I enjoyed the twenty-first installment of the Savich/Sherlock series. It continued Jack and Cam into the story from the last book. I did enjoy the two mysteries presented in the novel.. One was agents Cam Wittier (Insidious) and New York-based former Ex-Ranger with special operations training Jack Cabot, race against the clock to catch a criminal and solve the enigma of the man called John Doe.

Agent Dillon Savich saves Kara Moody from a seemingly crazy man, he doesn’t realize he will soon be facing a scientist who wants to live forever. Follow the ins and outs and the motivation behind the crimes that follow in the scientists endeavors. Join Sherlock and agents from child abduction as they try to find little Alex Moody after he is abducted from the hospital.

At the same time, Cam Wittier and Jack Cabot must track a violent criminal through the Daniel Boone National Forest. When the criminal escapes through a daring rescue, the agents have to find out who set his escape in motion and how it all ties into the murder of Mia Prevost, the girlfriend of the president’s Chief of Staff’s only son, Saxton Hainny. Learn whether or not national security is breached.
What I found myself doing was jumping ahead to finish a portion of one story before returning to the other. I thought the chapters changed topic too often for my liking.

In this latest FBI novel, Agents Savich and Sherlock race against time to free a pregnant woman held hostage by an armed stranger. When Savich saves Kara Moody from the crazy man who claims to be protecting her, Savich discovers a convoluted plot by a scientist to enable his father and others to live forever. At the same time, Wittier and Cabot track a violent criminal who has escaped during a well-planned rescue. Throw in the murder of the girlfriend of the President's Chief of Staff's only son and all bets are off.

Enigma catches you with the first sentence and doesn't stop till the Epilogue! I enjoy visiting with Savich and Sherlock, and I love the twist and turns as the plot unfolds and invariably there is a surprise I don't see coming.
This book also raises questions and ethics on drug trials and test on people. Where is the line. My husband has cancer, so reading this I could see all the sides. Read an captivating story that leaves you thinking,

I was excited to review this book of one of my favorite authors. It took me a few days and from the beginning I was hooked and was wondering what would happen. The characters were well done and I kept waiting for the agents to come together. Also kept wandering who Enigma was and how he connected to Kara and her baby. It was easy to follow the two different story lines that went through the book and I kept looking for the connection to be revealed between the story lines but unfortunately there wasn't one. It was a surprise the way the one story line ended. At times the wording was a little too technical for me to follow, but I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading more of the FBI Thriller series of books that Catherine Coulter writes. I've always enjoyed her historical books and the Scottish Bride books were the ones that hooked me on her.

Catherine Coulter can write suspense. Sherlock and Savich have multiple cases that start different but are interwoven. I loved Enigma I'd recommend it to anyone. Page Turner that keeps you wanting more. New characters blend with regulars. Fantastic read!

Thrilling read!!! Savich and Sherlock seem like old friends by now, was so much fun spending time with them. Lots of twists and turns. I couldn't put this book down.

Catherine Coulter does not disappoint with this one. Lots of action, a little romance and a theme that provokes thought on issues of the day - for what more can you ask?

Catherine Coulter's two protagonists have returned in the latest FBI Thriller Series! I love the characters of Sherlock and Savitch! They are smart, savvy, and so in love with each other! New characters are developed well, and I hope Cam and Jack will be returning in subsequent installments. I could not put down this book. Coulter develops two intriguing storylines that run parallel in ENIGMA. The two do not interresect, but they are both deftly plotted smoothly with excellent transitioning between them. Very interesting and thoroughly entertaining!

Great installment in Coulter's FBI Thrillers series. Action-packed, fast-paced, these books are perfect for summer reading. The characters continue to adapt and grow throughout the series.

Bestselling author Catherine Coulter has released the 21st installment of her popular FBI Thriller Series, Enigma. Some of the familiar characters are back, and, as is Coulter’s specialty, there is an element of romance along with the suspense. Savich is called over to the home of Dr. Janice Hudson, an old friend of his grandmother, because some crazy man is trying to take her pregnant neighbor, Kara Moody. Savich is close and gets there before the police. Janice knows an alternate way to get into the house, and Savich is able to wound the intruder and take him down. The intruder is taken to the same hospital that Kara has her baby, and Kara’s baby is kidnapped. The crazy man has an unknown drug in his system and insists that he is an enigma.

Coulter doesn’t just have one plot going in her thrillers, and Enigma is no exception. Savich dispatches a team of his agents to find Liam Hennessey, an Irish criminal who is known as Manta Ray. Manta Ray is a convicted bank robber and murderer who escapes from federal marshals while on his way to a federal prison. The puzzling part is why anyone would help Manta Ray escape; it was obviously a professional team who helped him and they are headed for a forest which, of course, makes him difficult to track.

Coulter’s FBI series and this novel are not graphically violent, but there is plenty of subtle violence, death, and action. Her characters, for those who have followed the series, are old friends. She focuses on relationships and makes the plots revolve around them. While the books may never be considered classics, they are well-written and enjoyable to read; the familiarity to the characters makes some of the scenarios a bit predictable, and the plots tend to be a bit implausible, including some supernatural aspects, but this is fiction, after all, and her fans won’t want to miss Enigma. It brings up some questions that are relevant in the scientific world today, especially as regards to DNA, which gives the novel an interesting twist.

Enigma may not be Coulter’s best, but fans won’t want to miss it. It is a fast read, and also fun.

Catherine Coulter is a highly prolific writer who found a successful formula and continues to follow it.
Two of the main character whose adventure we have followed through many a book also take the lead in Enigma.
Savich and Sherlock become embroiled chasing a criminal ("John Doe") who is performing horrific experiments on victims in his attempt to live forever.
In the meantime (and there always is) another crime needs solved. Searching through a National Forest for a man who is somehow tied in to the murder of the President's Chief of Staffs' son requires the work of Cam Wittier and Jack Cabot, two more characters who appear in Coulter's books.
The search takes on international intrigue, science, and plain old fashioned detective work.
This book, like Coulter's others, is a fast read that always surprised me in the end. It won't disappoint.

I have read all the books written by Catherine Coulter. I have to say even though this lacked romantic elements I rate it one of her best. The story revolves around current events: Russian sanctions and mortality. The action is constant and I enjoyed all of the secondary characters. There is not much of Savitch and Sherlock and I did miss their son but the other characters are enjoyable and make you root for them. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

My first Catherine Coulter book and I enjoyed it. There were two storylines in the book - one that reminded me of a James Bond type plot - but they were tied up nicely at the end. The ending "sciency part" did seem to interrupt the end of the book a bit, but by that time you've read basically the entire book so it's not too big of a disruption.

The 21st book in the series and its just as good as the 1st. This is one of my favorite Catherine Coulter series. Recurring characters Agents Savich and Sherlock with a surrounding cast of fellow agents, victims, and two concurrent mysteries to solve. International intrigue and a crazy scientist kept up way past my bedtime - par for the course with Coulter books!

ENIGMA begins in Washington D.C., where the illicit scheming and law enforcement turf wars never end. A highly agitated man shows up at the home of a young pregnant woman; ranting about her safety, and never quite coherent in his rambling statements.

Law Enforcement diffuse the situation, at which time the man goes into a coma...and the young woman goes into labor. After the birth, the baby mysteriously disappears from the hospital. The FBI "Child Abduction Rapid Deployment" team is immediately sent in to pick up the case.

On a concurrent timeline, an Irish master thief has escaped custody and an FBI team is off on the assignment to recapture the thief; and discover that the stolen goods may be related to breaches in national security. This puts the agents in the edge as they race to solve the case.

ENIGMA is another intriguing entry in Catherine Coulter’s long running ‘FBI Thriller’ series. Although Special Agents Sherlock and Savich are once again front and center in the story, several other agents share story time with the cases. Can be read standalone with the understand that the reader may not know all the personal background of Sherlock and Savich.

Fun read. I always enjoy going on an adventure with Savich and Sherlock.

There are two separate plot lines in this book and they have no connection to one another. Although the concept of creating humans with special genes to find a way to extend life and keep us young. It had no connection to the other that was about a Russian blackmailing the President's chief of staff to get sanctions lifted. Both are good plots but thrown together in the same book it made me always wonder when they would connect. I finished the book realizing they didn't and was left confused and disappointed.

I so love all books by Catherine Coulter and this one was no different. The characters are warm and alive. I always enjoy reading the next chapter in the lives of Dillon and Sherlock!
