This book was archived before I was able to review it. The blurb does sound interesting. I would be willing to read the author in the future.

Mary ached, she felt an endless cycle of unfulfilled lust. Pain that went on and on. Mary was thinking about Jack while sitting at the pond and he caught her there. All this unrequited lust was killing Mary. Jack didn’t have a clue. Odd how Mary could be so afraid of men but never Jack. At least Mary’s turmoil calmed when Jack was near her. For whatever reason his being there calmed her more intimate neediness and Mary felt safe. Mary’s good friends was Janine. According to Mary’s father she was ruined for any man and her parents had disowned her even if she had been kidnapped and forced to be a sez slave and prostitute. Even if Mary’s father was wrong would she ever be able to relax, ever learn to enjoy simple touches much less sex. Mary wanted to deny at twenty two years old she was used up. Her only experience with sex was as a whore with men who treated her like garbage. Jack was wanted by every single woman around, Mary knew Jack was kind and gentle and he honestly cared about his seven- nine year old students that he taught. Jack had sex with about everyone around headquarters that was single but that was the Chanku way. Jack had slept with just about everyone Mary knew but not her. Mary treasured Jack’s friendship - Jack was her best friend - a guy she could talk to, to ask questions, to laugh with but Mary wanted a lot more with Jack. Mary wanted to see if Jack could make the aching loneliness, the overwhelming need go away, teach her sex wasn’t something forced on a woman and could even be enjoyable. Jack held out his hand to Mary to walk her back to the cabin. Mary hesitated at first and that hurt Jack that she didn’t trust him but then he realized that was ingrained in Mary after her horrible experiences as a sex slave. Ari and his brother Reko were at Yellowstone they were both berserkers- wolf shifter who would finally shift into a wolf after consuming a certain nutrient. Ari and Reko’s sister would have been so curious about everything but she had been killed by a rabid wolf. Ari and Reko now only had each other. Like their father Ari blamed every bad thing that happened on the Goddess. Reko however preferred to believe as their mother had that they had stopped honoring the Goddess long ago and she couldn’t find them, Jack’s friends Jace and Gabe were now mated and were more mature now. Gabe and his mate Em had been the ones to free Mary and the other girls from the sex traffickers. Mary and three other girls had turned out to ne Chanku and had joined their pack. Mary haunted Jack but in a good way. Jack felt Mary was too good for him but they had become friends. Jack had been drawn to Mary the first day. Jack wanted to show Mary not all men were evil. Because of what she had been through Jack didn’t let Mary know how much he wanted her. But then Mary asked Jack how to come on to him to get it right . then they had a long kiss and then headed to Jack’s cabin then they found out they were mates and became a mated pair. There is a demon named Aldo that Jack’s pack must fight. It will take the entire Chanku pack united to use their power against this demon and win.
I really loved this book. I loved the action. I loved the fast pace and plot of this book. I also felt the story was well written. I do however advise you to read the other four books in this series in order first before this one as it brings everything together with o confusion. I love how it showed Mary’s growth with Jack beside her. There wa a lot of sex in this book but it was the Chanka’s nature si easier to handle. I did smile at times while reading this and choked up at times also. I loved Mary and Jack together. I loved how Jack made sure he didn’t scare Mary and held back all his he wanted of her. I loved how the all interacted with each other. I loved how close Ari and Reko were. I loved everything about this book and found nothing to complain about. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.

Good story and well written but I'll be honest and say that not reading the previous books in the series hampered my connection. I would highly recommend reading this series in order. I'm usually good when I jump into a series, but it was obvious this one was continuing from where the last book stopped. There are a lot characters and more than one story line going on. Not having that background put me at a disadvantage. I'll definitely need to go back to the beginning and read this again after. I think I will appreciate the story and characters more. Kate Douglas is an excellent writer. Her novels are always entertaining and she writes great characters. This one is a little hard to read because their are so many other characters involved with the assumption that readers have read every other story and know what they're talking about. Basically, this is NOT a stand-alone novel. I got lost a lot but tried to stick with the main characters story in order to counter that.

Fast-paced shifter read with lots of drama and suspense. I would recommend reading the series in order. Mary and Jack are amazing characters I love how their connection grew. The story really draws you in and I couldn’t put it down. An entertaining read.

This is not my typical read but found the author did a good job for the type of book it was. It was a little more erotica than I'm used to. I did enjoy the story due to it being about shifters and they helped 2 wolves that they found that had never shifted from wolf to human before and enjoyed how they helped them transition. It also had a bit of a story with a demon involved which isn't something I normally read about either. I would tell anyone that enjoys books with demons and lots of sex including same sex would enjoy this book.

Well Hello There Ms. Kate Douglas

So sometime I jump into the middle of a series and see if I can follow it and if it grabs me by the heartstrings...
This grabbed me and pulled me under. Hello Chanku and uber alpha Aton. He has been gathering the remaining Chanku into the pack and in the process heading off some majorly bad guys.

I was really engaged in the suspense portion of the book. I thought it interesting to include 3 types of apocalyptic theories and incorporate them together, Demons, Nuclear weapon, and Yellowstone caldera. I also liked that it focused on each person who helped resolve the issue. I know there is a lot of background that I missed by jumping in the middle but I still didn't feel clueless or unable to follow along. I like that and to me that is the strength of a good writer.

Mary and Jack are the primary focus of this book as mates forming a connection. Ari and Reko are two Berserkers, two sentient wolves who will be able to shape shift after consuming a certain nutrient. I loved seeing Mary grow in her time with Jack, even in a few days. I especially loved the twist on their mating.

Reko and Ari took their time getting not furry but oohlala it was worth the wait. YUM!!! I am hoping there is more about them in coming books. I'm hoping to see more of them soon. I think they will bplay a very valuable part to the Chanku pack.

I was hoping for more of a concrete resolution to The mating, but I'm guessing we will see more in the next book. which I'm hoping is soon...like tomorrow soon.

I wasn't sure I how some aspects would work, but Ms. Douglas was excellent at revealing love in its truest form. Not only love of partners, but brothers, friends, pack mates and parent-children relationships.

I know 2 Stars looks bad - but as the ranking means - it was okay.

I hadn't read the previous books in the series and feel that it gave me a huge disservice. I think this is what just made it okay to me. The world seems like it would be a really different take on wolf shifters and I am very intrigued by it. You were thrust into it and I found it kind of confusing to try and keep up with how it worked.

Lots of characters were in this book and I think to read the previous books would help to keep it from being overwhelming.

Mary and Jack were a fun couple to watch them realize they were a mated pair. Reko was also an excellent character that was introduced after they were mated. Overall - the Chanku world and lifestyle is a different type of PNR and was very refreshing that way.

I will probably go back to read the series from the beginning and hopefully that will help to improve my appreciation for Dark Terror.

No one does it like Kate Douglas! Reading her latest in the Spirit Wild series is like catching up with old friends and meeting new ones!

I first became acquainted with her Wolf Tales series a number of years ago and, just like those, Dark Terror is another great story in her (latest) Spirit Wild series. This series builds on the original one with the stories extending from the Chanku Pack led by Anton and Keisha, the alpha and matriarch. However, now we are additionally seeing the children of the Wolf Tales members as adults!

Although you don't need to read the four prior books in the series to enjoy Dark Terror, this one ties up loose ends (involving the pack's enemy, Aldo Xanakis) and gives the reader glimpses of other pack members we've met in prior books.

This is Jack and Mary's story. Jack is the son of a Chanku couple we met in a Wolf Tales book. Mary was recently rescued from a human trafficking sex ring. Jack has been very patient and kind in helping Mary recover from her trauma. Now Mary is ready to take things further with Jack. Watching this unfold is beautifully romantic and touching!

In the meantime, we meet Reko and Ari, two brothers who have never shifted from wolf to human. They become an integral part of the story, as well. And then, of course, the demon Aldo must be fought. It will take the entire Chanku pack united to use their power against him!

ALL of the Spirit Wild Series are outstanding! You will want to go back and read those (and Wolf Tales if you haven't) after reading this one!

Thank you NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for providing me with an advanced reader's copy for an honest review.

Mary Ryder was rescued by the Chanku from a human trafficking ring . She is lovingly welcome into a new family where she is slowly allowing herself to open up to new feelings. Jack Temple is helping her to open to those new feelings. The Chanku welcomed twin wolf brothers which will bring back the evil of Aldo. The Chanku will join all their powers together to fight the evil that threatens them.
