Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin is a good fit for those seeking a heartwarming and romantic tale of self-discovery, friendship, and love, set against the cozy backdrop of the festive season.
This was such a perfect, cosy read, I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to read more books by this author.
I’m so mad at myself that it took me so long to pick this up!! I was gifted it back in 2017 on netgalley and then Christmas passed and I didn’t get round to it.
Oh my god, how I regret that now! I need more from poppy- please tell me there’s more!!
Such a beautiful uplifting story with all the right sentiments!
The perfect Christmas book! 🥰🥰
3.5
"Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin" had me totally mesmerized by its cosy and beautiful cover. The blurb got me interested as well and I was looking forward to the book.
I got easily into the story and I really liked the characters, except Harrison, the boyfriend of the main character Poppy. He was totally getting on my nerves and I couldn't understand what Poppy saw in him.
I was looking forward to the setting in and around the Log Fire Cabin. It was really nice and cosy as well but I have to say I expected a little bit more. More romance, more cosiness and more Christmas.
The story was enjoyable and it was a cute festive read which could have had a bit more romance and Christmas.
It may only be October but the Christmas books are coming through thick and fast and I am really enjoying featuring them on my blog. Today I am pleased to welcome Catherine Ferguson to my blog with her 2017 festive title, Christmas at the Log Cabin. As the name suggests this is a truly festive white Christmas read and I would love to escape to the cabin this Christmas!
I loved this story - it was romantic, sweet and Christmassy all rolled in to one! I thought Poppy was brave to leave her job after being passed over for a promotion and it was easy to see how her relationship was going to pan out from the beginning! I loved the dinner party idea and thought the story was brilliant - especially the difficult sideline of her mother and hoarding habits. I really enjoyed this and will be keeping an eye out for another Catherine Ferguson story!
Review: If you want an easy-going and typical Christmas romance then this is for you. It is a great read and I enjoyed it. The writing is good but the ending is typical but that doesn't take any thing away from this being a great book. Once the decorations are up and you can relax at Christmas this is one you can get cosy with and lose yourselves in the story.
Festive, cozy, Christmas book. This book was a bit slow at times and the story seemed to drag. Otherwise, it was a nice read. The cover, however, was top notch!
Poppy's boyfriend proposes the week before Christmas, but she doesn't know what to do. She has twelve days to make up her mind as her boyfriend goes to Spain to visit his mom. Poppy works as a waitress in a hotel, but she's an excellent cook, and when an opportunity arises to cook for people at a luxurious log fire cabin, she accepts the offer with her friend's persuasion. With a great work opportunity comes a handsome lodge owner and Poppy has a serious decision to make. Will she choose to marry her boyfriend or the handsome owner?
I really enjoyed this Christmassy book, it gave me a proper festive feeling. I adored the characters and loved the setting and the story itself, I didn't want the book to end! It's an incredible feel good story and I'd definitely recommend it.
What a perfect book to cuddle up with as the snow swirls outside and the twinkle lights decorating the house shine!
I really enjoyed this book about relationships, family, finding your passion and courage, and celebrating the holiday season. The family and friendship relationships all felt real, and though the ending is full of happiness, the book wasn't overly sweet.
Thank you for allowing me to read and review this book. I am just not interested in this book anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I just loved this book, I was hooked from the first few pages.
A cozy wintery book that is very moreish.
We meet Poppy a waitress at a local hotel who dreams of setting up her own catering company. A chance telephone call to a wrong number gives her the chance to follow her dream.
Will she make a go of it or will she fall at the many hurdles that come her way?
Have a read you will not be disappointed.
Poppy has always dreamed of starting her own catering company and marrying her boyfriend Harrison. Life is starting to finally go her way when her boyfriend asks her to marry her..if they can take a three week cool off period to make sure it’s what they both want.
Honestly this book was boring. I had to go back and read the cover so I could write the review. It was an enjoyable read throughout but nothing sticks out and the book is predictable. Maybe I have been reading a lot of Christmas books so I need a great one to fall in love with but I’d skip this book and get in the holiday spirit with something else.
I can sum up this book in one sentence - Christmas is coming!
Poppy is working as a waitress and has just been passed over for a promotion to restaurant manager when her boyfriend proposes, he is just off to spend Christmas with his mother in Spain so she had 12 days to decide.... surely she should be excited and over the moon so why isn't she.
Poppy's dream has always been to set up her own catering business with her best friend as she loves cooking... so when by pure chance she gets offered the job of catering in the log fire cabin for Jed they jump at the chance..... and he is rather sexy!
A lovely feel good book perfect for curling up and reading on a cold winter's day. I have loved all of the books by this writer and this one doesn't disappoint
By looking at the cover for this book you just know it is going to be a real cosy winter read. It is just so inviting and really makes you want to pick the book up and read it and that is exactly what I did!
I just adored this book, the character Poppy was really easy to connect with and I really enjoyed her story. She has a lot going on, and we see her face tough decisions, you just really want it all to work out for her. Its clear from the start of the book that she is a talented cook so when she gets the chance to fulfill her dream you just feel so happy for her.
Its so lovely to see a wonderful friendship in a book, Poppy and Erin are so close and support each other every step of the way, and I really liked how Erin is steps in and helps Poppy with the Catering.
Poppy's relationship with Harrison is hard to judge at the start, you feel like something is not quite right with him then he proposes and its all happiness. Then he goes to his mother's for christmas and everytime Poppy rings him he doesn't seem to want to know or care really, even when big things happen that Poppy wants to share with him and when she needs his support he doesn't give her any.
I loved seeing Poppy's relationship bloom with her mother and how close they become. It really put a smile on my face.
The menu's that Poppy had prepared for each day, well they made my mouth water, they just sounded absolutely delicious!
This book is incredibly festive and romantic, and really gets you excited for christmas.
The Blurb :
When Poppy’s boyfriend Harrison proposes the week before Christmas and gives her twelve days to decide, she doesn’t know what to do. With the festive season in full swing, it’s make or break time for the couple and the clock is ticking…
Meanwhile, Poppy’s best friend Erin is desperate for the pair of them to fulfil their dream of setting up a dinner party catering company – and when an opportunity arises at a luxury log fire cabin, the girls take their chance to impress. But they hadn’t bargained on the owner of the cabin being quite so attractive – or having quite such a sexy voice.
As the twelve days tick on, will Poppy realise that Harrison is the one for her? Or will it be love in the lodge when the new year comes?
My Thoughts :
I just adore this cover, its so warming and Christmasy. It just shouts read me!.
We meet Poppy who works in a hotel as a waitress and hopes she will get the recent advertised promotion to restaurant manager. But it seems she has been overlooked. And when a wrong number phone call gives her an oppertunity to follow her dream and make more of herself she is offered the job of catering for Jed and his family over the Christmas period in a beautiful log fire cabin. Which she excepts along with best friend Taylor.
When Poppy’s boyfriend Harrison proposes she has second thoughts about saying yes and isnt sure shes ready for this leap. while Harrison goes to Spain to see his mum for Christmas they decide to have 12 day cooling off period, as this gives Poppy time to really think about what she really wants. As always in a festive book there has to be some romance and this comes in the form of Poppy realising she has feelings for Jed but does he feel the same?.
This is one festive read to put on your list, full of yummy food, family and laughs along the way its certainly one you must read in the festive season. Great effort from Catherine Ferguson once again.
This book has such a Christmassy feel that I wanted it to be December already. Snow, wonderful food, and a lovely bloke were complimented by a mother with some mental health issues, a woman with ego issues, and a boyfriend with interest issues.
The whole thing was like a box of chocolates with assorted centres - something for every chick lit / romance lover.
I loved this book! The book has a great plot, characters and setting. Love books with a Christmas theme. If you enjoy a good romance this book just might be what you are looking for.
This book was slow at times. At times, the main character got on my nerves a bit. But I stayed with the book. It was cute and had several interesting story lines.
