Perfectly heart-warming and a must read this summer. Left me with a warm glow! Thoroughy enjoyable and highly recommended

Having reviewed Summer at Skylark Farm earlier this week which was one of my oldest review books on my Kindle I decided that it was about time that I read and reviewed the next Heidi Swain book that was on my NetGalley shelf Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage.

When we first meet Charlotte (Lottie) she is on her way to Wynbridge for the funeral of her family friend Gwen, her grandmother's best friend, who has been part of her life forever. Lottie feels totally lost and alone as Gwen was the last person in her life she called 'family' and she feels guilty for not having seen her in recent times as she'd been struggling since she lost her grandmother and Gwen was a reminder of her. But she's sure in for a surprise when Gwen's solicitor David catches up with her...

Lottie discovers that Gwen has left everything to her including Cuckoo Cottage and the land that comes with it. She's completely overwhelmed and doesn't know what to think but knows that this is the perfectly opportunity to reassess where her life is heading rather than drift along as she has done in recent years. However, as she soon discovers, although the cottage has fond childhood memories for her, living there in reality is not so picture perfect and her eye-opening meeting with Will due to a shower and subsequent power cut leaves Lottie more than a little embarrassed.

No sooner has she meet Will, the handsome vet who was bringing back Gwen's dog Minnie which was another surprise for her, then she has another man at her door, this time local builder Matt who was offering his services to continue the work he was doing for Gwen which again was news to Lottie. I loved the instant sparks between Lottie and Will even if they did get off on the wrong foot and their next encounter doesn't exactly leave a good impression of him for Lottie either. As for Matt, if it seems too good to be true then it probably is and maybe Lottie should take note of Minnie's reaction, or should that be aversion, to him and keep a close eye on him.

Once again old friends make their presence known as Lottie slowly finds her feet in the community and soon discovers a few surprises in her barn that makes her realise that Gwen had a trick or two up her sleeve for Lottie. But can she make her dreams a reality or is it all really a pipedream? Her new friends, Jemma and Lizzie from The Cherry Tree Cafe, Amber and Jake from Skylark Farm, along with a few other locals that we meet, encourage her but it seems that there's a few other locals who will do everything in their power to sabotage and discourage Lottie to try and force her out.

Heidi Swain has done it again, written a feel-good story that that not only has a picture perfect setting as well as a gorgeous cover but also features a wonderful cast of characters, an interesting business idea as well a little intrigue and romance to boot. Now I just need to catch up with the rest of the books in the series as I have a few more of them waiting for me on my Kindle.

In Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage we meet Lottie as she inherits a cottage from her grandmother’s best friend, Gwen. This is a new beginning for Lottie and she has plans to set up her own business. Will everything go to plan though?

I have to admit when I first picked up Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage I didn’t realise that it was book four in a series. However I found it worked fine as a standalone. There was a lovely heartwarming feel throughout. You see this especially in the friendships that are formed between Lottie and the residents of this small village. Lottie is also busy trying to start a business but also ends up busy in her personal life too. As the arrival of two different men definitely bring complications.

I found Lottie to be a mostly likeable character but I did have my reservations. I have to admit there were times when I did shake my head at some of her actions. There were plenty of moments where I wanted to say no, don’t do that. Along with a few exclamations of what are you doing, don’t listen to him! So in a way my thoughts and feelings towards Lottie were a little mixed at times. Even though I may not have fully gelled with the main character I found the story to be sweet, gentle and lighthearted!

Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage is yet another perfect book by Heidi Swain!

There is drama, romance, comedy, suspense and gorgeous scenery. Lottie id a great character, albeit slightly annoying in her naivety. She is a bit lost when she arrives at the cottage but soon finds her feet and settles in a bit. Some of the people she meets are familiar from other stories, which is always fun!

I love this book! I love the characters! I love Heidi! This book is great and so readable!

I think without any doubt Heidi Swain is becoming one of my favourite authors up there with Trisha Ashley and Katie Fforde. The dizzy heights of being able to pick up a novel by this author and know that you are going to get a good story from the very beginning. 

Lottie inherits a cottage in the village of Wynbridge, not any old cottage but Cuckoo Cottage which was previously owned by Gwen. Trouble is a number of the villagers think that Lottie is the cuckoo in the nest as she had only a tenuous link to Gwen. 

Lottie though has other ideas, she has to live in the cottage for a year and as she has no other commitments or roots put down and no other family why should she not take up residence? The cottage holds a very dear par of her heart and perhaps here she can find what it is she wants out of life.  

The cottage has some secrets and local builder Matt befriends Lottie and helps her with some of the more challenging tasks, trouble is local neighbour Will seems to think it is only a new shower and safer fuse box will keep the cottage going for many years to come. 

When Lottie agrees to renovate a caravan for The Cherry Tree Cafe, but to keep it secret until she knows that it will work, it sparks some intrigue from the other villagers. What is Lottie going to do? Of course without knowing the truth people speculate and make their own minds up. Lottie is lost on who she can trust now and it seems that the only way to know for sure is to tell the truth. But there are some other locals who might need to start telling the truth too. What will the truth lead to?

If you have read other Heidi Swain novels you will recognise some of the characters. But not knowing who they are is fine, this can be read as a standalone novel and out of publication order as I have done.  

I wanted to keep reading about Lottie, her cottage, her plans and the way the community embraced her, well nearly all of the community. Her cottage sounded just the sort of place to visit, for a cup of tea, a large piece of cake and an afternoon in a lovely squishy chair by the fire reading a book - in fact a book just like the one I have described. 

An excellent book to escape right into, you will not be disappointed.

I’ve read and enjoyed all of Heidi Swain’s Wynbridge books and this was no exception. They are well written and always fun with characters I can relate to. I enjoy the way each book brings new characters and tells their story but allows us updates and glimpses of the ones we loved from previous books, Oh and having been felling one of my friends that she would love these books since the first one was published she finally picked one up and then blew through all three others in a short time. If that doesn’t tell you how good they are, nothing will.

After a little time away from losing myself in one of Heidi Swain's delectable novels (it wasn't easy, believe me), I returned to Wynbridge with a spring in my step and copious amounts of excitement. After all, if you have read any of Heidi Swain's previous novels, you'll know that returning to Wynbridge is like catching up with old friends whilst making new ones in the process.

Lottie Foster is back in Wynbridge for a flying visit -  visit that is, unfortunately, surrounded by a lot of sadness and guilt. Just as Lottie was about to leave Wynbridge and make her way back to her mundane daily life, she is stopped dead in her tracks (pardon the pun) by information that could potentially change her life completely. Well, either that or she ends up being the most talked about woman in the village. Oh, wait...

Having adored Heidi Swain's previous novels, I was so excited to see what the latest Wynbridge instalment would bring. How was The Cherry Tree Cafe thriving? Were the owners of Skylark Farm still living their dream? Whilst I was looking forward to catching up with some old friends, Lottie's arrival in Wynbridge took over my thoughts in more ways than one. First of all, she didn't exactly make a calm entrance back into the village, now did she? I probably shouldn't have laughed at that, but I did, sorry!

As soon as the front door of Cuckoo Cottage was unlocked, I just knew that Lottie's new life wasn't going to be as plain sailing as she would have liked. I was waiting for the guy to come in and rescue the 'damsel in distress'. It didn't seem to matter whether she was actually 'in distress' or not but, sure enough, a male swooped in and popped himself on Lottie's radar. Predictable? A teeny bit. However, what I wasn't expecting was a second male character to swoop in and re-rescue the 'damsel in distress'. Predictable? Not in the slightest, although he (Matt) seemed to appear out of nowhere like he was waiting for the right moment to pounce.

I wouldn't say that I fell in love with Lottie's character straight away but, because I had grown accustom to the closeness of the current Wynbridge residents as part of the previous novels, I felt as though Lottie Foster was a little bit of an outsider and I was hoping she hadn't moved to Wynbridge, purely to cause trouble. Sounds a bit daft getting protective over a fictional village I know, but it's a little bit difficult not to emotionally attach yourself to the village and its hardworking residents. I felt as though we have come such a long way already by overcoming such heart-breaking hurdles with various characters, I guess I just didn't want their lives unraveling due to Lottie's situation.

Matt annoyed me from the moment he stepped foot into Cuckoo Cottage. Obviously I cannot divulge the reasons why as it'll give away the storyline but, he really needs to take a good hard look in the mirror and grow up (and yes, that's the nice way of putting it!). As for Lottie and Will's friendship, it seemed to me that she had only been back in the village a moment of minutes before she was dreaming of getting jiggy with her new neighbour. Whilst their friendship certainly was entertaining, I did feel as though they had reached 0-100 in the blink of an eye. Or maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

Overall, I found that 'Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage' was such a joy to read, keeping me entertained from start to finish. Yes certain parts of the storyline came across as a little predictable, but, it didn't take any of the Wynbridge away, nor did it ruin my enjoyment of the novel at all. The more I read of the book, the more I found myself warming to Lottie Foster and her little personality quirks - especially how she threw herself into emergency situations. For me, I preferred that side of her personality, and I truly believe that there is a lot more to Ms.Foster than we were shown. Hopefully she will return in later books (if any) as I really feel she is a gem just waiting to be discovered properly.

'Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage' was such a pleasurable read which was full of giggles, heart-warming moments, live rivals, and memories. It is so hard not to fall in love with Wynbridge but, once again, I fell in love with it one more time.

Wynbridge may be magical in itself, but it's Heidi Swain's energising and exquisite storytelling which makes it that way, as well as making me come back for more. Stunning.

What a lovely read! I haven't read the other books but this was a great stand alone story. I loved the village, the residents and the gorgeous cottage. It reminded me a lot of the old house I live in with its quirks and charm. I loved Lottie but often wanted to reach in and tell her what to do! The dog was fab and a great judge of character! Loved the ending and will definitely look out for more from this author. Thank you for the copy much appreciated.

A story that will fill your heart. I loved it.

Another absolutely fabulous 5 star novel by Heidi Swain. Every single time I read books by this author I get sucked into the story straight from the first page! Heidi does an amazing job of keeping readers entertained.

First of all, I love the cover - it's so inviting and so so cute! It really gives you a feel of what the book might entail. It instantly makes you want to read it! (Well it does in my case anyway!).

Now on to the story, Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage is about Lottie Foster who has been left a beautiful cottage in Wynbridge by her Gran's best friend Gwen. As Lottie moves in, she soon finds that there is trouble along the way as some of the residents of Wynbridge are not very happy with her moving into the town, and in particular, Gwen's lovely home.

However, even though Lottie feels some of the town against her, she also makes some good friends with local neighbours (some of which are in Heidi's other novels) and starts to enjoy her time at her new home. It soon becomes too good to be true for Lottie as local builder Matt tells her that Cuckoo Cottage needs quite a bit of renovation work - Luckily he is always there to help her out ...

For the rest of the story Lottie has a tough choice to make: Can she find it in her heart to trust her new friends? Or are they just using her to get what they can from her?

This book is full of great characters and interesting story lines, it keeps you hooked from the moment you start and I for one found that I couldn't put it down! It's charming, light hearted and easy to read. You'll soon be wanting to read more of Heidi Swain's books (that's if you haven't already!)

Overall, I loved it and can't wait to read Heidi's new novel, Sleigh Rides and Silver Bells at the Christmas Fair, which is going to be released in early October.

With Lottie in charge of a run down cottage for a year all that needs to happen is romance and then the vet appears. Sparkling writing that turns a good story into magic on a page

It was the book title and book cover that drew me to wanting to read this book and what a truly delightful and charming read it was.

I loved the main character Lottie as I felt that I related to her in quite a few ways, we are very similar in personalities. Although one thing I've never had, was two handsome guys vying for my attention at the same time. So Lottie is definitely lucky there.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of the characters, but especially seeing how Lottie dealt with the changes and obstacles that she had to contend with and how she developed as a character throughout.

There was one character that I quickly realised that I didn't like and that person was a piece of work I can tell you, I won't tell you who as wouldn't want to ruin the story for anyone but I certainly had a few choice words for said person.

Oh and I definitely want a Minnie of my very own, and who or what is Minnie you ask, well you'll just have to read the book to find out for yourself, but suffice to say, I fell in love with Minnie, so sweet and adorable.

So I absolutely loved this story from start to finish, so much so that I can't wait to read her other novels, two of which feature characters from this book, so definitely looking forward to re-acquainting myself with them.

Sadly on this occasion this story isn't working out for me. Heidi Swain has a lovely writing style that does work for me, it's simply a case of it's me, not you.

Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage is the 4th book by bestselling author Heidi Swain, I have read the first one and loved her writing from the start. That’s why I was really excited to read this one too. We return to the beautiful town of Wynbridge and meet some familiar characters, I really need to read the other two books as well. This one can totally be read as a standalone though.

Lottie Foster has inherited Cuckoo Cottage and moves in, but it’s not so easy. Some people think it shouldn’t be hers and according to Matt, a gorgeous local builder, a lot of work needs to be done around it. Then there is also Will, her closest neighbour, who doesn’t seem to trust Matt. She really doesn’t know what to do, who to trust and with both men wanting her attention she really is fighting a battle in several ways. Will she find love and happiness in her new home?!

Heidi Swain is a really talented writer, her descriptions are on point, it really feels like being there with the characters. This book really has left a smile on my face, it’s so uplifting, comforting and just wonderful. There is a sparkly glow around the whole story and it just gives you that warm feeling of never wanting to leave the story! A heart-warming summer read, which is surrounded by authentic characters, a beautiful setting and a dynamic storyline.

Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage is the latest release by Heidi Swain and sees us returning to the idyllic village of Wynbridge with the introduction of a new main character the lovely Lottie Foster. When Lottie’s grandmothers best friend passed away she left Lottie her home, Cuckoo Cottage, hoping that this would give Lottie the chance to make a real life for herself. As Lottie begins to put down her roots and starts playing with ideas on how to utilise the land which comes with her new home it soon becomes clear not everyone wants to see her settle at Cuckoo Cottage.

I have read all of Heidi’s books and I love that so many of the previous characters are all weaved into this storyline and that we re-visit Skylark Farm and the delightful Cherry Tree Cafe. This book can easily be read as a stand alone but having read the previous books this one just felt like reuniting with friends.

You can expect witty moments from early on in this book and a typical love triangle between Lottie her helpful builder Matt and delightful neighbour, it was a little predictable but never the less a joy to read as we watch events unfold and testosterone flow! The community spirit comes across strongly in this book, no one can keep a secret as everyone knows everyone business and yet they all rally round and help each other.

I don't want to give away any spoilers so I am not going to say too much but I rather hoped we would see the development of Lottie’s idea come to light as Heidi has great descriptive writing and I was eager to watch Lottie develop her vision.

I thought this was a wonderful light read and fans of Heidi Swains previous books will not be disappointed as her character and charm from her previous books are all found in this new release.

Why is it that good books always come to an end far too soon? I was really enjoying the story, had been rooting for Lottie to realise the truth about one of the men interested in her, and the next thing I know I'm up to the epilogue, and then have run out of words and pages! Such a shame as I was loving the book, and now have to spend the next few months waiting for the next book by this talented author!

Although this is the fourth book set in and around Wynbridge, let me assure you its able to be read as a complete standalone, with a whole new main character. However for those of you that have read others by the author, you will join me in being delighted to be able to catch up with their latest exploits, and seeing familiar faces, while of course learning all about Lottie, and her life.

Lottie unexpectedly comes into an inheritance of Cuckoo Cottage, so long as she lives there for a year. She loved the cottage as a child, so is excited at finally trying to make something of her life. Within her first few days in the cottage she meets two rather different but both attractive men, one good and one bad...although it takes Lottie ages to work out which is which!

There were times I wanted to knock some sense into Lottie, was all my senses were shouting in one direction, but its always tricky when there are smooth talkers about. Lottie though does come up with a plan for how she could make a living, so long as things work according to plan.

There is just such an easy to read, good vibe from this story, that had me turning pages incredibly fast without me noticing. I was so absorbed in the story and enjoying every element of it from new found friendships, to overcoming old fears, learning to trust, some cute chickens, a dog who is a good judge of character, and of course being able to catch up with my favourite characters from previous books by the author.

Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage is a fabulous story that i thoroughly enjoyed reading. After four books I feel incredibly at home in Wynbridge, and I find it quicker each time to remember the characters, which helps. The two men involved in Lottie's potential romance are like chalk and cheese, and her neighbours are on the whole familiar characters that have her best interests at heart.

A great book. Heidi Swain's books always want me to take up crafting. When Lottie inherits a cottage it seems like the answer to all of her prayers but who can she trust amiable Matt or grumpy vet Will. It's great having the characters from her previous titles popping up.
