This is a charming story about everything being useful in it's own time. I liked the story, but I loved the illustrations. They are so delicate and you can imagine them actually being painted by fairies. I especially loved the color choices.

What a lovely little book, fairies and friendship all combine when the wind blows up a storm leaving the fairies in trouble, happily there is one little fairy who loves the rain and is happy to welcome others and all is good in the end. As a story, this could be a great way to support little ones who find wind and heavy rain difficult to cope with or just a lovely memory for your little one to remember and keep the magic of nature alive.

I went surfing around NetGalley again for some new children’s books to read and I spotted this cute children’s book called “The Fairy in the Kettle” which is written by Pauline Tait along with artwork by Debbie Bellaby and this book was truly adorable to read through!

In the land of Bramble Glen, there lives a village full of fairies and they all lived in various flowers across the village. One fairy however, who was called Leona, actually lived in an old round cast-iron kettle and she loved her kettle home, despite the fact that the other fairies thought that the kettle was too noisy on certain days. One day however, a huge storm hits Bramble Glen and at first, the fairies and Leona are unaware of the storm coming, but when the storm gets worse, the fairies immediately try to find a safe place to hide from the storm.

Wow! I found this book to be so adorable and inspiring as I not only found it interesting to read a fairy story where the fairy in question lives in a kettle pot, but a fairy story that teaches children about the importance of loving your home for what it is, no matter how strange your home is. Pauline Tait has done a great job at writing this story as I found the story to be extremely cute to read through, especially since it involves fairies doing cute activities like dancing and living in flowers. I also loved the message that Pauline Tait sends to the audience about the importance of having a loving home, no matter how bizarre it is, as I found the story about Leona living in a kettle pot and not caring about its flaws to be truly inspiring! Debbie Bellaby’s artwork is truly gorgeous to look at, especially of the images of the flowers surrounding the fairies and of Leona’s gorgeous pink and purple dress.

The reason why I gave this book a four-star rating was because I felt that the pacing was a bit slow in parts and I wished that more had happened in the story besides the fairies mostly dancing around in the story.

Overall, “The Fairy in the Kettle” is a truly cute story about the importance of staying in a home that is safe and useful to you no matter how different it is from other homes. I would recommend this book for children ages four and up since there is nothing inappropriate in this book.

The Fairy in the Tea Kettle is one of the most beautifully illustrated children's books I've read in ages! That alone would reason enough to purchase this delightful story for any child, but the story is beautiful as well!

I don't often read or buy new children's books, however, I'm creating a series of Fairy gardens in my Inn and wanted to add books for the kids to read. The Fairy in the Kettle was the perfect choice! It is a story about differences and acceptance and living in harmony, all told seamlessly without preaching or judgement. But, again, I was mesmerized by the pictures and I know that the kids will be as well! I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

My daughter and I love this book! We have read it many times. The story is great and the illustrations are beautiful! I will be gifting this book to little fairies in our family!

It's a quite colorful book on a fairy's adventure and yet too wordy for a preschooler.

The illustrations in this books are absolutely beautiful. While I love the concept of the story, I wish the writing had been a little more solid. With solid writing, this could be an amazing fairy series. I would love to see a book for each of her fairy friends.

This was a cute story and I really liked the drawings and can see that these would definitely be a hit with younger children, particularly little girls. Can really see it becoming a favourite read.

Told in bright watercolors, this story features a fairy named Leona Rose—living in Fairyland, of all places—who’s happy all the time, partially because she lives in a kettle. She’s decorated it from all the stuff she finds in the forest, painting her walls and making her bed and all kinds of goody stuff. Even the sound of rain on her metal roof made her want to dance, though it irritates her neighbors. That changes when the town is suddenly in need of a storm shelter.
That’s quite an imagination this author has, to come up with this story. Everything is perfect, from the art to the plot to the words. One of the best children’s books I’ve ever seen.

Bramble Glen is home to Leona and her fairy friends. Leona lives in a beautifully blue kettle and happily dances in her home to the pitter patter of rain drops. But, she is shielded from natures storms. One evening while the fairies were flying over Buttercup Brook, the rains came pouring down. Leona was safe in her kettle but the fairies outside were miserable. When she realized this, she offers them shelter in her home. This sweet read with vivid illustrations is about compassion and friendship.

Leona the fairy lives in a kettle in the fairy village of Bramble Glen. She loves her home and thinks it is the best one in the village. She loves the way it is decorated as well as the musical sounds the rain plays on it. The other fairies, disagree, they think it is far too noisy when it rains. When a storm hits the village, the fairies head to Leona's kettle for refuge and quickly change their tune.

This is a delightful children's book. The illustrations are large, vivid and colourful. They show that whimsical fairy world. I loved that there were both male and female fairies. The messages in the book range from helping your friends to being strong and true in your belief, it is okay to be different and like different things. This is a cute story to read aloud to young children, especially those who love fairies and magic. I can see this being read to Kindergarten children and talking about Leona and her friends liking different things but still being friends. A great addition to a family and class library.

This is an absolutely delightful children's book that's strong across the board: vivid, whimsical illustrations, a lovely story, a great layout that is eye-catching both in words and pictures, and some nice underlying themes about being true to yourself and how there is value in many things. I can see this becoming a 'read again, again Daddy' favourite for my two-year-old.

Leona the fairy lives in a kettle in the forest. She loves her home - it's perfect for her - though the other fairies don't understand why she'd want to live in something that's so noisy when it rains. But Leona is undeterred, loving her life and her home, and as a storm hits her fellow fairies come to realise the value in being different.

Tait has created a wonderful wee story for little ones, that is fun to read aloud, and with a really magical sense of fun in the illustrations (quite a different style to many kids' books, but lovely). There are also some really nice and healthy themes bubbling away underneath.

Great stuff all around.

Gorgeous illustrations and adorable story! Great as a gift for adults or children. Highly recommend this beautiful book about fairies. Hope there are other books using these same characters in the future!

This is a gentle fairy tale about Leona the fairy and her storm proof tea kettle home in Bramble Glen. The illustrations are in happy colors. This book would be pleasant for children who like fairy stories and shimmery colors.

Leona the fairy is positive she's the luckiest and happiest fairy in Bramble Glen. She lives in her dream home - which happens to be a cast iron kettle. She loves it especially when it rains.....the kettle protects her fragile wings from the elements and she can dance to the rhythm of the rain. But her fairy pals really hate it. Until one night a raging storm hit Bramble Glen....



A sweet and gentle story that will appeal to little girls. There's some nice touches that my daughter loved regarding the decoration if the kettle (think Changing Rooms​ meets Naturewatch). The illustrations are very pretty and engaging. A great book to read to your toddler or to encourage an older girl to read.
