"The Angel" is a gripping read with intriguing twists and turns. Grey and Miles, the detectives, investigate an arson attack and a brutal murder, both cases with unexpected connections. The multiple points of view are handled well, and the links between narratives grow stronger as the story unfolds. The novel is well-paced, making it easy to follow despite the complexity.

I appreciated the mix of professional and emotional aspects, which made the characters feel authentic. Tom's pursuit of a dangerous criminal and his new relationship, and Imogen's struggle with her role as a police officer while being in a relationship with a convicted killer, add depth to the story.

The plot is cleverly woven, though the simultaneous personal challenges for both protagonists may feel a bit much. Nevertheless, the book keeps you engaged, and the ending is satisfying, albeit ironical.

Overall, "The Angel" offers a tense and interesting read, with well-developed characters and a cleverly intertwined plot.

The angel by Katerina Diamond.
When a burned body is found in a disused signal box, suspicion falls on lonely teenager Gabriel Webb. There’s no doubt he was at the scene of the crime, but does he really deserve what awaits him in prison?
I really enjoyed this book. Great story and characters. 4*.

I’ve loved Katarina’s books from the beginning and I truly think they’re getting better and better.
The characters are captivating and the storylines addictive. I would treat yourself to the whole series but be warned that you won’t get anything else done once you start reading them! Highly recommended!

Started but did it finish because the characters got confusing and the writing was so flat. Did not like this book.

The length of time it took me to read this book is nothing against the story or the author. Once I finally decided to really read it, I couldnt put it down. I love both Grey and Miles and their relationship. The story was constantly engaging with twists and turns all over the place. Roll on book 4.

Another fantastic novel from Katerina Diamond. I loved both 'The Teacher' and 'The Secret', and 'The Angel' definitely lived up to my high expectations. This third novel focusing on DS Imogen Grey and her partner DS Adrian Miles continues to develop characters that I have become very easily invested in. I know I will be gripped from first page to last with Diamond's stories and I cannot wait for the publication of 'The Promise'!

I really enjoyed The Angel and although the story line is hard hitting and at times uncomfortable, it is a fantastic read and one which is going to start conversations on a topic which can, in everyday life, be easily swept under the carpet.

Thank you to Avon and Katerina for inviting me to take part in this blog tour.

I read this book, The Angel and The Promise directly after another, because firstly I couldn't get enough of Katerina Diamond's books and secondly because I just love Imogen!
The books are very well written, gripping, and honestly I forsake all others (also known as the family and the dogs) because I just had to finish both books. I read a lot of books per year, and honestly have gotten a bit blase about the "psychological thriller" genre, but this really was worth the title.
Both books are brilliant, and please do yourself the favor and just read them!
Highly recommended.

Avon Books and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Angel. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

DS Imogen Grey and her partner DS Adrian Miles are handed the case of a suspicious building fire, with a horrifically burned body inside. Gabriel Webb is identified early on, but he refuses to name his co-conspirators. Incarcerated until trial, will Webb be able to navigate the dangerous halls of the prison? When Imogen begins to realize that they may have gotten the wrong man, will she and her partner be able to determine the true perpetrator?

As both Imogen and Adrian attempt to keep their messy private lives from affecting their work, it becomes clear that a spotlight could be shone on both of them. This aspect of the plot feels almost forced, like the author wanted to be able to tie in the main characters to the overall case. Although the second half of the book was more interesting than the beginning, it was not enough to elevate The Angel for me from a good book to a great one. Having read the previous books by author Katerina Diamond that feature these main characters, I thought that this one was the weakest by far. I would be hesitant to recommend The Angel for these reasons.

Katerina’s gripping thriller ‘The Teacher’ introduced me to the genre and after hurtling through The Secret I had been looking forward to her third book, The Angel, for months! She has a unique and refreshing tone that keeps you buried in her novels; she really is the Queen of Grip-lit!
I particularly enjoyed that DS Imogen Grey’s background is explored further, the characters are so well realised and memorable that even with the gaps in time between reading the other novels the familiarity and solidarity towards the Inspectors; Grey and Miles, remained strong. Whilst The Angel is thoroughly worthy of enjoying as a stand alone I implore you to read the first two books in the series first, you will not regret it!
The characters don’t adhere to the stereotypes placed on them and this adds a depth and humanity that is incredibly emotive and has your heart racing. The investigation revolves around a body being found in a burnt out building and a teenage boy being wrongly imprisoned. Gabriel‘s character is unique and the reader can sympathise with his mental torment, and as we are invited to see the world through his eyes we really experience his evolution over the novel. Katerina’s supporting characters are as equally well written and morally grey, I feel this is what makes each story feel so real.
Diamond definitely isn’t afraid to send the reader reeling back and forth as the dark twists pull you in. The plot is bold and unapologetic and a total five-star read!

Unputdownable, thrilling and fantastic read for anyone who enjoys crime fiction. I need to read the previous 2 novels now.

I thought it was a bit dull compared to her last 2. Nothing gripped me in to keep reading.

Gabriel, a teenage goth gets mixed up in a gruesome murder but all is not as it seems.
Great twists and turns throughout.
Have a read you will not be disappointed.

I have Diamond's first two books in paperback, and have not had chance to read them yet, but believe me, I will find the time. This book, The Angel, really hit the spot for me. Fantastic writing, excellent character twist and turns, and a heavy dollop of gore. Perfect. I can't wait to read the first two books, although not having read them in no way detracted from the story or my enjoyment.

Gabriel Webb knows he is different, his parents have washed their hands of him. But as long as he has his girlfriend he knows he will be fine.
But unfortunately for Gabriel it's about being at the wrong place at the wrong time....
A body of a burned man is found and the suspicion falls on him.
Imogen Grey is fronting the case and she has her doubts that he is the killer.
Then another two unconnected murders are found and Grey and Adrian Miles must start to put the pieces together to solve the puzzle.
And is Gabriel really innocent...
This series just gets better and better, the prologue had me totally open mouthed and each chapter I was .... speechless
It was tense, exciting and the writing was excellent.
As the final pieces come together I couldn't turn the pages quick enough.
Although this could be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the other 2 in the series.
The Teacher
The Secret
Although I came in on The Secret book 2.
This is one of my favourites for 2017 for sure.
