This was a fantastic summer read. i LOVED IT and reviewed it in the Scottish magazine 17 Degrees
here is my review textFor as long as she can remember, Jemma has been planning the perfect honeymoon. Two weeks of decadent escape in the Maldives with a personal butler, plunge pool and the last word in luxury. Absolute heaven. Or it should have been… Instead, Jemma’s husband of less than a week vanishes into thin air. Her island paradise is quickly turned into her worst nightmare as Jemma searches desperately for someone to trust who can help her get him back. We immerse ourselves in Jemma’s living nightmare where tranquil seclusion is transformed into a claustrophobic trap as she races against time to find the man she thought that nothing could ever part her from. This is the perfect beach read but be careful – it’s so engrossing you might forget to reapply your sun cream.
The Honeymoon is a romantic suspense novel and a very good one at that.
Tina Seskis gets you following the life of Jenna. Who is a young woman on her Honeymoon. We follow her from now right back to seven and a half years ago.
The atmosphere through the story is very dark but also shifts to very much how normal life could be for someone.
I don't want to spoil it for those who want to read this book. But I will say that this is a really good and gripping read.
Although it took me a while to finish I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Th I s is on r of the best books that I have read so far this year.
Holy cow! How on earth do I review a book such as The Honeymoon? It is abso-blooming-lutely FREAKING AMAZING!!! I took a quick look at it one evening and ended up finishing it the next day as I was hooked as soon as the plot twisted at the end of part 1 and then completely blown away by the ending.
Jemma isn't exactly a likeable character but that is part of the beauty of the whole book. We are introduced to her as she meets her boyfriend on a blind date when her friend sets her up on an internet dating site. Almost from the moment she meets him, she is planning how and when she can break up with him. What a total b*tch! Next thing you know she is off to paradise, aka the Maldives, for her honeymoon and she is barely speaking to her husband. Trouble in paradise doesn't even come close! When her husband goes missing, it isn't long before the spotlight turns on Jemma - unable to hide their bickering and misery from other holidaymakers, they weren't your traditional newlyweds.
I was trundling along for the first quarter of the book, just getting to know the characters and wondering what direction it was going then BAM! WTF?!? Oh Ms Seskis you are one clever word mistress. So after I recovered I put on my literary running shoes and raced through the rest of the story, only briefly stopping to catch my breath after one almighty exclamation of horror. Talk about giving me goosebumps!
This is one EXCELLENT book. I literally exclaimed out loud and have difficulty writing about this book without thinking of THAT moment. I am still completely gobsmacked and I'm sure this book will be in my Top 20 of 2017. People may think this is a romantic book but they couldn't be more wrong - it ends up being the honeymoon from hell for Jemma, with part of me thinking that she perhaps got her just deserts in the end.
The Honeymoon is stomach-clenchingly brilliant, although you perhaps don't want to read it around the pool on your holiday. I really can't recommend it highly enough for psychological thriller fans who think they've seen it all - you ain't seen nothin' yet!
I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
From beginning to end I loved this book. I had my honeymoon in the Maldives so that what was attracted me to reading this book. I couldn't wait to get into bed every night and see where this book was going to take me next. The twists were amazing I did not see them coming and the end was fantastic. 5 stars all the way from me
A well written book about a husband going missing on his money moon. An excellent story with a twist at the end I did not see coming. Well worth a read !
Another beach noir. Why do all these disastrous events happen on holiday? This one has a spectacularly nutty ending...revenge is a dish best served cold.
A well written story with an ending you would never guess
I loved this book and was fascinated by the ending, I was sure I knew what was going to be the final outcome but was completely fooled!! Excellent.
Struggled to put the book down and loved the build up to the couples wedding and untimely honeymoon.
I absolutely loved this book, it only took me a few hours to read as it was unputdownable! Full of suspense, intrigue and lies. The author kept me guessing right up until the end. One for Summer reading, for sure!
This book was not what I was expecting at all!! Not the love and romance of a honeymoon, but all about how appearances can be deceptive. I really enjoyed this book and not my usual read. Although I do think the ending was rushed and done with in a couplke of chapters.
Thank you for this advance copy in return for my independent honest review. I rated it 4* and my review will be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and my book tube account
Kind Regards

The blurb:
For as long as she can remember, Jemma has been planning the perfect honeymoon. A fortnight's retreat to a five-star resort in the Maldives, complete with luxury villas, personal butlers and absolute privacy. It should be paradise, but it's turned into a nightmare.
Because the man Jemma married a week ago has just disappeared from the island without a trace. And now her perfect new life is vanishing just as quickly before her eyes. After everything they've been through together, how can this be happening? Is there anyone on the island who Jemma can trust? And above all - where has her husband gone?
Although this book is well written I didn't really enjoy it very much. I couldn't connect with any of the characters (especially Jemma). The other characters just seemed to be bit players and just to fill space.
I was very shocked and horrified in the last bit of the book - it made me feel so sick; and I definitely didn't see it coming. 3.5*
I absolutely love a good thriller and The Honeymoon ticked most of the boxes for me with what I look for. The storyline was good and interesting for the most part, but I have to say the ending was a disappointment for me. I think there could have been a much more satisfying conclusion to the disappearance of one of the main characters, instead I feel cannibalism was completely inappropriate. Disappointing ending!
The Honeymoon by Tina Seskis. My 10th book of 2017. This book is an easy read and for the first part takes you between background to the honeymoon and the time on the honeymoon after the husband has disappeared. The voices between these two parts were a little confusing being Jemma's in the Maldives and third person in the build up. Jemma came across as a real messed up character, and a bit of a bitch. Her neurotic ways and mood swings really made for the foundation of this story. The story meanders through to its climax where we find out what happened to the missing husband and to be honest I felt the ending was weak and a bit abrupt, not to mention a little disappointing. All in all it was a decent book. I would rate 3.5/5
Brilliant! One of my top books of 2017! Couldn't put it down! Have recommended to everyone I know!
Jemma is in the Maldives on honeymoon with her new husband Jamie. However it's not quite wedded bliss and then the unthinkable happens, Jamie disappears.
This book really was fun to read. I quite enjoyed the story and was drawn into it instantly. The story is about Jemma whoose a very troubled individual who really doesn't know what she wants. The story flips back and forth, before the wedding, during the honeymoon and after.
I really wanted to see what was going on and the why's and why nots. The story then takes an unexpected turn of events and I'm thinking 'really'. It really did take some digesting.
A really fun read, maybe not on your honeymoon though with a surprise ending.
Thank you to the publisher via Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review the book.
While this book has a great story that will keep you reading, the characters will leave you just wanting the story to be over.
I did enjoy the story, the trip and the idea of the story. However, the characters, especially the lead female just had no redeeming qualities. I am far from devoid of emotion, but I couldn't feel anything for those involved in this mystery.
While the story is well written and enjoyable, it is not as riveting as I expected. Perhaps with a recasting the story would hold more sway, but as it stands I just wanted it to be over. Like the female and male lead the vacation and setting felt very superficial.
The ending, without giving anything away, came out of nowhere and felt very disjointed from the story that was been told. Though it was certainly an interesting twist to a romance mystery story.
Grab this book for your night stand and enjoy a few chapters each night. Or take it on vacation, but keep an eye on your vacation partners.
Really enjoyable read. Can imagine reading this on a white sandy beach! I didn't really know how to describe this book, but I think I'll go with mystery. The story follows Jemma's love life through the past and present with dramatic consequences.
I really enjoyed this book the twists were good in the beginning and I loved the flashes back in time and to the present but I kinda guessed what was going to happen it didn't give me that excitement which I thought it was going to it just wasn't gripping enough for me but a great book x
