I thought this was a great addition to the Detective Erika Foster Series. In this one, Erika is bored in her role and wants back on the Murder Investigation Team. When she is the first at a crime scene, she is determined to investigate, although her involvement isn't appreciated. After unexpected events land her in charge of the investigation team, she has to work hard to catch the murderer as the victim toll rises.

I'm enjoying the difficult character of Erika Foster, and I thought that this one really moved the series forward. I like Erika's team, and enjoyed the fast pace and action in this one. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy in return for an honest review.

Another cracking read! Erika Foster is one of my favourite detectives and this fourth book featuring Erika and her team did not disappoint.
The book starts with a murder. Erika is desperate to return to the murder team after her removal following a previous case and soon gets her way after linking two crimes. She assembles her usual team and we catch up with Moss, Peterson and other familiar characters.
So begins the usual fast paced roller coaster thriller ride we have become used to from this author. The reader knows who is committing the murders from early on and slowly the author feeds the clues to Erika and her team. The last part of the book moves at a furious pace and is impossible to put down.
We see further development of Erika’s character and her relationship with Peterson which adds human interest to the story. Already looking forward to the next instalment!
With thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for a review copy.

Bryndza continues to dazzle me with his writing. He used to write funny witty romances and now it's serial killers, quite the range of style. I was thrilled to be given an advanced copy of his latest thriller. Erika Foster, a seasoned detective and professional hunter of serial killers, has a new case that she pretty much stole from another detective. She has issues with authority, does not care a wink who she pisses off and fights for the victims first. She is my hero for women's rights and all police personel everywhere. We get the story from multiple points of view ranging from Erika, to her partners, to the victims to the killer. Woven together in a magical way that takes readers through some pretty scary moments, some between the top brass at the department and some with the killer. Each of Foster's stories is a different thriller, so technically they could be read independently. However, I beg you to read them in order because Erika is a complex person and her interpersonal skills are a challenge. Understanding the reasons for her style and interaction with her peers and superiors is important for the story dynamic. Every time I finish one of his books I need to cool down, my blood gets pumping with excitement every time. Congrats on another fabulous book!

The next instalment of the Detective Erika Foster series is absolutely brilliant and I just couldn't put it down. Fast paced, interesting and enthralling I devoured it in 3 sittings. Definitely the best one yet!

Erika is whiling her time away on another team desperate to get back to Murder Squad. She's at the scene of a murder with Peterson and is desperate to be part of the team solving the crime. She suddenly finds herself SIO and hand picks a great team which includes friends and colleagues Peterson, Moss and Crane.

The cunning murderer is using social media to search for dark haired beauties, befriending them before going in for the kill. We know who it is but Erika and the team have a couple of false starts before racing to a stunning edge of the seat conclusion. Absolutely loved it!

Bryndza just writes like a dream. The writing pulls you in from the first page and doesn't let you go until you close the book at the end. I read this in 1 sitting,

I am fast becoming hooked on this series and Erika Foster and her crew. I think "Last Breath" is my favorite and I am anxious for the next one in this series. This book was different in that we discover who the bad guy is early on in this book and we have to wait for Erika and her team to catch up to our knowledge. I also enjoyed the social media aspect of it, brings a bit of awareness at how dangerous social media is and can be. The killer sets up fake profiles and lures in his victims. Be careful with that information you "share" so easily on social media, this guy looks for certain traits of what kind of girl he is looking for and you just may be his next victim!

I feel I have grown attached to Erika and the members of her team. I am onboard for all future installments in this series. Very well written and another page turner! Keep them coming Robert Bryndza! 4.5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review, always appreciated!

Woo hoo, stop everything because Erika Foster is back, and back with a bang. Last Breath is the fourth and best book of the series so far. I cannot tell you how much I loved it! If you are a fan of Erika then stop everything and get reading. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading this series yet – what is wrong with you? You need to rectify that!!

If you like a thriller / crime / police procedural book then this may be the perfect series for you. Erika is a ballsy, sassy, gritty detective who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty or fly close to the wind in order to get the job done. So much so that when she comes face to face with the scene of a murder she will stop at nothing to get herself on to the investigation team, no matter what she has to do or who she upsets.

This book picked me up by the scruff of the neck, whirled me around and didn’t release me again until I had turned the last page. I was transported into a whirlwind of action, drama and suspense that was relentless.

The premise of the book is around a serial killer who stalks his victims online before taking them and torturing them before they meet a grisly end. I tell you what, it made me think about just how much information I put online and just how accessible it is. It is quite scary to think that this is the ‘norm’ and to think of the potential for misuse. I am glad I didn’t grow up in the digital age!

Last Breath is full of drama and had me totally engrossed from start to finish. Would Erika be able to solve the puzzle and capture the killer, or would the body count continue to grow? Alongside the killings there is also drama in Erika’s personal and professional life. This book made me feel like I got to see not only her professional Detective face, but also delved deeper inside the skin of her personality and other dimensions of her identity. I feel like there could still be so much more for Erika to give to me as a reader. This is a series I would be happy to see run and run.

Last Breath definitely took my breath away! With descriptive writing that developed a dark central character who is a real nasty, it moved at a pace, and grew in urgency that had me captivated and rushing to turn the page. A truly gritty and at times gruesome book I was on the edge of my seat and loved every second!

Roll on book five…….

A young woman found tortured and dead in a dumpster was reported missing after going out to meet a man she met on the internet. Erika Foster, no longer part of the Murder Investigation Team is close by when the call goes out to attend the site and can't help but get involved. After she discovers a similar case, she eventually gets to lead a team looking for the murderer and it becomes a race against time to stop him abducting more young girls.
This series is developing really well with more insight into Erika's prickly character and difficulty with personal relationships. She's quite brash and forceful in pushing her way into the murder investigation (but for some reason gets away with it) but it's clearly where she belongs. She's also becoming more open to others and her relationship with Peterson is developing nicely. The novel is written in short punchy chapters which move between the police investigation and the murderer as he grooms his victims until they are ready to lure into meeting him resulting in a fast paced novel with the tension building to a thrilling finish. Highly recommended!

Yet again a five star book from Robert. Every one of his books makes me keep turning the pages. They are written so well you think you are part of the MIT team or in Erika's head.

Erika has been removed from the Murder Investigation Team and it’s killing her but typical of Erika mode she manages to get herself situated as Senior Investigative Officer after a sad turn of events. Part of her team of course is Peterson, Moss and John. Just love this team.

The murderer is using social media to entrap and groom beautiful women whom he tortures and then kills leaving them in dumpsters and using a lethal medical incision on each one. We learn the identity of the murderer quite early on, enabling us to get into his head. I think this adds depth to the story and enhances the cat and mouse game between him and the police.

I really enjoyed seeing more of Erika’s character and her relationship developing with Peterson. I also like that she hasn't changed her "go get" attitude despite it getting her into trouble in the past. She does literally "get away with murder" sometimes and I wonder how she gets back onto the MIT but then she is a great investigator.

Thank you for allowing me an arc of this book. Highly recommended to readers of crime and thrillers. Very much looking forward to the next Erika Foster book.

First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Robert Bryndza, and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

I devoured the previous three novels in this series and could not get my hands on this latest piece fast enough. While family obligations slowed my completion of this book, this should not be indicative of my interest in the story or Bryndza's writing in general. As the story opens, DCI Erika Foster is still struggling with her assignment outside of the Murder Investigation Team (MIT), while making the most of still having a job. When a call comes to one of the MIT while Foster is present, they both head to the scene, where a young woman has been found murdered and left in the Dumpster. Quick to take charge, Foster tries to control the scene, only to be ordered away. This creates significant headaches for her later on, something with which Foster is only too familiar. Working leads on her own, Foster meets with a former colleague to pass along information, only to find herself in the middle of a harrowing medical emergency. Soon thereafter, Foster seeks and receives another secondment, giving her a chance to lead an MIT as they look for the killer. This one lurks in the shadows as he lures victims through social media, posing as a number of highly attractive men, which proves to be the opposite of his own appearance. The killer's distinctive crime pattern offers some insight for Foster and her MIT, though it will take more than apt police work to catch this cunning individual. As both Foster and the killer struggle with personal issues, it will be a game of cat and mouse until one makes an irreversible error. Another stunning read that will surely help reestablish the Bryndza conversation and leave a new round of fans scrambling to learn all about Erika Foster.

Bryndza's effectiveness is not lost on me or the scores of others I know who rush to devour every book when they hit the market. Be it the wonderful cross-section of characters or how well they mesh together, the reader can fall in love with the character development alongside a powerful mystery. The narrative is strong and leaves the reader hanging and wanting to read 'just a little more', which is complemented by extremely quick chapters. This quick march through the story has the reader sitting for a period and seamlessly digesting large portions of the book, loving every nuance. The only downside to this is that when the 'high' of the story comes to an end, the reader is left crashing and begging for more. Bryndza has such a way with words, settings, and realistic depictions that anyone can read them and feel completely at ease. There is no geographic snobbery that the reader ought to know areas of London and environs to properly navigate through the story. Taking the time to offer an interesting argument about the pitfalls of social media, Bryndza's social commentary leaves the reader pondering their own online fingerprint and how dishonesty fuels privacy. Brilliant work again, though I am forced to bide my time and hope that there are a few more ideas percolating inside the author's mind as we speak.

Kudos, Mr. Bryndza for yet another spectacular novel in this series. I find myself impatient, but highly excited what you have planned next for DCI Foster and the rest of the team. Thank you for entertaining so effectively with all you publish.

This is the latest high octane and atmospheric installment in a favourite series for me, DCI Erika Foster. Erika has been shunted onto the Special Projects Team and she is understandably not happy. Things come to a head when she finds herself on the scene of a grisly discovery. A young woman, Lacey Greene, has been abducted, gruesomely tortured for days and murdered by having her femoral artery cut, then dumped as though she was trash. The serial killer's identity is no secret as we get his perspective and actions alongside the police investigation.

Erika gets involved in the case and nothing is going to stop her getting on the Murder Investigation Team despite Superintendent Sparks opposition. Erika discovers connections with a previous murder with the same MO and finds herself as Senior Investigating Officer picking her team, as Sparks suffers a heart attack. The team struggle to identify the perpetrator, there seems to be no trace of him anywhere. This pushes Erika down unorthodox paths and facing problems with the police hierarchy. The killer is a hugely compelling dark and manipulative character who stalks his victims online on Social Media, slowly infiltrating their lives until they feel comfortable accepting a date with him. The multiple threads begin to eventually connect as Erika and her team race against time to find the serial killer in their efforts to ensure that no further women are endangered.

This is a fantastic addition to a series that only seems to get better. There is development with Erika's character as she is more open to being vulnerable and opening up emotionally to her team and best friend. She is in a relationship with James Peterson which is going well. However, she is never going to be a sweetness and light person, she is going to do what she needs to do, and for that, her abrasive side can be a strength. This is a fast paced read with short chapters that utterly grips the reader. There is plenty of tension, twists and suspense. The Social Media angle in the novel touches on an important contemporary issue in our modern world. Wonderful read and highly recommended. Thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

Robert Bryndza you've done it again....simply brilliant. I'm a huge fan of Erika Foster, she's a great character, feisty and determined, often loud and a little blunt but that's why I think as a character it works so well.
The fourth in this series finds Erika determined to get back to work in MIT, even if she has to beg. The body of a young woman is found by students in a dumpster., Erika wants to find the killer and if that means eating humble pie then so be it.
Fast, gritty and thrilling this is one of my favourite books this year. I loved the other books in this series, they're just getting better and better.

I really enjoyed this book. Robert Bryndza is a brilliant author. This is the fourth book in the series and I have read all of them. This book like the other 3 is action packed. Erika Foster is a totally believable character and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series

Well book number 4 in the Erika Foster series and dare I say it, this series just gets better and better, each one I have read, I think WOW, that was the best one yet and here I am having finished #LastBreath and yep it's WOW that one was the BEST yet!

Erika Foster is struggling in her new desk job, she has a yearning to be solving murders and bringing the perpetrators to justice; she is a crime fighter and heart and is determined to win her place back onto the Murder Investigation team. She manages to be first at the crime scene of a young woman, brutally murdered and left in a dumpster; Erika quickly finds a link to a similar case that occurred over 4 months ago - she is like a terrier and she sinks her teeth in until she is given her place on the team. The race is on to catch a brutal killer who stalks his victims online - will Erika hunt this one down or will she be too late?

#LastBreath is fast paced and a compelling read; it sucks you in and spits you out a mangled mess at the end! It has all the #KillerHooks I am looking for in a read - characters that engage me; a plot that entices while evoking a fear and a pace that escalates all the way until the very last page!

Erika Foster is one of my all time favourite female detectives; she is nobody's fool and she's not afraid to speak her mind (which never really endears her to her superiors) But peel back that ballsy layer and there is a warm and caring heart there; a bag of mixed emotions and a real passion for her job; Robert has created a character that the readers want to get to know better - they want to invest in getting to know her and we are all clamouring for the next in the series!

Her relationship with Peterson is developing and I love the way it is going, you just want things to work out for them both but at the same time you just know that life isn't going to be easy!

I'm also keen to find out more about ongoing investigations into the murky pasts of some of Erika's superiors which are hopefully going to be uncovered as the series develops

#LastBreath is very much an exploration of the dark side of social media; the inherent risks of living your life so publicly and how none of us really know who lies behind the screen of our laptops and smartphones.

I honestly could have read this book in one sitting if life hadn't got in my way. Right from the very start I was absolutely hooked! Eugh I can see the killers face in my head even as I type this, his little piggy eyes boring into me, this book wormed its way under my skin and made it crawl with its evilness! If you like Angela Marson's and Sarah Hilary then you are going to LOVE this series! Buy it now! Seriously, I mean it, go buy them all and read them NOW!

Rating: 4*

One-Sentence Summary: A serial killer is targeting young girls and Erika must stop him

Review: One of my favourite crime authors is back with the latest book in his fantastic crime series and it is everything you've come to expect from an Erika Foster novel: the detective forces herself on a case and will stop at nothing to solve it.

I love her relationships with Moss and Peterson and they were at the forefront of this novel just as much as her battles with her superior officers.

Like I've said before, the fact that most of the story takes place in familiar locations to me of South East London and Kent is a real added bonus and Bryndza's descriptions certainly make me feel like I'm right there with the characters.

Now we're four books in, I can't help but wonder when the case that killed Erika's husband is going to come back to haunt her ....

I have become an avid fan of Robert Bryndza's main character DCI Erika Foster. She's abrasive, uncompromising and relentless. Bryndza really brings his characters to life with subtle nuances. Highly recommended.

Erika doesn't always stick to the rules and when a fellow officers is given the promotion she wanted it doesn't bode well. She finds herself taking a side ways step and is off the murder investigation team. Paper work and statistical analysis is definitely not her thing and when a young girl is found murdered in a refuse bin Erica is determined to get back into the action. A brilliant book in the series, which could be a stand alone but much better read in order.
