adults can be targeted with fake profiles and that concept isn’t totally out of his imagination. Personally I have been targeted by someone with a fake profile, thankfully not as a future victim of a killer but she was a thief. It just goes to show that adults can be duped by people they meet on line – do you know everyone you’re friends with on Facebook?

Robert Bryndza has written four excellent novels before Last Breath and this latest offering definitely lives up to its predecessors. It’s fast paced with Erika’s race against the clock to catch the killer before they strike again. I did sit there with my hand over my mouth at various points through the story and as the investigation reached its climax, I was holding my breath willing the team to get there in time. If you’ve loved the previous Erika Foster books, you are in for a treat!!

A massive thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for my copy - just one question – Robert when’s the next one out? Feeling withdrawal symptoms already 😂

BAM! Easily Five Stars. Right from the 21% mark I knew he'd moved up a star rating for me. His writing has always been five star since The Girl in the Ice. However, sometimes something small would hold me back a half or full star, either with foreseeing the plot or just not feeling wowed. Not with this series entry. I'm revelling at this title. It's a sure fire HIT! Sorry for the caps, but they're beyond deserved.

Robert Bryndza, you are in a league all your own now. I have my favourite authors but sometimes even their titles sometimes disappoint somewhere. You NEVER do, no matter a half star here or there. I don't think I've ever been as excited to read a new book than with this one. When I was approved by Bookouture to review this option, elated would be an understatement. Truly.

I won't reiterate all the things from my last reviews that I absolutely love about this series. Just know, it's hands down, one of the best series out there currently. If you love excellent characters, damn well great written narrative, and plots that have you hooked, than Bryndza NEEDS to be on your list of authors. He never, never, ever disappoints. Lol #fangirl Try not to judge me here. I've always been told, never say never, unless you mean it enough to say it twice. ;-)

HUGE thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley, for allowing me an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I appreciate it more than you know!

Nothing more exciting than a new series to buy and share with friends for occasions. So thanks again!!!

Robert Brynzda and his amazing character, DCI Erika Foster, have given me a gripping and thrilling, British police procedural read once again! This fourth book is even stronger than the first and just as additive.
LAST BREATH (Detective Erika Foster, #4) starts off with a beautiful young girl found dead in a dumpster in London. Erika is with Peterson when he gets the call and decides to ride along to the scene. She wants in on the case, but her nemesis Stark is now Superintendent of the Murder Investigative Team and sends her on her way.
Erika is on desk duty, which she hates, but she just cannot keep her mouth silent when dealing with superiors. As she languishes, she applies to return to the Murder Investigative Team, but it does not look good until there is a medical emergency and she gets her chance to once again lead her previous team of detectives. With all of her experience, Erika connects this case to a previous unsolved case. As a third girl is reported missing, it becomes apparent that the team is chasing a serial killer who seems to disappear leaving no clues.
The killer is unveiled early on in this book by Mr. Brynzda. We get to look into his mind and life as Erika and her team try to stop him. It adds nail-biting tension as we watch him kidnap another victim and he begins to devolve with Erika and her team on his trail.
Erika is so complex, hard on the outside, but vulnerable. Her character has had to deal with loss, guilt, and moving forward emotionally while dealing with her ups and downs on the police force. The secondary characters all have unique personalities that add depth to each book. The fast paced plot keeps you reading and turning the pages. This is a series that I feel needs to be read in order and since it is on book #4, you better get busy!
Thank you very much to Bookouture and Net Galley for allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review. It was completely my pleasure!

If you haven't met Erika Foster yet... what are you waiting for? Start from the beginning of the series for the best possible experience. Highly recommended to fans of crime thrillers and badass women.

Robert Bryndza never disappoints. This is another intense, well written, absorbing thriller with a main character we've grown to know and love. She has grown and changed as the series goes on, and I'm very attached to her and several recurring characters that continue to feature in the novels. The mystery in this one was chilling. We find out who the culprit is far before Erika and her team do, and get glimpses into his demented mind. It'll make you think twice about what you share on social media, that's for sure.

Erika tags along with Detective Peterson when he gets a call. It's a horrific sight: a badly beaten young woman dumped like rubbish in a dumpster. She immediately feels that urge to help, but it isn't her case. Her stubbornness and determination wins out, and she's transferred back to the murder investigation division. And it's lucky she was, because it's Erika that finds a link to a very similar murder from months before. Someone is snaring beautiful young women into his web and abducting and torturing them... and he's not going to stop.

I was given an ARC of this book from Net Galley and Bookouture, thank you! My review is honest and unbiased.

Thank you so much to Net Galley, the publishers and the author Robert Bryndza.

Number 4 in the series, and I think the best, and the fastest paced of all the books in the series.

A good chance that the book being only 281 pages helped with the pace, straight into the gripping story.

Detective Erika Foster is back in Last Breath and Bryndza delivers another exciting crime thriller!

When the tortured body of a young woman is found in a dumpster, her eyes swollen shut and her clothes soaked with blood, Detective Erika Foster is one of the first at the crime scene. The trouble is, this time, it’s not her case!

While she fights to secure her place on the investigation team, Erika can’t help but get involved and quickly finds a link to the unsolved murder of a woman four months earlier. Dumped in a similar location, both women have identical wounds – a fatal incision to their femoral artery.

Stalking his victims online, the killer is preying on young pretty women using a fake identity. How will Erika catch a murderer who doesn’t seem to exist? Will I use Facebook the same after this book !

Then another girl is abducted while waiting for a date. Erika and her team must get to her before she becomes another dead victim, and, come face to face with a terrifyingly sadistic individual.

Gripping, tense and impossible to put down, Last Breath will have you on the edge of your seat, racing to the final dramatic page.

I have really enjoyed Erika’s character development throughout this series and in Last Breath, we see a new side to Erika, one that shows her in, perhaps, a more vulnerable light, while still being determined, flawed and likeable –

Another great aspect of this book is the relationship between Erika and Peterson, will grows throughout the book, and also adds a chance for the author to add a little humour in the story.

The strength of the team, including Moss, Crane and Dave.

So good to read the books in order, as you get to known the characters as we go through each book.

Loved this book, and read the last 30% in one evening as I just could not put the book down.

This series I do highly recommend.

Next to Angela Marson's and another great lead character !!

Another thrilling and tense book for Robert Bryndza, Last Breath is my favourite yet!

The story is non stop from the first sentence in the prologue to the very last. I could not bear to put it down as there was always something exciting happening. The killer using a fake identity on social media to lure women to their death is also frighteningly realistic.

I especially loved the character development of Erika in this book, as we see her become more open towards her team. She is still ruffling more than a few feathers when it comes to her superiors however!

Robert Bryndza has done it again! Book 4 in the Erika Foster series did not disappoint. This series just keeps getting better. Full of action, drama, great characters and a rattling good pace. Well written with a great story line, I can't wait for book 5! Many thanks to Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads and Amazon.

Another excellent crime thriller by Robert Bryndza, centred around DCI Erika Foster and her colleagues. Despite having been assigned away from the Murder Investigation Team, Erika finds a way to attend the crime scene when a body is found in a dumpster in a car park. Very much led by instinct and intuition, she cannot let it go and begins to look deeper, managing to get herself, eventually, reassigned to the investigation. This is a compelling and thrilling read, cleverly crafted and plotted, with intriguing and believable characters who are beginning to feel like old friends. Good one, Robert!
