This is the second book in a series but if like me you haven't read the first then don't worry as it didn't take away from this one. Sam takes a job as a driver for a very rich lady and this is where all the action starts
Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster UK for this arc.
My various kindles keep dying on me and while I've gotten new kindles, I haven't got them very well organized and as a result, this read slipped through the cracks on me. Apologies for taking so long to read and post this review.
This was a fun and fast paced read for me. Sam is a PPO (personal protection operator... not to be confused with a BG / bodyguard) for hire, meaning she can't be too picky who she works for/with if the money's right. So it's no real surprise she finds herself up to her armpits in alligators. And stinking rich alligators at that. Sam, being the "kick-ass" and resourceful gal she is takes on all comers and comes out on top. I kept hearing Glenn Frey's The Heat Is On" in my head while reading this one. There are a couple (or three) different story lines going on is this book, just to keep the pace at breakneck.
This is the second book in the Sam Wylde series, but even though its different than book one, its just as full of twists and surprises! Well done!
Sam Wylde is a Close Protection Officer who provides security for the rich and the powerful. She needs the money to search for her ex-husband and daughter so she takes up the job to be Ms. Irwins's driver and the plot thickens...
This is an action packed thriller where things start going wrong for Sam from the get-go till she is suspicious about everyone.
Sam realises that the only person she can trust is herself and she depends on her own intelligence to get through to the end of the story.
On the whole a fast paced, action thriller where the twists are aplenty..
Sorry but I found this book slow, dull and generally difficult to engage with. Didn't finish it
The more I read about Sam Wylde, the more I love her.
I loved this book. In the aftermath of book one, Sam has been searching incessantly for her daughter, which remains a major point of the book. I found Jess much more interesting in this book than the previous, especially as there were chapters written from her point of view, letting us know what she's doing while Sam is working her protection. I thought that Sam's protection storyline was also pretty interesting, and I didn't see the plot twist coming at all. I'm also starting to really like Freddie. When there was the possibility that she died, I felt like the books had lost something.
Nobody gets hurt by rj Bailey.
Sam Wylde is a Close Protection Officer to the rich and powerful.
In a world dominated by men, being a woman has been an advantage. And she is the best in the business at what she does. But has she taken on a case too dangerous to survive?
This was a really good read with good characters. I liked Sam. She was my favourite character. Really enjoyed this book. 5*. Netgalley and Simon and schuster UK fiction.
Don't expect to put your feet up and maybe nod off whilst you read this thriller! I haven't read R J Bailey before so I wasn't prepared quite for the fast paced all action story this proved to be.
Sam Wylde is the main character and her life has been and still is high octane to say the least. It was in no way spoiled for me having not read any earlier books with Sam in but I am sure it would have added to the pleasure if I had. I will certainly be looking for the next in the series.
This is the second in the Sam Wylde series, but the first for me. The title is rather ironic, as things go to hell in a handcart in this fast paced, action packed, thrill ride of a story. Sam is a close protection officer who no longer has the option of working in Britain, so is based in Europe. In her past, she was in the military in Iraq. She is tracking her ex-husband, Konrad, and her daughter, whom she hope to connect with. She is running security on a luxury yacht during the historic Grand Prix race. However, things are not as they seem, as financial bankruptcy looms. This leads to Sam operating as a driver on a trip to visit a banker where they are unexpectedly joined by the son of Mrs Irwin. However, almost immediately things begin to fall apart and spiral out of control as Sam finds herself surrounded by enemies and wondering who she can trust in a tale of loss and revenge. It all leads to a tense finale that challenges Sam to the limit. This is for those who like entertaining action based thrillers. Many thanks to Simon and Schuster for an ARC.
Sam Wylde is a close protection officer. She served in Iraq in the military and has medic experience. She has personal problems which she has to put away in a box in her mind when she is on a job. Sam has taken this job so she has the money to look for her daughter who was taken by her ex-husband. She is to be the driver for Mrs Irwin with another to do the actual protection part. Mrs Irwin has shown up with her son who was not expected. They are driving across Europe to see the banker for Mrs. Irwin. Things start going wrong from the time they pick up the car. Sam does not know who to trust. Great read that moves along fast and has surprises you did not see coming.
