I really enjoyed this modern, fictional story. I just had to keep reading to the end, even though I didn't particularly like the characters. Helen and Sam seem to have the perfect marriage. Helen gave up work to raise Sam's two small daughters, their mother having died suddenly. One normal day Helen vanishes, she doesn't take any clothes or personal possessions not even her even her handbag. She can't be found. We start off the story feeling sorry for Sam, then more details of the relationship emerge and we begin to understand why Helen would do as she did! Read on!
Intriguing book with a good story, wanted to keep going to know why Helen left, but thought there was something missing from the story/narration.
I also think this book could do with a stronger title
3.5*
My resounding memory from this book - as I was describing it to my other half, the response was "don't worry, I wouldn't come after you if you walked out"... bl**dy cheek!!
Loved this book!! Loved reading the story unravel and finding out about the characters! It was a gripping read and I enjoyed it thoroughly !
Excellent book. Great main characters and plot. I would recommend this book.
Sam and Helen are happily married, they have two daughters, Miranda and Marguerite who Helen does everything for until one day Helen closes her front door and walks out of their lives.
Sam calls in the police, contacts everyone he knows in his pursuit of finding out where Helen might have gone until the police tell him Helen is fine she just does not want to be found.
Lara is a single mum with two children who helps Sam with his girls, eventually they fall into a relationship together, but everything is not as a relationship should be.
The story is told mainly from Sam’s perspective, with Lara and Miranda adding their voices to the story throughout and Helen’s view towards the end. It was strange seeing how Sam viewed himself compared to how Helen viewed him and his actions towards her. The story was interesting, especially being able to see how one person can convince themselves that they are perfect, when everyone around them can see the truth.
