Really enjoyable read. Good characters and a Good story. Well worth a read. Think others will enjoy.

Perfect chick lit! I loved the premise and the characters were well developed! I recommend this for anyone looking for a light and fun read!

I've been a fan of Lily Bartlett/Michele Gorman for years, and really loved the Carlton Square series, so was delighted to find out about The Big Dreams Beach Hotel. This is a wonderful, feel-good, heartwarming summer read packed with great characters.

I am so sorry, my old kindle broke and I lost all of my old books before getting the chance to read this title, that is why I have not been reviewing for some time xx

This entertaining story was an easy read. It had great, lovable, hilarious characters and a heart warming story. I wish I could visit this hotel!

What happens when your steady and predictable job is thrown off course by flashy supervisors with sex appeal, less than straightforward romantic relationships, friendship's ties and bonds, promises and a struggle to keep them, and Boca decor, complete with flamingos in a formerly staid hotel lobby?
This book. A book that will keep you turning pages. I loved this book and have filed it in the company of Bridget Jones Diary.

Haven’t read any by Lilly before but was a little unsure at beginning but carried on and reallybgot into it I shall be looking at her other books now

A really good book. Nice for a cozy afternoon read. Rose, who manages a hotel Scarbourgh hotel finds herself trying to save the hotels permanent residences after it is bought by an American company. She falls for the guy they send to renovate the hotel and they make a plan to save the residents. Good read.

This is a lovely modern romance about a run down hotel in Scarborough, which is under new ownership. The transformation is going to be spectacular but are the long term residents and Rosie, the manager, ready for such changes? Transition Manager Rory hopes he can handle any problems and calm everyone down!

An enjoyable read. I found myslef warming to the chracters as the story went on, i didn't get into it immediately but by the end I was wanting to know how it was all going to turn out. I thought the chracters were excellent and provided a wide variety of interest in the story.

A well-written story, which cleverly combines two story timelines. There is a cast of quirky characters, some of which reminded me of 'Fawlty Towers', except this faded hotel is in Scarborough rather than Torquay.
England's northern coastline is particularly popular with writers at the present. It is an area I holidayed in as a child and when I was first married, so it was a pleasant walk down memory lane.
There is plenty of detail in this story, which makes it an absorbing read but I did find it a little slow paced in places, but the characters carried it along and made it an okay read.
Perfect for short bursts of reading, it allows you to escape life for a little while, what more can I say?
I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A lovely light read with realistic characters that you love/hate at the same time,

Gorgeous cover. Fell in love with it and was pleased to say it lived up to everything i expected it to be. Lovely feel good and quirky read. Perfect read for over the holidays or if you just want to escape normal life. you will be swallowed up by this fantastic read

Rosie MacDonald has run home to Scarborough from New York when she now manages a fading hotel with a host of eccentric residents. Unfortunately she discovers that it has been bought by a US company and is due a tacky makeover. She does her best to resist all the changes and protect the residents which puts her at loggerheads with Rory Thomas, the transition manager. This was an enjoyable and unpredictable read with quirky characters.

When Rosie finds that she has to leave her dream job in New York....obviously a man involved!.......she returns to her home town of Scarborough and finds herself managing an old run down hotel with a load of eccentric permanent guests, the busiest times are when locals hold events there that make no money.
When the owner the old colonel decides to sell the hotel to an American company they are all horrified, especially as the new owners obviously don't want the old clientele there, and their upgrades certainly do not fit in with the style of the genteel old hotel!
When Rory arrives to oversee all of the changes Rosie is determined to fight him but he is always so reasonable it makes it difficult.......and he is definitely cute! Can she look after all of her friends and keep their home intact for them?
A lovely book with some great characters.....including the two American owners........light hearted and lots of fun a great summer read

"The Big Dreams Beach Hotel" is Lilly Bartlett's completely new stand - alone novel. Really, she writes so quickly that I am loosing my bearings, however even with the quantity the books don't lose their quality, so no matter how many, dear Lilly, keep them coming. This novel introduces us to a group of eccentric, eclectic and totally hilarious characters, showing the real meaning of friendship and real priorities.
The eccentric characters include a narcoleptic children's entertainer with a basset hound, one 60s singer still trying to make it big, an ex - army chef who has to switch from his comfort food into creating froth out of thin air and 6 - gangs - menu, a surfer or a man with coloured hair trying to bring flamingos and pink from sunny America to rainy Scarborough. Brilliant, no?
At the beginning, it took me some time to get into this book - no particular reason, just because. Maybe because the switches between Rosie being in New York and then suddenly managing a hotel in the rural England took me a little by surprise and I wasn't sure on which part is the story going to concentrate. Here we get to know about Rosie's budding and promising affair and heart - break and I must admit, guys, that the more we got to know her, the more I liked her, especially her banter, absolutely humorous observations and big heart.
I loved the interaction between Rosie and Rory (Rory was great, and he so easily and quickly just slotted into the story, the pages and among the characters. He was supportive and considerate, and he knew what's important) - their banter was brilliant, full of honesty, real emotions and it just sounded so real and genuine. I so adored the fact that those two just spoke with each other, they discussed their issues not jumping to conclusion or getting offended, waiting for the other to guess what's bothering them - it was so mature, so genuine, so different and such a breath of fresh air after all this running away and misunderstandings in so many books.
"The Big Dreams Beach Hotel" was a novel full of clashing cultures, ideas, characters, and sometimes they all sounded too exaggerated but somehow it just did work. It is not only a story about managing a hotel but it also introduces are to stories of Rosie and the residents of the hotel. I loved the idea of this hotel - the old one, I mean, where everybody was like family to each other, they knew each other inside out, took part in the events run for the people and not for profit. However, this all is about to change, as The Colonel announces the hotel is sold, and the new owners are even more eccentric than the hotel's residents and communicate mostly via Skype, sitting cross - legged on their desks. Phew.
I really don't know how to put it into words, but this book was so lightly written, so easy to read, the banter and the ridiculous ideas made you laugh with disbelief but in a good way and this overdoing, this ridiculousness and exaggeration just worked perfectly in this story. It was a lovely, quirky and sharp novel with the right amount of sadness, important issues that will touch your heart, and humour. It was not too overdone, too over - heavy, I hope you know what I mean. Altogether, it was a lovely, warm story about friendship, setting your priorities right, not being afraid of dreaming big, about standing together in difficult times and not giving up, full of giggles and full of embarrassing moments - a perfect summer read. Recommended!

This is a funny abs warm read and has you wanting to read more I couldn't put it down. Such an easy read Rosie ditched her job three years ago and didn't dream she would be managing the Victorian hotel In her seaside home town. The new owners are making it a copy of their Florida property and Rosie needs to enforce change and it's not what change he wants can she managevit and kickstart her career again. She follows her dreams but does it all work out for the best a well written book and so warm and funny.

Loved it. Rosie is a down to earth Yorkshire lass and features in the intertwining timelines in this story. As we jump backwards and forwards in time we realise how her past has shaped Rosie and how that in turn will shape her future
This book has humour, warmth, sarcasm, friendship and a great mix a different characters, read it!

This is the first Lilly Bartlett book that I have read and I really enjoyed it. I did find the first couple of chapter confusing as it jumped to a different time in Rosie’s life, but once I understood what was going on it was an easy read.
I liked that it was set in an English town with faded seaside glamour, and the collection of characters was varied and interesting. The story focuses on the hotel in Scarborough where Rosie works. When it is taken over by American owners, Rory is bought in to ‘change manage’ the refurbishments. Rosie and Rory fall in love, but Rosie finds it hard to commit – and this is when the back story is told in intervening chapters.
Overall an enjoyable read and perfect for holidays!

One of the best things about this book is the brilliant variety of characters who by the end pretty much felt like friends to me. They really are all wonderful in their own fun and quirky ways. Just like one big family all looking out for each other and they all had their dreams that they were trying to make a reality.
Rosie has tried to go out and fulfill her dreams unfortunately it didn't really work out for her. So she decided to come home and start again but she is still living and working in Scarborough three years later. I really enjoyed how Lilly Bartlett slowly gave us the details regarding how Rosie's life in New York went wrong. It worked well giving us the alternating timeline alongside the present situation at the hotel. I liked how determined Rosie is and her clashes with Rory were fun to see play out. Rory is a great character and I had to feel sorry for him as he tries to keep everyone happy but still continue do his job as Transitions Manager.
The two brothers who buy the hotel are very flamboyant and I couldn't help but smile at some of the ideas they think will work and then try to implement at the hotel. The havoc that is caused by the takeover is both unwelcome and is over the top. I really felt for the characters as they tried to navigate their way through the changes especially Rosie and Rory who are stuck right in the middle.
It really is a heartwarming story that is wonderfully exuberant and has some lovely feel good vibes that are perfect to get us through our rather rainy summer.
The Big Dreams Beach Hotel has delightful friendships, witty writing and a sweet romance that is guaranteed to entertain.
With thanks to Michele Gorman and Harper Impulse for the invite to join the tour and for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
