This book was a surprise package! Reminiscent of Robert Muchamore's Cherub series, this actually was a great read. Thank you Netgalley for the advance copy. I really enjoyed this book.
The scary thing about this whole book is it was written in such a way, it actually seemed plausible that such a heist could actually take place. There were a few areas that were far fetched, but I don't believe it detracted from the overall book and was still a great read.
I believe this maybe the first book in a series as my copy had #1 in the title. It did finish on a bit of a cliffhanger, which is annoying but also exciting. If there is a second book coming, my hand is up to read it.
I don't want to give any spoilers in this review, and I believe that the description given for this book gives a good synapses of what to expect. However, I will give a slight description of my own observations!
What I like about this book is that the main character, 'The Warden', the mastermind behind the biggest heist to go down in history runs a detention centre. At least this is how is appears from the outside! Little do the authorities know, that whenever they send more detainees to his detention centre, they are actually building a team of hundreds to help pull off the biggest robbery in history.
'The Warden' is a flawed person, with many issues. As we read this novel, slowly but surely we get an insight into the person he is and the author builds a good character profile for a lot of the main characters in the novel. As a reader, we start to feel a connection with pivotal characters in the book and this adds to the overall experience.
A taught, slick, thriller that will keep you on your toes to the end. Very enjoyable indeed, and can't wait for the next book in the series!!!!
