Unfortunately, this book was archived before I got chance to read it.

Having read this book directly after book 1, I did not think this book could top the first one, and wow, I was proven wrong. This book was so much better than book 1, and book 1 was bloody amazing!
Highly recommended!!

Second book in the series and just as good a read as the first. Plenty action, great characters and a plot with a great twist. I enjoyed this book very much. Thank you Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Amazon and Goodreads.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book it kept me fully engaged all the way through. I do love a good police investigation. Although it might have been beneficial it was not essential to read the first book. Will certainly be looking out for jack's next book

This is the 2nd in this series. It's almost a must to read these in order. There are spoilers in Book 2, and there is a huge cliff hanger in each book.

DS Peter Gayle has returned to work after a few months off. He's still winding up the case he closed in Book 1. This time around a house fire catches his eyes. It looks accidental, but evidence shows that it was murder.

And this will not be the only body falling when Gayle and his team start investigating. It's apparent there is a serial killer on the loose.

Meanwhile, there's a suspicion that a cop is helping a drug dealer stay off the radar. Gayle is trying to keep that investigation really quiet. And then there's the young fellows who are somehow getting hold of drugs and syringes and sticking homeless men with the needles.

There's a lot of action, a lot going on that keeps the reader glued to the pages. Characters are finely drawn. Again, there is another cliff hanger at the end of this book. I'm keeping fingers crossed that Book 3 will be out soon.

A strong sequel in what is shaping up to be a good British crime series. Humour mixes well with dark subject matter and complex cases taking the reader on an enjoyable journey.
But will Tommy ever be found?

I would like to thank Netgalley and HQ Digital for a review copy of No Place To Hide in the DS Peter Gayle Exeter based series of police procedurals.

After the events of Nowhere To Run Peter is plunged straight into a new case. A death in a suspicious house fire makes the pathologist think there is a serial killer on the loose. Peter and the team jump straight in to the investigation while his boss, DCI Adam Silverstone, wants more proof. In the meantime Peter's son Tommy is still missing and it's destroying his wife, Louise.

I thoroughly enjoyed No Place to Hide. The plotting is clever and the pace excellent so it held my attention throughout. The balance is good between the two plotlines, the serial killer and Tommy's disappearance, and a third which arises from their investigation. There's never a dull moment. I like the fact that apart from the first chapter the point of view remains with Peter and the team so the reader knows as much or as little as they do.

Despite the subject matter the tone of the novel is light as the banter between the team members is funny and natural and makes for an enjoyable read, for example they call the highly ambitious and incompetent DCI Silverstone Fast Track Phil.

Peter and the team are pleasant, dedicated people with a good cameraderie which adds to the enjoyment. With his son missing, his colleague getting nowhere with the investigation and his wife clinically depressed about it Peter doesn't have his troubles to seek but he does his bit, as a father, to try and find Tommy, while continuing his hunt for the killer. This annoys both Silverstone and his colleague but gees up his wife. I loved the scenes where he manipulates Silverstone round to his point of view.

No Place to Hide is a good read with an interesting plot and pleasant characters so I have no hesitation in recommending it as a good read.
