The plot is well written and the story flows at a good pace with lots of action and suspense. The characters were realistic with convincing dialogue. It had the perfect ending with no threads left hanging. I enjoyed the read and recommend it to others.

Another great story by Tom Bale. Each Little Lie is a plot-driven novel with likeable characters. It is very hard not to cheer for Jen, whose life turns into a living nightmare after trying to help an acquaintance. There are plenty of twists and turns, and it kept my interest throughout.

This was my first novel by Tom Bale, but it won't be my last. Jen tries to do a good deed, and ends up being charged with a crime that could send her to prison and her young son to her ex and her former father-in-law. An elaborate scheme has Jen unsure whom to trust. There is enough doubt and wonder to keep the reader's interest. I was given an eARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love a book that will grab my interest right from the first chapter and keep me wanting more right through to the end, and beyond too. This book did just that for me. This was my first book by this author and I am completely hooked. The way the story was written flowed so well from chapter to chapter that I just wanted to keep reading until I was finished (which I did in one sitting). The descriptions given for both the characters and the surroundings were done in such a way that I was able to visualize as if I was there in the book. This doesn't always happen for me with books.

My favorite thing about this book was that the main character Jen, was such a relate-able character for me. I felt like she could be me in a lot of ways. This doesn't happen often when I read a book, so I treasure it when it does happen. The story line I found to be something that could and definitely would happen to someone like me. I often say if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any at all and that is how I felt about what was happening to Jen. The story progressed beautifully and I felt like every detail was described perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed reading page after page seeing if my assumptions were true about who was actually behind the whole thing in the first place. As the story went on, I kind of wondered if Russell had any purpose in the story and when we find out what actually happened to him, it made perfect sense to me.

After I first finished the book, I have to admit that the ending was not what I expected and I was a little disappointed. I mean, why wasn't justice served? But after thinking it over, I realized that the ending was closer to how real life would probably go if I was in Jen's shoes and that actually made me love the book even more. I also realized that if the ending was as I predicted and justice had been served as I am used too, then that would just fall into the category of predictability. I am not sure if it was the author's intention to go against predictability, or if it was just how he planned it, but either way it was a great choice.

The level of self-entitlement displayed by Gerard in his quest to ensure capture of his grandson as the prize in divorce proceedings between his son, Freddie, and daughter-in-law, Jen, is astonishing. Gerard failed to factor in the strength and intelligence that made Jen into the adventurous, self-reliant woman he thinks is beneath him. As Jen delves further into circumstances which could culminate in her arrest, she unravels a conspiracy she fears will be her undoing yet forges along in order to save her child. Along the way, she reclaims parts of her self she thought she had lost during bitter divorce proceedings and realizes that even the most unlikely person can rise to the occasion when a child is at stake.

Jen is a single mom to seven-year old Charlie. Her son is the center of her life, and she tries to set a good example for him by doing nice things for others, like helping out a neighbor in need. Unfortunately that good deed leads her down a dark road and she’s accused of committing a crime she had nothing to do with. Someone is out to get Jen…or are they out to get her child?

OMG Tom Bale never ceases to surprise me, this author has an incredible knack for creating a thriller with a difference, he creates characters that are pretty average, and then places them in the most extraordinary circumstances. It's then the authors characters come into their own, making for a gripping thriller. Each Little Lie is the latest standalone from the author, and it doesn't disappoint, it's going to sound cliched but in my opinion it's the authors best book to date.

Each Little Lie shows that one risky decision can change a law-abiding citizen in to a criminal, and this is want happens to single mother Jen Cornish, an impulsive good deed to help a neighbour sets of a terrifying chain of events that quickly spiral out of control. Lies have been spun, truths manipulated and Jen finds herself in danger, the why? and the who? are central to the plot making for a throughly hear pounding, head spinning read.


Jen is pretty average, that is until she realises someone is manipulating the truth to put her in a heap load of trouble, she then becomes far more interesting, you can't help but will her on as she fights to get to the truth of her terrifying situation. I had so many theories going a round in my head and I was convinced I had worked out the who? And the why? By the half way mark, but Tom Bale deftly leads the reader a merry dance before the reader gets to the truth. There are so many possibilities and theories Each Little Lie is the definition of a "suspense filled thriller".

What I love about Tom Bale's writing is the fact he effortlessly draws the reader in with a strong plot and spot on characterisation, he's able to keep the readers attention by constantly adding more intrigue and suspense, never revealing to much in one go, which for me made this thriller stand out from the "norm". Each Little Lie is a tale of manipulation, deceit and the power of money, it's definitely a novel which I consider to be a "thrilling thriller" and one I would highly recommend.

Excellent book. Great storyline and characters. A real page turner. I would recommend this book.

"Each Little Lie" is the story of Jen Cornish, whose life is thrown into turmoil following a small act of kindness for a neighbour. Jen is quickly catapulted into a living hell as she is arrested for a crime that she is sure that she did not commit. She is torn between convincing herself that she is being targeted by someone unknown or that she is somehow losing her mind. But when her son, Charlie, is placed in danger her fear knows no bounds as she races against the clock to uncover the truth.

Tom Bale has this uncanny knack of taking an ordinary situation and twisting it into something so bizarre but at the same time so believable that you find yourself glued to the pages and compelled to read without putting it down!

Less than 3 chapters in and I found myself screaming at Jen - Noooooooooooo! What the hell are you doing woman - you just know that this good turn you are doing is going to turn out so bad....I could almost hear the scary movie soundtrack playing as I turned the pages! At the start Jen irritated the living daylights out of me, I could not believe some of the things she was doing - I found myself lying in bed thinking what would I have done in that situation - which is a sure sign of brilliant character portrayal, when as a reader I found myself inside the head of the character and that's where I was for the entirety of the book!

In "Each Little Lie" , Tom Bale has created a small but tightly connected group of unreliable narrators. Each and every one of them was plausible yet unbelievable at the same time. As a reader my head was tied up in knots not knowing who I should trust. From Jen's ex husband, Freddy and his philandering ways to his overbearing and manipulative father and media star, Gerard; the cast of characters that were written into the narrative created a chatter in my brain that threatened to send me into meltdown!

One character, however, deserves special mention as you need to be warned about him! Russell - ugh what an odious little man - you may want to wear some gloves when you are reading about this as he is going to make your skin crawl. Eugh I still shiver thinking about him!

I have enjoyed all of Tom Bale's books; his brilliantly twisted mind has created yet another dark and suspenseful masterpiece in "Each Little Lie"! I read his books with a #WTF moment as each chapter unfolds; despite stretching the bounds of reality - because I read it saying to myself, yeah right as if that is going to happen! - his books are some of the most compelling reads I've come across in this genre - extraordinarily bad things happening to very ordinary people in everyday circumstances grab my attention from the start and "Each Little Lie" is no exception to the rule! Did I enjoy it? Yes in a stomach churning, fearfully, paranoid way I LOVED it!

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book. This was the first book by Tom Bale I have read but most definitely wont be the last! Fast paced with loads of suspense. A totally must read psychological, page turner of a book. I would totally recommend it.

Tom Bale does it again! Another unrelentingly suspenseful, fast paced, scary, roller-coaster of a tale. I couldn't put it down. From the first page to the last, packed with twists and revelations, this was an enjoyable adrenaline rush of a novel that I absolutely loved. Cannot wait for the next book!

Oh wow I just loved this. Completely unputdownable. I found it quite scary how this story was like a stone gathering moss, and an innocent woman ended up in big trouble with one small gesture meant to help someone.

An easy five stars.
